What comes across more than anything in these Crime-watch TV episodes, is how the death of a loved one leaves a massive vacuum in a family’s life, especially if the crime is unsolved and nobody is ever brought to justice. The aftermath of a murder must be the most awful of experiences, because when the dust has settled and the home of the victim has been cleared and sold or rented out to someone else, the memories plus the home video are all that are left, with the pain and suffering around forever probably. I bet there’s not a day that has gone by where family and friends haven’t said to themselves, “what would have been” ? I have often wondered how much support and help families of murder victims get in our society, then and now.

The horrible foreshadowing of what the actress said in the reconstruction of Daniel's case. She said "He'd help anyone" and at the time of filming, they didn't know that he'd been taken by two men who got him into their car under the impression they needed help understanding a local map.

Daniel Handley's case haunts me to this day. Who knows what path he would have followed in life. He seemed to have a huge personality and a lot of cheekiness. Bless that little boy too trusting for his own good. I always told my children that adults don't need the help of children for anything, and to ignore any requests to help look for/at something. Poor Daniel I will always remember the case, and the revulsion of hearing what happened to him. RIP sweet boy🚲🎈🏀🧸

The murder of Julie Pacey has bugged me since the first time i watched this episode back in 1994. The young girl who saw the man walking directly onto Julie's drive and walked straight into the house, why would someone know to open a front door and walk in? he must have seen day before that at that time Julies house is open for kids to come home. He walked in but didn't have the nerve to attack? maybe saw the school walking and thought she may be coming there. He had workman's overalls yet no van or vehicle he might have wasn't seen, when he saw Julie drive past he ran back and carried out this horrible crime. Its likely he has carried out other crimes but seems to have avoided detection, Julies family deserve closure hopefully he'll be found soon
@dk401
@dk401 3 года назад
For me, it seems that the clues point to someone who had worked on the new housing estate close to Julie's house in the days and weeks before the murder. The murderer could have seen her, took a liking to her, planned the assault when he went in the house aa couple of days before and carried out the assault in the knowledge that he would be close to a main road leading out of the town. Its really frustrating there's a full dna profile which is unmatched. It's time the law changed and police were allowed to look at familiar dna that people upload to dna history websites, there's the information there to solve several unsolved murders.

I've just been reading about the murder of Julie Pacey so I thought I'd watch this. When they're discussing it Nick Ross says that the suspect in blue overalls has thinning hair "as we can see", but that isn't the case with either the e-fit picture or the actor in the reconstruction (who has a noticeably thick head of hair), and I don't remember reading this detail anywhere else. It seems reasonably important, because if he had thinning hair when he was in his mid-30s in 1994, he's probably bald by now, if he's still alive. As evidenced by the actor playing him being reported as the suspect when they re-showed this decades later - that actor isn't bald now. The suspect might be if his hair was thinning 30 years ago.

It's quite startling how someone probably/quite simply just walked into Julie Paceys house in broad daylight and rubbed her out like chalk on a whiteboard then after sexually assaulting and strangling her walked off into obscurity. All the while their was no sign of struggle , she was wierdly fully clothed, no forced entry and the DNA traced in 2015 isn't on the national database so either the assailant is a psychopath who covers his tracks very well or something is seriously wrong with how this crime has been investigated.

I've always thought Julie Pacey murder was committed by a member of the Travelling community. I don't for one second think she was having an affair or knew her killer . Asking for directions was a common ruse or excuse for being somewhere you shouldn't be in those days , couldn't do it nowadays cause of SatNav . Possibly a man unable to father children or Familia DNA might break the case. Where ever the assailant come from he knew his purpose before he left home that morning and had indeed been planning it for sometime. Almost certainly still alive but leading a very careful life , sly enough to gauge he could still be caught. Lives within a 60 mile radius.

The Julie Pacey murder is a very strange case. Firstly, I think the BMW lead is a red herring of some sort. Why would Julie drive one around and not tell anyone in her family about it. I do, however, believe the acquaintance who saw the BMW go into her driveway on the day. There could be a connection although Julie was seen after this sighting. 'Overalls Man' is the most likely culprit. Especially if the neighbour around the corner saw him running after Julie's car shortly before the murder. Perhaps he was doing a rec on the Friday when the girl saw him? I also wonder if there is a link between this and the Sharon Harper murder, also in Grantham a few months before. They only link appears to be they both occured in a relatively small town a few months apart as the modus operandi seem to be different. Whatever happened I hope both Julie and Sharon's loved ones see justice done soon.

So for me, access to a BMW 5-series (which was certainly worth more than her own Audi at the time and quite a car) and being actually seen driving this BMW around her own estate yet her own husband had no idea of this suggests that she may been having an extramarital relationship with someone who owned that car, possibly some sort of businessman, she may have tried to bring about some pressure or blackmail against this person where they may had to silence her using some paid hitman? Yes, I know it sounds very TV drama like but it isn't like these things don't happen. The internet (for the public at least) let alone Facebook or camera phones didn't really exist then, so gossip could be easily offset, or, Julie and her husband had open relationships but kept it quiet because of the children?

That’s got me thinking, actually! I wonder how CW went about recruiting actors for their reconstructions back in the day? Obviously I assume the cops would have briefed them on each perp’s reported physical description before casting. But considering both organisations were appealing for people with the same characteristics, I wonder if they ever shared resources? How weird would it be if it turned out a murderer had actually ended up playing themselves and reliving their crime in a Crimewatch reconstruction, mere months after doing it for real??? 😳🤭🤯

He knew of her but shedidn't know him . She definitely wasn't having an affair . I doubt the BMW sightings and would suggest the killers mode of transport was more likely a plain colour transit sized van . I hope the Police send the DNA off for ancestral profiling soon . It may well narrow the search considerably. Not only did the killer destroy a decent woman and her family , but the idea that the daughter found the body is just heartbreaking .

Yeah it was a different time. I used to walk from Chiswick to Brentford leisure centre around the same time and I was 9 also. I wouldn’t let my 9 year old do it. Tbh it was probably less safe then because there wasn’t as much cctv so people could get away with it. Either way, 25 years ago or today, no 9 year should really be left to his own devices in the city. But unfortunately crimes like this are lessons to society.

@johnniethepom2905
@johnniethepom2905 5 лет назад
I 100% guarantee she wasn't having an affair. She was murdered by someone who briefly encountered her sometime before the crime . It could have been someone who called door to door touting for property maintenance / block paving etc . It could be the garage or dealership where they bought or serviced their car . Most likely the killer was not the principal ie point of sale car salesman but a mechanic or car valet gardener etc . He could well be a traveling fella or second hand car salesman. He would almost certainly frequent car auctions , markets , horse sales . Still believe this case is solvable. The culprit is probably 55 to 60 yrs old now . Unless he has met with an untimely death he's still out there . I don't think he has reoffended for two reasons 1 , the feelings he achieved from commiting the crime were below his expectations and left him unfulfilled. 2 He doesn't live locally but he lives within an hour or so drive and is still fearful of someone making the vital connection .
