@@hannuhjelm2596 All entitled to our opinions . I will concede that he did have a very unique and beautiful voice as well. His rendition of Nothing Compares 2U is heartbreaking.
I thought you'd never say that but I do I love these brothers and they are the very best of that decade a great big part to be exact well peace everyone.
I was born in 1982, I have taken "the long way around" in music, I started listening to rock in my adolescence, bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, STP, etc. Then I radically started listening to Thrash, Heavy, Doom, Death and Power Metal, and metal in all its expressions.... after a lot of listening and reading, I have come to the conclusion that this type of classic bands such as Creedence CWR, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and several of those past eras are the best, immortal, timeless, of unique artistic, poetic, musical quality and integrity. Beautiful band
Agree with you very much from🇷🇺 Moscow, Russia. I was born at 1967.l don't like listening Heavy Metal music. I am elder than you. I am preferably classical hard rock, beat, jazz, country and some folks music. Good wishes for you❤! Good health for you and you family👪!
Not only is this one of the most amazing songs of all time, this arrangement, the vocals !!! and the mesmerising, haunting lead solo, is just beyond. . . Masterpiece. . .
Ppl of my generation had the best in music. From Motown to Bubblegum, to Disco, to boybands & groups and everything in between. CCR was popular in my high school years. It's hard to choose the best b/c we had so much to choose from.
You can have 1000 versions of this song, but none will ever touch this. Its just impossible to do it better. PS I always listen this for at least 3 times in a row, and still not enough.
This recording surpasses all of the British invaders, including The Beatles, although many of their songs are great. It simply takes GREAT to an unsurpassed levels. Strangely, it may not even be in Creedence's top 10.
Except , Yankie Doodle, THIS IS A COVER ! Loads of bands do great covers, eg Tina Turner’s CCWR Proud Mary etc CCWR DID NOT WRITE THIS SONG. Most of the “British Invasion” wrote their own songs . After the second Beatles album proper, The Beatles never again did covers !!!! They wrote their own . Rolling Stones eventually wrote their own songs by 1965 With the honourable exception of CCWR , who wrote some wonderful songs , most American bands of that era, as opposed to solo artists , where utter utter shit ! Jefferson Airplane lol. Grateful Dead? Good god no. The Doors ? An intimidation of Van Morrison’s Them . Solo artists yes. CCWR were the only US band who were really popular in Europe in that era . That’s why the “British invasion” occurred so easily . Those US bands flopped when they went outside of the US . Doors ? Please they struggled not to get booed in the US . Beach boys had their moment sure, but it was just a moment, they were too corny after 1966 . Anyway, for most part the “invasion” was a bit of a false one , it was just the Beatles . Rolling Stones had their highs and lows and went missing at the end of the decade until they came back strong The Kinks got banned because of petty protectionism from the US. The Kinks went off and wrote their best stuff thereafter . The US didn’t get peak The Who (the singles ) until after Woodstock Tom Jones did alright but that was mostly later The Yardbirds had so many changes
Takes great to unsurpassed levels 😂🤦♀️😂. Clearly don’t know what you are talking about . Typical brain dead nationalistic American . Why bring up nationalism anyway IF CCWR actually wrote the fucking song, and were the first to record it, sure, that meaningless comment of yours might have made sense. But, they didn’t and it doesn’t
It’s a bit more romantic than the other versions. Powerful, but without malice. He almost sounds righteous, the others make you want to run to the witch doctor to get some help breaking the spell 😅 Incredible song and band 💜
I'm 19 and has been listening to Jay Hawkins's original version lately. Today found this beautiful cover. There are young people who listen such a music. We are just quiet, while the pop culture is very loud
I'm 68 now, but over 50 years ago I had all the CCR LP's, and me and my friends wore them out listening to get things as right as we could in our little band. Probably the most fun ever in my youth! We put an ad in the local paper and played a couple small wedding banquets and a pub, just to prove that we could. The money was only a tiny reward to our time, but the fun we had was worth far more than money. Not to mention, that our bassist was underage yet no one questioned it. It was 'the times'. Thank you CCR!
i am in your age, oh Jesus, my young neighbour girl , 13 years, listend to this, I asked her, what are you listening to? Oh, you do for sure not understand, what I am listening at this moment, she told me and I answered" 😂 My Dear, I was in your age in 1968 when I listened to this!!!! And I still do it❤❤❤❤ one of the best songs and performances
John Fogerty is absolutely one of the best guitarist of the era! He never gets enough credit for his awesome sustain, feedback control, and just the intense soul in his playing. Add to that his incredible singing voice and what a package! AND WHAT A VIDEO! Psychedelic to the max! Perfect tripping visuals for this song.
Notgiven Notgiven I agree wholeheartedly with what Mark M said but I truly hated this songAnd still do to this day I love the music but this song Drives me nuts sorry folks it just does.
@@T.R.U.T.H.. I was at a Credence concert back in the day and I was most impressed with Tom's rhythm playing. Great concert! Edit: back in the day was about 47 years ago, in Vancouver, BC
It's old, some young man told me. I told him what Ry Cooder once said There is no old or new, only good and bad music CCR is legendary: Then, now and forever.
This song used to give me the chills every time I listened to it. The album was my brother's and I used to play it when he was out. I couldn't get enough of this song. John Fogerty's vocal is on fire and the guitar is magical. Have heard the original of the song but CCR 's (Fogerty) version is the definitive version. No one else comes close.
greatest version for me the greatest version is done by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown....Arthur has one of the most amazing voices in rock..imo. so does John Fogerty, .no disrespect.
So nice and bring back so many memories. I guess this is a the most popular version and the one we all are familiar with but far from Jay Hawkins original sound. If you want to hear a superb and genuin interpretation of this great tune than listen to 10 years old Angelina Jordan ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nwFloCPXzCs.html
It does not matter, as is your way of comparing their style, it is progressive country knowing that they are from the late 60's, it is my personal opinion Chris, they know their roots.
The downside of youtube is that I go and watch a live video of Jimi Hendrix and then he ruins it for all other guitar players and everything else guitar wise is sub par no matter how great it is. Imagine if Jimi could sing like John or John could play like Jimi. What if.....
A staggeringly good version of the song, one that is strangely unappreciated by the music media. The arrangement, the vocals, that wonderful guitar solo, just fantastic.
Rolled a nice hash joint. Turned on this song nice and loud. My dad knocked on my door. He said nothing like a good joint and music to relax the soul. 🎉😊
I'm 30 years old, my grandma use to love CCR, she passed away a few years ago. I like CCR myself too. I listen occasionally, reminds me of grandma listening to them in the dining-room on the little radio she had on the table. ♥
My all time FAVORITE Song !!!! If this music doesn't reach Deep Down Inside You and MOVE You, they need to check you for a pulse as you must be dead....
You are right, pls listen to the same song as Brian Ferry - with the girls - you might like it - but it is - of course - different - xo - and Joe Bonamassa now is my favorite - maybe you will like him too. Happy Xmas
@@shalomyan369 ok - (someone told me never to send links within comments ?)- there are so many versions and for me, the ORIGINAL is ALWAYS THE BEST! And Fogerty´s voice was a top voice - like Ian Gillans and so many others - here for you - as a private bassist it was nice to me to play it with: pageslinkru-vid.com?search_query=bryan+ferry+i+put+a+spell+on+you
Many of their songs were inspired by the times of the Vietnam war. I was born in 1954, followed CCR all the way. Had all the albums, and wore them out getting things as best I could playing guitar with my friends in our band. Well,... I did the best I could, but we had a blast playing for people. I still watch John Fogerty in RU-vid sessions.
If you listen carefully to this great song, you will see how deep it goes, as the emotions go deeper and deeper, matched by the instrumentals, that match the darkness of the song, mad genius!!
John Fogerty's magical guitar sounds came from a 1969 Rickenbacker 325 Sunburst guitar with the word “ACME” written on the head in yellow paint. The guitar was Fogerty's main instrument during the peak of his Creedence Clearwater Revival days and the one he played onstage at Woodstock, The Ed Sullivan Show and countless concerts all over the world.Feb 16, 2017
Ccr un des meilleurs groupes de rock. Blues.
I listened to an old version around 2AM last year. This is the best version but there's a bluesy edition that works. Many blessings of a nurturing nature.
@@josemaazcue5832 A spell, indeed! The guitar digs smooth, to the core, and then cries, and then takes over, and then smooths again...just overwhelmingly beautiful!
