Did it make it through the honeymoon? tell me what you think about kayak manufacturers and their listed kayak weights? Who is accurate and who fluffs the numbers? I know this won't be a popular video, but it is the TRUTH..... so weigh your boats and let me know what you come up with, is your company telling the truth about their product?

My impressions of the Crescent Lite Tackle my friend had were similar. The boat's functional weight capacity was lower than anticipated, making it more unstable than it should be under load. Didn't have a scale, but the weight felt closer to the (og) Kilroy I had at the time too. Walked away very unimpressed given the specs/performance it was supposed to have.

Appreciate this video. I get a manufacturer weighing without a seat that can be removed, as long as they say that's how the listed weight was measured. But listing the weight of the plastic alone, especially without disclosing that, is ridiculous. And I just checked their website. There's no asterisk or footnote by the weight listed to explain how they do it. It's also not in their frequently asked questions. That said, I wonder what other manufacturers are doing this. I have noticed Jackson kayaks seem to be heavier than average, but maybe they're just just the most honest.

I know from my time with Jackson, the weight listed is every screw, track and pad that comes on the kayak and listed with or without seat. I'd love for that to be the industry standard!

I love my 2022 Bite, but would've sworn it was at least 10lbs heavier than the listed weight of 78lbs. I appreciate you confirming that the listed weight for the Bite is accurate. Many kayak consumers can't test paddle and compare different models of kayaks on the water, so rely heavily on manufacturers to publish accurate specs. Thanks for the video.

Lots of kayak specific dealers/shops do allow demos or have scheduled demo days! Just have to get lucky with a good shop though.

AMEN! I'm one of those that's made purchase choices factoring in the weight of the craft and its weight capacity. Now since a recent neck surgery and shoulder issue I'm focusing on both sides of the Weight coin even moreso. There definitely needs to be transparency in regards to Product Weight and Weight Capacity, as Kayaks these days are an Legit Investment, and we need to know specs to make a truly informed decision.

I hope you are taking your BP meds before doing these videos. I get it, I'm with you 100%. You and me are heifers, we're big boyz! This one isn't gonna cut it for guys like us. What is the difference between this and Inflatable boards? Weight! That's about it! So if you are of smaller stature, get an inflatable board especially if you are looking for light weight. My Bite FD is a monster! It's heavy. At first I roof loaded it and I got tired of that quickly. I built a sweet trailer and using it is a lot more fun now. HOWEVER I will be in the market for a smaller lightweight rig in the next couple of years because of my crazy ideas of becoming a nomad. I'll keep watchin, you keep up wit da FUNK!

Completely agree man! Well said! The consumer should know the true weights of all boats that are in the plastic bag. Not without what it comes with that is needed to even use the boat from the fsctory.

Honesty is the best policy. More respect, and increased consumer trust in the manufacturer. Which, in turn, would have potentially more sales and brand following.

Wow, that's very deceptive. Crescent should change bc part of their brand is connecting with consumers and being almost like a boutique brand.

I think more so than just them the industry as a whole needs to come clean. I know Jackson tells the true full weight accurately. I think everyone should !

I agree that there should be a standard way of listing boat weights, at this time there is not a standard. Like you stated some manufactures list empty weight, rigged weight, with seat without seat, or whatever. However, if the manufacturer, whomever that may be, lists the boat at a weight of the plastic that is used to make it, as long as that weight is correct, it isn't a lie. While you may feel it to be dishonest, deceptive, lazy, or that they don't care about their customers (and i get that you feel that way), feelings are not facts. Fact is, that unless proven otherwise the weight listed by that manufacturer, the manufacturer has not been any of those things. So I am very curious to see what the K-Craft weighs without all the rigging versus the listed weight, too bad we both sold ours so now neither can do it easily. Again, I get the emotion behind your video and I empathize with you from the point of there should be a standard. But like I said you cannot hold anyone or any manufacturer up to a standard that does not exist or one that you feel should exist. However, why don't we work with the industry as a whole and try and make all manufactures list the weights of their products the same? The reason is that there is no easy way to do that. There is no Kayak Manufacturing Ethics Board, Committee, ISO, or anything of the kind. Your video is a good start in one aspect and that is to ask all manufacturers to list weights the same, that much we agree upon, but I don't know if the title and beginning of this video is right for that. The first part of the video was your after the honeymoon phase, and honestly, I had no issues with it at all. You gave your honest feedback based on your experience. However, it is the second part of the video that you begin to go off of the "after the honeymoon" topic. That is where you lost me to be honest, I understand that Crescent is the manufacturer of the K-Craft, and that they are in the spotlight already so it's easy to transition to calling them out first and then bringing in the rest of the industry, but if you really want to address the entire industry, you may want to do another video that pleads to all of them to hear your concerns, just my opinion, take it for what it's worth. One could say the same for how the weight capacity is determined. measured, and listed. However there is no standard for that for the kayak industry as well, the simple answer is that some manufactures simply use a formula designed by the US Coast Guard to determine weight capacity, but we have all been in little plastic boats that don't exactly meet those ratings. But no manufacturer has to release how they got to those numbers, whether they are overrating or underrating capacity. By the way, I am not sponsored by any kayak manufacturer. nor was I ever sponsored by one, I just happen to promote those that I liked and those that treated me fairly and those with products that I liked. I have owned many different brands and models and liked some and didn't like others, to include models from the same manufacturer.

Understand, and thank you for your response. Sorry if you thought I strayed off topic, but honestly the weight alone was the biggest reason for the pass/fail to me, so it got the lions share of the discussion. Unfortunately that also led to a pile of research into other companies that either do it right, or in my opinion, do it very wrong. I would love to see an industry standard, I guess the one company I served so long kind of spoiled me to a higher mark.

Not in most kayaks, but 75 ain't 63 either... I already have 2, 78 pound boats, I needed a throw and go lighter rig. Thankfully the NRS Kuda filled that gap. But glad you got a laugh out of it....
