Sorry to hear about your experience. If trial is not until December, there still may be an opportunity to salvage the relationship with the lawyer. You’ve already invested money into the defense. Schedule a meeting with the lawyer to address your concerns. If you are able to get things on track, great! If not, then it’s not too late to go in another direction with your lawyer. I hope things work out.

The timing depends. A lot of times we will get the initial offer from the DA, and provide the letters and other positive evidence as part of a mitigation packet and make a counter offer. There’s no designated time it needs to happen.

@@JamahlKersey thank you for your reply. My son has a court date on 23rd to meet with DA, his atty and Judge and go over offer . His atty said he will advise when he needs them. Just want to be proactive

Typically you would not go into custody until the day of sentencing. In some situations, there may be a report date after the sentencing hearing. So you would not necessarily go into jail the day you plead guilty.
