Thank you Karen for getting back to me, I figured it out in the meantime, but it was driving me wild because you were furred to it and then I couldn’t find it. Well but it did get me to watch your video about 20 times, so that was a good thing. You’ll be happy to know that I made my husbands stencil with his name with the middles of the letters attached and it looks great. Thanks again.

I was doing this too, great video. I recommen placing those squares strategically. Like along the strokes, which makes it look like a small semi-border lapping over another stroke. It can make it look much cleaner. Much easier to do in Illustratro, just unfortunate that design space doesn't have similar tools such as illustrator.

LOVED your video! I’m new at the this and plan to the stencils for my sugar cookies. I will be using acetate and would like to know which setting on the Cricut would be best to used for cutting? Hi! I have a video using some stencil film. I believe you would cut on the same setting but I always recommend doing a test cut because not every machine is the same. Thank you so much for watching !

to use vinyl, what settings do you need to select to cut it through the sticky layer and the backing

You wouldnt want to cut through the backing.

Yes, thank you... your tutorial was short, simple and got the job done! Question... my Cricut isn't cutting my mylar on mylar setting. I tried using posterboard setting which was better but still not great. Any suggestions? Thanks again!

I got it. New version has all the names in your drop down box. You just look at one you want. Go back to design and choose the font type there.

This video is from many years ago. Text box looks different but everything still functions the same. Slice is absolutely available but if it’s grated out it’s because you have too many or too few layers selected. You can only slice two layers at a time. No to do this you do not need the subscription

I have an explore air 2. I don't get a "weld" option after I've inserted my little boxes. Also - I don't have the option to "unlock" my square shapes. I did have a little bar shape I am trying - but stuck at this weld point. I accidentally created a stencil yesterday - and now can't remember how I did it!!!

Same blade and I use stencil film or plastic sheets. Anything under 1mm works great

I dont know what you're asking. You just weld the little bars to the images to keep anything attached.

@@lisasovitsky1227 with vinyl it's like a sticker so you wont lose it because it sticks to the transfer sheet when you move it. However with stencil film there is nothing for it to stick to so you have to use the little bar to hold it

If you are making a stencil you will want the centers of the letters to remain in place so you do not need to place each center individually. This is really only needed when making stencils that are not made from a product like vinyl

No. The expression is a very outdated machine and does not work with cricut design space

I did this and my machine cut my letters out where you said weld the little mark. Did I perhaps hit something besides weld them? I just have a bunch of cut up letters

you likely didnt have the line touching somewhere. it needs to overlap a the letter and the center a little bit or it will leave a cut line

You mean it has to touch the middle and outside of the letter itself or that it has to touch the middle of the letter and the center of like the e or a?

Hard to say. Sounds like maybe a design space issue but you won’t see cut lines anymore just the bridges between the letters should stay

@@barbra429 when you cut a stencil in your cricut and its not an adhesive product like vinyl the center parts of the letters fall off. If you dont want them to do that you have to attach them to the outside of the letter to keep them in place. Otherwise you would have to hand place every center and they would likely come up and ruin your design when you paint

Love your videos less talk more action. I do have a problem with actually what the videos is about. I have done it over and over again. I used a simple word Home. No matter where I position the attaching bar for the center of the e and o, and doesn’t stay attached. I followed step by step.I must have watched your video a dozen times. Please help. Thank you.

Are you welding the bar? The bridge must touch the outside of the O and the inside

@@CorinneBlackstone I welded the bar from the end to the middle, I welded the bar straight through to both sides. I be tried every possible way. I am trying to make a reusable stencil, if it was a vinyl one time use material , I could probably get away with weeding out the letters and attaching transfer tape. Very frustrating.
