That was great. Wish there had been more duo bosses following the theme. We had Drac/Death, Stella/Loretta and a pair of evil Doppelgangers, but Slogra and Gaibon are still relegated to being regular enemies instead of bosses, and Minotaur and Werewolf don't get a chance either. Or any two traditional Castlevania bosses being paired together in a complimentary way, really. The sky's the limit.

That always cracked me up. One of the hardest Metroidvanias and Dracula doesn't even bother with a second form, he just walks over and kicks Shanoa's teeth in.

Hardest order of ecclesia boss is definitely the shadowdancer guy. You need a very precise pattern of jumping and striking cuz one hit from him removes half of ur health.

@@tacoman422 Yeah, the Dark Meggido is a VERY strong spell, it even blasts through invincibility cheats. He has infinite health too so the only way to win is to use [Dominus]

it is weird seeing it honestly but i guess if it can happen in aria of sorrow if you completed a extra mode where you do some boss or bosses to get the fastest time (idk honestly), then i guess it is fine.

Same happened with TLOZ phantom hourglass, just that i was with the final boss, and everything else was complete

Same happened to me, after finishing like, half of the nest of evil my save got corrupted. I had to replay the game to get there again. Luckily after replaying it I did complete it. It was tough as fuck

Same happened with me when I was playing my downloaded version of Kid Icarus Uprising, except it wasn't just the save data, it was my entire download history. My micro SD card got corrupted, and I had to buy a new one, and redownload all that I had. That includes all my save Data for PKMN Yellow and Crystal, Shovel Knight, Cave Story, Shantae Pirates Curse, and more, like my wallpapers and game updates. Somehow, my two DSI ware games luckily didnt get effected, Shantae Risky's Revenge, and more luckily for me, Zelda Four Swords, which isnt even available on the system anymore! Guess those were saved on the system's memory.

I renember not being able to beat the boss because of the flute even in main quests I would spent tons of time playing it and the song not working

Funnily enough, this game does freeze on occasion, actually, it's happened to me at least twice, when none of the others have.

Same experience, bro. That and I hated the circus paintings. Oh, and the fact that we'll never get the Demon War 1999 Castlevania title despite having Portrait of Ruin and Aria of Sorrow.

I guess it depends on how devs look at video-games a medium, and how they see rewards in general. In a way, an ending is a game's ultimate reward. It's the culmination of the player's (and by extension, the character's) efforts. It'd make sense to reward more someone who put more effort than someone who didn't. They put more effort into it, so they should've more return on their investment. On the otherhand, it doesn't really take into account the player's skill as, well, a player. To some, like kids or people who know nothing about video-games, playing on easy is already extremely hard. So playing on the harder difficulty is out of the question. And yet they are punished for doing their best, which is considered "subpar" for some arbitrary reason. Both reasonings are valid, but there are equally as many reasons to favor one over the other. In real life, people who don't do well enough, even if they do their best, are rarely rewarded as well as those who do well. But, on the flipside, videogames are not real life. They are a medium. They tell a story. And it doesn't make much sense for a story to change based on the player's performance. A movie won't change just because you decided to watch it on a DVD instead of a theater. Imo, both approaches are valid, they just need to fit the game, and they need to be handled properly (unlike Castlevania, where it's mostly "go to a random area of the game and find an item/skill the only way you'll be able to know you need is via a cryptic hint you get from beating the bad ending.")

Most game devs past the 90's don't do that.

It's an 80s/90s thing, don't worry about it. Back then easy was just seen as for younger children or keeping the truer ending as an award for playing on a harder mode. I remember this happening on Disney games a lot, like Hercules.

I think Golden Axe nails it really well. There is a Beginner mode, where you can go only to up to the 4th stage (but the boss is a different one from the normal difficulty), and when you finish it, you just see a little message telling you that "more adventures awaits you", instead of the regular little ending and staff roll. It doesn't really blame the player for going easy, it's just telling you that the game's true experience is on the normal difficulty, and grants you a "exclusive" boss fight for doing so.

SoR4 has no bad endings, though.
