And if you go by is own source, it was 63 countries which is 10 more than 1 EVERY week. It's possible some don't celebrate it, but his source doesn't even mention who does and who doesn't, so it's a pretty useless source. All it proves is 63.

Columbia is a common name for towns in the USA. When I was growing up there was one about 15-30 minutes from where I lived. One day while at a friend's house, her parents were reading the newspaper. The article they were reading out loud and commenting on was how the beautiful wooden sign for the Columbian Cemetery kept getting stolen, but only the top half of the sign. Us girls were giggling away in the bedroom at this. We were in middle school, but we understood why this was being done. My friend's older sister, held her finger to her mouth with a sly smile, pulled open her dresser drawer, and there lay one of the Columbian signs that had been stolen. Of course this made us laugh even harder. This still makes me laugh just to think about it.

There's a vid for your other channel. Labor Day was created by the US gov't to give workers a holiday from work in between July 4th and Thanksgiving. With the insertion of Labor Day into the calendar on the first Monday in September, now workers wouldn't have to wait more than just a couple months throughout the year before getting some kind of work holiday. I think it was one of FDR's New Deals.

So when I was ~11, I was trying to separate an extension cord from a cord plugged into it. I did not realize that the other end of the cord was still plugged in and I tried separating the cords with my teeth. It sent me across the room. As I landed on my butt literally and figuratively shocked, my sister was laughing so hard she almost puked. Darwin Award for me.

So the US has a law that if you assist in the commission of a crime that results in a death, you are guilty of that death, even if you had nothing to do with it - even if none of your accomplices had nothing to do with it. That’s how the would-be arsonist got convicted of manslaughter. The US is very much a “vengence is justice” sort of country.

(though, this is no longer always true, some schools start in August, and some schools are now year-round.) Sometimes also seen as the "start of the party season" since there's a party for the start of school (the first weekend, often at more respectable schools as "mixers" and "Get to know you" parties), two weeks into school, a month of school (though these are often reserved to the "Party Universities"), Octoberfest, Halloween (on October 31), Thanksgiving (third Thursday of November, but typically a very family oriented affair), the MANY parties leading up to Christmas by just about anyone and everyone, and culminating in New Years Eve. There isn't another "Party" date until next September's Labor Day, birthdays and anniversaries not withstanding.

Simon, I love your videos, I have been a long time reader of the I Found Out website, but only recently sought out your videos on RU-vid, and honest. they are amazing. I have subscribed to all of them. I have even recently bought some merch, although you likely don't need my middling contribution by now, I am glad to support your channels. Also for a tiny comment, your ears do have tiny bones. While the outer ear is comprised of mostly cartilege and skin, the inner ear has 3 tiny bones that are essential for hearing.

Simon, I have unable to track down a story from Japan that appeared, I think, about 10 years ago. It's the gun store robbery, Japanese style. For would be "robber", substitute 6 or 7 Yakuza wannabees. They are here on this quiet street to shake down a grocer for protection. For " gunshop", substitute martial arts dojo....about 20 staff and students. Results? Yeah.... Grocer not quite a victim? Two doors down....

There are in fact bones in your ear, just not the part of your ear you're thinking of. The three bones of your inner ear are both the only bones in the human body not connected to the rest of the skeletal system, and by far the hardest bones to break. If you were to fall from a skyscraper, the only part of your body that would remain intact are your ear bones.

Gun store case reminds me case when 3 guys tried to rob slaughterhouse with small knives... and started knife fight with butchers... which had meat cleavers. 2 of them died in fight and last one ran to highway... and got hit by truck.

The story about the death row inmate being electrocuted on his metal toilet is like "Chinese whispers" and changes from one telling to the next. In Spike TV's "A Thousand Ways to Die" the guy has a different name and tells the public defender (barrister to you Brits) that he should bring his wife so they can have a fun time together after he delivers the news. Then he goes to use his TV on the toilet to watch his favorite show and is electrocuted when he turns on the TV. Nothing about headphones.

In regards to "Final Destination", does anyone else find it weird that with the "death in the bathroom" scene, Death cracks the toilet, slowly inches along as a small leak of water in order to make the character slip therefore initiating the death and then for some reason retraces its path back to the toilet and fixes the crack in the porcelain, as if the police would be vary suspicious that a leak caused someone's "accidental" death. Are the police in the FD universe really superstitious and think that the concept of Death being sentient is a viable theory? Even if they did what are they going to do about it? It just Bugs me.

Ears most defnitely? (is that how its spelled?) have bones in them. Yes the outer part is cartillage, but the most important part, the one with wich you hear contains the hammer, the amboss and the steigbügel. Arguably even the skull is part of the funktion of the ear and is also a bone, though that is hairsplitting. ;-)

My wife was a security guard at a Sears. There was regular thief that would steal vacuums and get away on a bicycle. When he tried this on her shift she recognized him when he came in and quietly went outside and moved his bike. When he snatched a vacuum and ran to his bike it wasnt there. He panicked and ran to the bus stop. The police arrested him there.

Here in Australia two blokes (A&B) on their way home from the pub went to stop past the servo for a sausage roll on the way home. On approach they saw a car idling out the front and another two blokes (C&D) robbing the servo. A and B ran up to the car wearing thongs (flip flops for you yanks) took the keys out, threw them away into the bushes, called the cops and stood back. C and D ran out, went to get in the car, clued on and had to run off. B filmed the whole thing on his phone, footage in online and is hilarious. Well worth a watch.

What's crazy is TopTenz has a video on Star Wars but Simon knows nothing about Star Wars. He literally presented a video of facts about it but retained none of it. I mean if I had 99 channels and read what he had to every day I'd remember none of it either.

You also hear using little bones. Maybe that's what inspired this line from Terry Pratchett. If Death is just a skeleton, you'd probably be able to see them vibrate slightly in Death's ear holes.
