Feb.13 -- Outgoing Credit Suisse AG Chief Executive Officer Tidjane Thiam discusses earnings, the outlook for the bank under new CEO Thomas Gottstein and his plans for the future. He talks with Francine Lacqua in Zurich.
What a class act is Mr. Tidjane Thiam, and what a classy response at the end! And can a journalist be more rude, disrespectful, smug and malicious than this lady? The man is respectful of every one, does not speak evil of those who have wronged him, preserves the reputation of the bank he is leaving, reassures investors as to the future of the institution in the context of this sudden leadership change, expresses gratitude to his clients and team, and even praises his appointed successor, all the while aptly handling all the trick questions of a subversive interviewer. Congratulations, Mr. Thiam! Your mix of wisdom, humility and confidence is a testament to your character. Your results speak of themselves. God bless you in your future endeavors!
Tidjane is a very smart and great leader. He still inspiring us. Credit Suisse was a challenging environment, but he was able to get them back to a positive trend. Thanks Mr. Thiam. Very proud of you.
He left the company on a solid foundation. After his departure, he is no longer responsible for the building. 3 years later, a lot can happen when the strategy is not adapted to the reality of the moment.
He is so humble .He has accomplished many many things as increasing the benefits of Credit Suisse estimated in billions doolars.Thiam does focus on his legacy even though we know he has impacted Credit Suisse. Thanks bro for showing them we can do more than them.
Followed Mr. Thiam's strategy since he was appointed, he had literally changed the direction of Credit Suisse! Excellent strategy in Wealth Management! Hopefully, he will be back as CEO, probably, in US. Thank you, Mr. Thiam!
I don't think we need him in Africa. Last time he had decided to give his support to his country and the continent, he was jailed for that. As soon as he left the continent, he became what he is today. I would appreciate if he creates a platform to share his knowledge and help Africans to be successful in investment management abroad and within Africa. But asking him to comeback, no, sadly because most Africans ain't smart enough to appreciate the knowledge he has. They will surely jail him again.
@@kouamek.samson7626 Unfortunately you're right I'm Ivoiran myself but he don't need to be involved in politic , he can find a way to build an international platform to help younger generation , all this knowledge can't be loss , he's so brillant and for sure he could help a lot of people....so why not coming back at least in the continent.
If most of the Africans at top in western countries would form a consortium/conglomerate to educate , grow and teach the talents in Africa, it would have a great impact! 🥳👏🏼
Tidjane is a great leader. Listened to him speak at Davos. I am proud of the direction he has taken Credit Suisse. For sure he has a great future ahead. Would love to see him work for a philanthropy organization to drive change.
Quel joyau cet homme. Quand l'intelligence fusionne avec l'humilité.
Is it possible to transfer part of this strategic knowledge in Ivory Coast? Develop the financial Entrepreneurship mindset and get the country to the global competitive table? I would like to see that happening.
I don’t think he wants to get involved in the non-sense politics of Ivory Coast and they have called him a foreigner because of his name. I’m very Proud of him. He needs to stay away from Ivory Coast I don’t think the will value his knowledge.
The tribalistic politics in Ivoiry Coast do not allow people like Thiam to contribute to the development of the country.Ouatara is a dictateur.you have 3 people who are burning down the country.
He is a black guy, so I am not surprised. The black guy always lose even if he is right because they want to make a point. So, They don't care about the consequences.
@@not-even-german4892 Well that is not possible sometimes. It's like the nose on the face. Dig a bit harder and you might know the context of his 5 years within the banking industry in Switzerland. LNP
@@LENOVOPRODUCER here in Europe you have the choice to enter into such contracts or not. He knew what he was signing for. I do my job I find solutions no time for ancillary issues.
@@not-even-german4892 I don't get the choice to enter on such contract part. So you're saying that he knew people will be racist against him and do everything to get rid of him, and then he went for it? You have to be kidding.... Or maybe you will tell me that he did it for the money.... LNP
Grave mistake by Credit Suisse for letting him go. He has practically saved the Bank and turned it around. One of the greatest turnaround specialists CEO in the world. Great future for him.
HE BASICALLY SAYING THAT HE WAS FORCED TO LEAVE!! SMDH...We knew it was going to happen, we just didn't know when!! 5 years was a long ride...take your money and open your bank!!
A black man will never be accepted in high western positions until Africa is a developed and respected nation. We need to build our motherland before we can be seen as helpers of other nations. I hope he gives Africa all of his expertise
Didier Mukendi nobody wanted to give him a job in France, not even a low ladder job ! He had to move to London to start working ! That’s weird, considering the fact that he majored at two of what’s considered the élite of French engineers schools + 1 mba !
I just think that politics in Africa and especially for him Ivory Cost will just waste his talent in endless negotiations. Capitalism is the way forward. Let him build another DANGOTE OR UBA OR ECO BANK - these provide employments to thousands across the continent and that is what we need. Moving people out of extreme poverty through the private sector.
Credit Suisse share price halved from 22.50 to 11.00 under his reign, while SMI increased by 25% from Feb 2015 to March 2020. Amazing how people can talk shit up.
On the eve of his departure, Tidjane Thiam presents these record results: net profit increased by 69% for 2019, to 3.4 billion Swiss francs (3.1 billion euros). Leaving with a panache. This is what Tidjane Thiam wanted to do by presenting in person this Thursday the 2019 results of Credit Suisse, his last as the group’s boss. And for good reason, the Franco-Ivorian leader pushed to the exit due to a vicious affair of espionage, can boast of figures that validate the strategy that he put in place during his four years at the head of the group. This is the highest result
I sincerely believe he would be the best person to be elected President of Ivory Coast in 2020 and change West Africa and Africa. Thiam has the right age and the necessary vision for IC and Africa. God bless him.
C'mon Mr. Thiam! First of all I love you! But please slow down when you are speaking and pronounce your words! I don't know why but many Intelligent people speak that way I think you should do stand up comedy! You will love it, you have a lot of stories to share and you are extremely funny. Congrats for an awesome job at Credit Suisse.
He's more funny when he speak in French as it's his native language. But lol stand up what the heck we need him in Africa to teach us about Economic Development or Integration of Africa in financial but not make us laught lol , we have too many clown out there for that.
Thiam is very positive despite the negative manner in which he has been handled by the bank he helped turn its fortunes around. May the racist Credit Suisse fail.
Africa needs to get rid of those useless leaders who have been here for 60 years with still the same ambition: serve themselves and their families.
If everything is so great than why is employee compensation so bad? Bonuses are tiny, raises are almost non existent. Many employees are updating their resumes and planning to look for a new job.
Vraiment.
Ahhh how the tables turn ... they forget how badly they treated him and i quote " We can't have a black man running a Swiss bank" they got exactly what the deserved.
