George Romero was a awesome guy. He had a haunted attraction in Pittsburgh. It was called George Romero's Fright Nights. It consisted of 3 haunted walkthroughs, two were based off of Romero's Night of the Living Dead, one was the the cemetery and the other was the farmhouse. The 3rd was called The Hall of Nightmares, and had scenes from Creepshow, including Fluffy himself.
Fun fact. In the early 1900's or late 1800's there was a wealthy family, I believe in the upper Midwest, the elderly father, who was cared for by his daughter, would beat her with his cane, and when she got married, he had the husband killed, so she killed him with his own cane. He did not come back for cake though
Leslie Nelson in the first movie and George Kennedy in the second movie... May they both rest in peace, since they are comedy legends that will not be forgotten.
Awesome deep dive y'all did here! Appreciate all the production facts shared, it really enhances that sense of nostalgia for me. Much thanks JoBlo Horror Originals team!!
My mom always referenced this line, when she'd get out of a car, back when I was a kid. Crazy to think that she's the reason I'm a horror/thriller media fan---yet she no longer believes in watching this kinda stuff lol.
Trust me. You DON’T want a Tales From the Crypt revival. *Bad Crypt keeper recast voice “HOWDY fem-boys and GHOULS. Tonight’s show is a spine chilling western themed tale of white guilt, micro-aggressions, and rampant transphobia. We call this horrifying little yarn “Trail of Queers!”
Can we just take a moment to give props to Old Chief Woodenhead? A pretty deep revenge tale with an enchanted tobacco store statue that actually made me shed a tear. I recall catching CREEPSHOW 2 on Cable TV as a kid in the 80's. That segment always gets me. Especially the scream from that young punk with the long hair...😂❤
Damn, a George Romero version of The Stand would have been amazing! Well, assuming he’d be allowed to make it as a trilogy instead of trying to cram everything into a single movie.
Worse or worst: buried up to the neck on a tidal beach- A) Facing the sea B) Facing away from the sea Facing it you would get to see it coming. Facing away you would only hear it...until it suddenly started sloshing around you. I think "B" is worst. Not seeing it coming would be unbearably tense.
The Raft plus Nightmare on Elm Street made me terrified of being sucked into my bed by a goo monster and then shot out in a fountain of blood. I still can’t watch The Raft cuz it terrifies me so much. 😅
These movies along with Return of the Living Dead kickstarted my love of horror.and they were a bit shocking to my 8 year old self.maybe I thought Return was real because of the intro 🤣🤘 thnx as always JoBlo!
Thanks for making such great and entertaining videos, gotta love Creepshow, except that 3rd movie. Speaking of Creepshow 3, are you guys ever gonna look at the making of that movie? I'm wondering how that one was made, I hope you do. Anyways keep on making great videos.
I adore both these films, Just got in the Arrow remaster of Creepshow 2 a couple weeks ago. Overall I do love the 1st one the best, BUT, my favorite story of the 2 films is on Creepshow 2, that being The Raft, of all the stories on both films The Raft is my favorite, and I wish someday someone would make that story into a feature length film of it's own. I think it could be done in a horror masterpiece kind of way under the right director and cast.
The Dawn of the Dead newspaper print ad at the 3:48 mark I immediately recognised as Australian noticeably Melbourne, Victoria. Of the Drive-ins listed only Coburg still exists and is run by Village although Hoyts still has many cinemas. I still remember seeing Batman ‘89 for the first time there.
Two great movies I can watch over and over again. Great work bringing together all the behind the scenes stuff. While the first movie is an undeniable classic, the second one has a fantastic charm and some great camp that make for a very fun ride. Hats off to all involved in bringing us these great movies. 😁😎🍿📺
I REMEMBER WATCHING CREEPSHOW AND CREEPSHOW 2 ON TNT'S MONSTERVISION WHEN I WAS YOUNGER TRUE STORY. AND NOW THAT I HAVE CREEPSHOW ON DVD THAT I BOUGHT AT FYE BACK IN 2006 AND WATCHING CREEPSHOW 2 ON TUBI IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS.
I think Something to Tide you Over and Old Chief Woodn'head are my two favorite segments from across the two - the first because I love me some villainous Leslie Nielsen plus the music is haunting, and the second because that cigar store statue costume was fantastic and quite eerie - it would've been easy enough just to make the statue come alive into a normal guy, but leaving him as a walking statue makes it so much spookier, with the actor's stiff movements and dead eyes.
This used to come on several times a year on my local uhf channel. However until I got the VHS many years later I had no idea "They're Creeping Up on You" existed because it was always edited out for tv.
I'm forever stuck with the memory of being out in Arizona so my buddy could meet some chick he tricked over some phone chat. She and her parents actually let us strangers crash and they were GREAT hosts. I sat around everyday just smoking pot and drinking beers while watching Cartoon Network. One day her mom was showing us around and next thing I know I'm at the FN lake fron 'The Raft'!? Like WHAT?!? Are you serious?!?..but the sad part is no camera and no one but me ever saw the movie. Like maaaaaan!
King may play it too broad in The Lonesome Death but otherwise that story is my favorite of the first movie. The idea of something foreign growing in you killing you is terrifying and of course parallels the awful reality of cancer and other conditions. Then the end shot of the alien weeds spreading towards town as it's about to rain is nigh on apocalyptic.
So many classics from that era that I still love to rewatch. Creepshow both 1 & 2 I try to get a watch around Halloween. King during his cocaine era was a lot of hit and misses but it was always entertaining for me.
Ya know, I always thought Ted Denson's head underwater was shot upside down and Ted was just hunched over a tank and could simply lift his head up if he ran outta breath.
"I want my cake, Bedelia!" "This is going to be extremely painful, Mr. Verrill!" " I can hold my breath a long time!" " I drove out there with the remains of three human beings... well, two human beings and Wilma." "Bastards!"
I would absolutely pay a top premium price to see that lost hour of Creepshow. Like finding a lost treasure. Love you guys, I never miss a single upload!👍
I love creepshow and creepshow 2. I think creepshow is one of the best horror anthology movie's. I like every segment in creepshow and creepshow 2. I think the crate is my favorite segment in the first creepshow and the raft is my favorite segment in creepshow 2. I really like all the segment's in both film's though. I also really like the creepshow TV series.
Good old Creepshow, PS. guys that new Shout Factory 4k Creepshow bluray, is a really nice remaster, it's totally worth picking up, they even released Creepshow 3 on remastered Bluray? never thought I would see the day that movie was put on bluray.
It's funny that Hal Holbrook and Adrienne Barbeau went from both being in "The Fog" but with no scenes together, to then in this film where almost all of her scenes are with him! They were a delight in this!
I'd love to see a 'REAL' Creepshow 3 in cinema's. I fear if it was made today though, they'd only mess it up with woke politics and social justice pandering, so it's probably for the best it gets left as it is.
Creepshow III (2006) already exists. Not surprisingly, it is not as good as the first two. You can still dream of a real Creepshow 4, though, where all of the cis males get eaten and everyone else survives.
I'm surprised the fact that the actor playing Sam Whitemoon in the "Old Chief Wood'nhead" segment wasn't actually Native American. It was Holt McCallany in his first major film role. In redface.
I love 2. I just wish they Included one more story. 3 stories just felt a bit short, although I guess the animated wrap-around was a little more fleshed out in 2 to make up for it.
