Hollie was the greatest. Our friendship started about 1971 or 72. We worked together in the Air force at Francis E Warren AFB in Cheyenne Wyoming as water and waste specialist in the Civil Engineering Department. He didn't bring his Music to work but the weekends, he and his band would draw full crowds at the nightclubs where he performed. He always wanted me to sing with him and when I walked into the club where he was performing, he always invited me to the stage and once he got me to sing "My Girl". That was one of the highlights of my life but that wasn't the business I wanted to be in. We took a road trip once, he went to Harrisburg Pennsylvania and I went on to Washington DC. Hollie was my buddy. I always think about him and the joy he brought to my life and many, many other. He always had a smile and kind word to say. He believed in me more than I believed in myself. I am bless to have spent a lot of time with him.
Your welcome, I only meet him once and knew him strictly through his music. Talent is a gift that can sometimes opens many doors and creates opportunities. It seemed his other talent was making friends and he excelled at that as well. Pain comes and goes but our love will never die.
It is like hearing Nick again. What a great singer and showman. I know he is so missed by his family, friends and bandmates. RIP, Creighton! Thanks for posting this. Hope there is more posted in the future.
