Wow. Someone didn't do their research. The "flexible glass" was acrylic, made from tree resin. It's still made today, as nylon. Acrylic was rediscovered in 1928 and is now known as plastic, or plexiglass.

The "flexible" glass, is now called, Gorilla glass. Mythbusters, did a series, testing out Gorilla glass or flexible glass, that we now use, in our Smartphones. Therefore, we already figured out, how to make it. However, did they make it in, Ancient times? Possibly. Inventions, are sometimes discovered, by accident. Its possible, it was "discovered" by someone, in Ancient times, but it scared people. Because, glass is supposed to break or shatter. When it didn't shatter, in a thousand pieces, it was deemed to be "magical" or a form of "sorcery", therefore, the inventor was killed for it. Philosophers, inventors, geniuses, etc were killed for their intelligence, because ordinary people were scared of them. So, I believe, that this unbreakable glass was discovered, by accident and the poor inventor, was killed for it. It's a plausible theory.
