+yakidin63 I believe its good. But all public is waiting for multi role cheap stealth dog fighter. The thing is F35 does not suppose to be dog fighter. When there were serious dog fights? Only in Korean war against russian Migs, these was long time ago. So nobody wants a Dog Fighters.
No fighter pilot who knows what they are doing is looking for turning fights, but the best fighter pilots train for them regularly in the event that they happen. So far, the F-35 has better energy and maneuverability than legacy aircraft because it carries stores internally, has way more thrust, and took lessons-learned from 4th Gen DLFCS and DEEC and stepped up that game well ahead of the previous generations. People don't seem to realize that most of the systems in the F-35 were developed from or because of systems in the F-16C, AFTI F-16, VISTA F-16, NASA F/A-18, and spill-over with improvements from the F-22A program. The idea that Lockheed-Martin would make a less capable aircraft than what the services are asking for doesn't hold up well once you actually see some of what is in the F-35, and what it does. If you want to stay limited to the WVR performance comparison, look at this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SPqUvCnWcrk.html
I'm glad to see the new tailhook design is working well. I hope this model works out for the Navy, considering how much time, money and effort has been devoted to system.
Oh yeah, Love this company and it's innovations. Always taking it to the next level. It should be Galt's Gulch up in there if anyone had access to meet the top scientist and engineers there.
Cost can only be measured vs. benefit. Social programs have the benefit of not having hungry mobs and dead bodies on the streets (in case you don't care about solidarity at all).
***** It makes far more sense to spend enormous sums of money on "social programs"! It is our country after all and what does it say about a country that refuses to take care of their own? Taking care of our own is the very definition of patriotism. We're not Somalia.
marton david Social programs run amok have created entire generations of people completely dependent on government. That has now become their primary purpose because it keeps them voting Democrat. Socialism and dependency destroys societies. Freedom, personal responsibility, innovations, free markets and hard work builds them.
FrakU2 If we get any more socialist, we'll become Somalia. See Cuba, Venezuela, and others for examples. Socialism creates tyranny, crony-style capitalism, endemic corruption, deprivation and economic collapse everywhere it takes root.
StereoSpace I don't want "socialism" as you would define it! I am fiscally conservative on spending of any kind. I may be a liberal but I do believe in limits. I think there is a balance between taking care of our own and a well regulated free market system. In case you haven't noticed we already have a "crony-style" capitalistic system. I would argue a plutocracy. A plutocracy running both parties. Time to get them all OUT.
That's the USMC variant F-35B that is STOVL. This is the USN's F-35C which is conventional catapult and trap design. This variant doesn't need the STOVL and therfore it has better fuel/range/wing loading than the other ones.
There is only 20" airframe commonality across the 3 variants. The F-35A is substantially different than the F-35B and F-35C, which are substantially different from each other. The integrated avionics/sensor suite are the more common core components across the variants, not the airframes.
I hope this is true. Do you really think they'll be truthful with the admirals and corporate owners making the video? Come on. Every failed weapon produced the same kind of PR garbage.
