VoicePlay has been engaged in the theatrical side from day one. All of them have worked for Universal or Disney - they understand what it takes to be in front of people, performing, on a daily basis. Committed Indie artists, they do all of their own EVERYTHING - from arrangements to videos. Layne, the beatbox, has commented that he sees each performance as an art piece. He and Geoff (the bass) do most of the arrangements - this one is an exception because it was arranged by Eli, the main tenor (sitting center stage). The most recent release is Drunken Sailor, and it's hilarious. They are in full theatrical mode. Don't stop until the Patreon list starts, they often go to black and then come back. ... they do that with Drunken Sailor.
I admit, I was quite burned out on Radiohead's version...and really no longer even liked this song. And of course, here comes Voiceplay...and now I have listened to this at least 1000 times. Everything about this is absolutely sublime. I love that its one of the very very few songs that Eli arranged..(It's almost always Layne or Geoff that arrange their songs.) Opening and closing with Cesar was a masterful choice. He conveys so much emotion. I also love that his mirror is in the credits LOL. But this just breathed new life into a song I was pretty much over, and now I'm happy when the Radiohead version comes on the radio again. Brought it back for me!
Ever since Pentatonix decided to pursue careers as independent artists in 2012 on RU-vid I think it’s become the perfect platform for a cappella. It keeps getting better all the time too. Groups like Voiceplay, PTX and Home Free are thriving and I love it. Voiceplay just elevated Creep, you are right, they are masterful! In The Air Tonight is really good too. Thank you!
This so phenomenally fantastic!! These guys can do anything and turn it into gold. Had to grab me a box of tissues for this one. Cesar killed it with his emotions and I feel he deserves a hug, Eli did amazing with this arrangement. I have no words. I mean They all put so many emotions into this song. I was crying through most of it, and I have cried everytime I watch it. It is already on my playlist! Great reaction!! Please react to either their cover of Dream on and Nothing Else Matters.
Caesars' emotional voice always makes me cry just like in their cover of I Can't Make You Love Me. They just did a silly one, Drunken Sailor. Got the pirates back together from Hoist The Colors.
To me this is so special. Love the mirrors for them to look into themselves and so disappointed about themselves. In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins) done recently by Voiceplay. And then there is the ridiculous, rollicking Drunken Sailor which is just plain fun.
another great reaction. absolutely agree about bringing out the pure, raw emotion as if this was a very recent life event for them. LOOOVE VoicePlay. Stay Blessed!!
Wow I really felt that they did that so dramatically love it 😍 that song is one of my favourites so was a bit weary to listen but worth it thank you 👍❤️✌️
Many successful entertainers actually FEEL this way, using their talents to seek approval. They often feel like that is the only meaningful contribution they have... I believe that was the background behind Radiohead releasing the song in the first place.
Voiceplay has a special talent set that grabs you by the emotions and draws out all the feelings of a song. I am convinced that the guy was abused emotionally by the girl before she cruelly abandoned him.
Wow.......... so Powerful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm back, but what you said at the end about Broadway would be so wonderful, if it became "Popular" again among everyone! I have gotten into another "Les Miserables" mood...... This time I think I've watched it 5 times this week, you know by various performances....... Wouldn't that be Wonderful. Maybe someone will listen!
That was beautiful! And actually this group is going to be performing on stage for the show Chicago in November. I thought that was pretty cool. I've seen several different groups/people do this song since PTX does it on the masked singer and I think all of them actually been really good. The mark of a good song, I suppose, lol. ❤
