@@8Yassi Me too. I also bought one (shifter) a little longer, and shaped different. The original stuck out so far from the motor. I would sometimes catch it accidently. Thank GOD for aftermarket.
I feel ya man, i was hating life when I first got my boots, i have the O'Neal rider boots and they look very similar to yours. now i feel so naked aand unprotected when i ride to the stor or something without them haha. Keep up the vids!
I have a crf250f and bought the exact same boots, went out super excited to use them, made it about a half mile and turned around to take them off. Lol. I'll try moving my lever too. Thanks!
I have some O'Neill and they are big at the toe. Had to adjust the shifter up just a tad. Worked great. Meanwhile, the leather in the boot was so stiff, I couldn't bend at the ankle at first. Now that has improved some after a couple of rides. Good vid! Adjustment on the X300 Versys took about 3 minutes to do.

I thought I couldn’t shift properly because I’m new at it but after spending hours on the bike and not being able to shift out of first, I was thinking it’s gotta be the boots. I got so fed up with the learning process and wanted to wear my normal shoes. I’m going to adjust the shifter and try again 😊
I just bought a pair of these boots yesterday, my first pair of dirtbike boots. I was getting used to shifting okay, but couldn't brake normally at all. It was like slamming on the rear break every time I tried. I can't flex my ankle or feel my pegs at all. Been riding a HD Sportster for 15 years and just got a KLX250 dual sport. Whole different boot feel and function.
@@prestondickson9 I returned the O'Neal boots and got Gaerne All-Terrain GTX boots. They still make a similar model. They offer me enough protection for the way I ride and I can feel my pegs and foot controls. Also have good grip when off of the bike.
Ironic just scheduled my shft pedal to be adjust up yesterday! Crazy! On my bike I believe it will give me .33 of an inch. But shifting not only problem with my boots Touccan Alpina I think not big onbrands someone told me best so I got them. I cant feel when I shift cant tell when the kick stand is down. Actually dropped brand new bik on tarma bcs of this. I'm going back to states in Oct and I will buy another paire for when I know I wont be crossing rivers and either keep these or sell them! My botts are mor hardcore ADV it was the gortex that I want and need on some rides.
I attempted to ride with new boots and didn't get out of the neighborhood. I couldn't shift or brake normally (like with street boots). Thanks for the cheat. This will help during the boot break in period
Great vid, thanks! My issue is that I can’t get my toes up high enough to reset the shifter each time I shift, so I have to move the shifter down a bit. But I also have the issue of having to really tilt my toes downward to get under the shifter too, so I have to strike a balance.
A bit late but dual-cross foot position is similar to motocross when in mx boots: balls of feet on pegs and move your feet to shift up or down and/ or brake. Trying to flex the ankle to shift will only ever work one way. Be that up or down the other direction is going to suffer. So, get used to stomping I guess. We all do eventually. The alternative is metal toe-box upshifting and that rarely works-out well.
HEY BRO GOOD VID BUT IT ALSO HELPS IF YOU BREAK THE BOOTS IN BY HAND FOR A FEW MINUTES (ABOUT FIVE) , ALSO WEAR THEM FOR A BIT ABOUT 30 MIN THEN RIDE BEFORE YOU RE-POSITION THE SHIFTER.
Yeah, totally! Just raise the shifter one notch and break in the boots. Best way to do that is just ride. I wore them around the house too for a couple days. Haha
Nice tip mate 👍🏼. One for you is get a cheap after market gear lever (with the sprung flip up end). Reason being the stock lever is too strong and people have snapped their spline in the event of a hard crash, rather than the stock lever snapping. Far rather a £20 after market lever snap than the spline!

I been having the same issue I put the bike away today after like 10 min it was really distracting I almost dumped the bike twice feeling around for my shift and rear brake levers Im gonna try moving the shift lever up a bit hopefully it helps. Thanks for sharing !
Yeah, Michael, try moving the shifter up and just keep practicing. I had the same issue. It was very distracting. The same word I would use. But I quickly adapted.
yessss I'm having this exact problem, thank you! my boots also push my toes out & away from my bike so I have to do a crescent shape to get my foot onto the brake. going to try to adjust for that as well.
I have a 2019 crf250l and I'm actually about to buy those very same boots too so I guess that's why this was in my suggested videos haha The boots look great I cant wait to have the extra protection for trail riding and exploring off the beaten path!

I bought the gaerne fastback enduro boots thinking I would use them for a trip from Texas to California. I should've tested them out before the day to leave came because I had to use my old boots I plan to adjust the gearshift once I get back from California Dang it

Same boots. Loved my work boots from before, could articulate my ankle up to shift vs full leg shift and was more gentle on the brake. I feel like a ogre.
Ha! we have the same boots and every time i would shift into neutral which is so annoying! braking is pretty easy but the boots are way more comfortable but i also have nerf bars so its even harder getting my foot under the shifter lol im also 13 with a yfz 450r 2016

Ive just brought my second hand 2017 cf250l and riding it home with my boots I had real effort to tuck boot under the gear lever. Thanks for the video but is there any chance you can also link a slowed down version of what you did. I am a complete novice with mechanics but would love to be able to work on my bike.
Unfortunately I don't have the 250 L anymore otherwise I would for you. It's very easy. Remove the plastic sprocket cover to access the bolt on top of the shift pedal. Take the bolt out and remove the pedal slightly and rotate the pedal up one click. The pedal has teeth so it can moved up or down. You could try one click and see how it feels. Hope that helps!
I expected you to say you were going to lower the positron of the shifter. Not raise it. My issue with new boots is I can never raise my foot up enough to upshift. Raising mine would only make it worse. I’m considering lowering mine.
@@dmathis510 yeah I actually lowered mine a bit. Maybe like a few splines in the downward rotation. This made me need less upward movement of my boot. helped a good bit.
@@TwinTurboLsx i have the issue where in the stock lower position i cant get my foot under the shifter, and then moving just one spline up on my bike makes it too high to upshift comfortably, and to downshift i actually have to lift my foot off the peg and step down on the shifter
No, I haven't scratched the bike with the tips. I'd say you could remove it pretty easily but the sole might start to fray there over time? I like the tips. It's good reinforcement in case you kick the dirt or rocks in a turn.
Can these boots used for touring after break-in period? I ride a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and thinking if Gaerne Fastback Enduro would work? Not the most comfortable one, but will it practically work?
These specific boots were low quality and I don't recommend them. Gaerne boots are great. I have some now. Touring in MX boots is not super pleasant but I recommend using MX boots if you are going to be doing any off-roading while touring / adventuring.
@@ZacharyUlrick Thanks Zach for your response. I was initially thinking of adventure touring type boots like TCX Baja, Falco Avantour or even Gaerne Dakar. But their initial protection is good, but most of those become soft and not so protective after a while, which could also happen to the Fastback Enduro boots, but still it would be protective than the adv touring boots. Is my thinking/approach, right? Or MX is a big no for touring on highways and riding on trails?
@@dudefromcbee No, I think your approach is good. Far too many people go for the adventure boot and end up hurting themselves out on the trail. Even if your tour includes 10% off-road you should go with the MX boot in my opinion. The only thing more uncomfortable than an MX boot is a broken ankle after wearing an adv boot. HAHA
@@ZacharyUlrick True that. Too many plastics around the foot area, but should become slightly flexible as I use it. Perhaps this may require a change in posture of legs or getting adapted to gear shifting? Interceptor is not an ADV bike, so foot pegs are slightly behind than a adv bike, but not like a naked bike. Might also need to adjust the levers, if position is not working?

I cannot stand my new boots either cannot break And can not shift Even my old boots are still stiff after twenty years!!! It's going to take a machine to loosen them up But nobody has or makes one!!!!!!!!!
What a shame to have to adjust something on your motorcycle just to accommodate a boot. Adjusting the shift lever is not an option for me because I ride with more than one type of boot. I too have a pair of O’Neils and they will not break in no matter what I try. They are basically useless to me. What a waste of money.
Like what sort of trails, or where? You could check some of my more recent videos for the type of riding I do. I live in Central California. Good luck with the new O'Neal boots. Maybe they have made some improvements? I rode more than the average person tho and they couldn't handle it. My gearne boots are way better.
