I remember the day 10 th of October 2023 when we were driving along through this young blokes village and myself stopping in the middle of the road and honestly we at first had no idea it was a crippled little bloke crawling towards us . He came straight at us and disappeared from view and my wife Carolyn and my mates wife Christine spotted him beside our car looking up at them. Honestly he is incredibly quick and mobile trust us on that. I had the car in Park and the hand brake on and was not going on anywhere but that road as well has so many Chinese semi Trailers travelling along it and we were bloody worried for young bloke. Honestly where this young bloke lives is such a crazy place and so beautiful as well. Great to see he is going still mate.

Hey tod my 2cents worth is a good set of knee pads or a few sets and sturdy shoes that will last. And a radio flyer wagon so adults can take him about to see his friends. A swing would be a plus all kids like a swing.

An idea is to put in a sidewalk that connects the boy's house to main village where he can play with his friends. The cost may be high for one person alone, but if several of us pitched in, the cost may not be too bad. I looked online for a non-powered wheelchair from Thailand is about 4600 baht. I am not sure what the cost of a power wheelchair would be. Another idea is put in speed bumps on the road. I noticed cars zipping through while lots of kids are walking on the same road. Separate quotes for a sidewalk, speed bumps, fence, and paved patio would be really helpful. Regardless of what projects you all decide, please keep us posted. I am willing to pitch in.

Nice you were able to find the disabled boy. A fenced in yard would work. But the restriction may cause more problems. Loneliness and his body functions won't help. Play ground fine if the other children don't take it over. It's a dilemma that hurts the heart. I had brother have muscular dystrophy. He had many friends that helped him and kept him busy. We can only help the boy through the Village chief and the neighbors. Think of it as business expenses. Only the neighbors can carry out the plan to help him. - Support from village official. - A sponsor family or group of neighbors. - Fence off an area. - Entice other children to come and play with him. You see? It takes a tribe to help. A blessing from the Shaman can encourage the villagers greatly. It’s hard, very hard but not impossible. Remember the cost of business. The fence, to keep him safe, is a good idea in my opinion. I'm not sure he could or would use any type of .wheelchair. Some sort of playground sounds good. It may also encourage other children to come over and interact with him. Thanks Todd and Neenee. Cheers Mina always nice to see you.

My suggestions would be to first fix the fence and then maybe a basketball ring and maybe a football goal. He needs to communicate up to his ability so some sign language for everyone from school to parents and relatives. Find something he likes and use that to develop language/communication, just being able to say yes and no is very useful. Sometimes he needs an activity just to relax so an iPad might be fun or something like that. Good luck in your good work.

It was lovely to see our little "Road Warrior" boy again.The look on his face ,when you handed him the cookie was magical.Your correct on two points,in the beginning of this mission.The fence,and landscaping the biggest area of that front yard.Due to heavy rains there,you'll need a descent road base ( ??),to keep the yard from turning to a mud heap . Hi Todd,,fence is perfect,,and maybe extend the roof to the fence,,I dont think I'd make a concrete pad,,but if the roof gets extended in a couple directions,,it would keep the mud down,,and give him a bit of extended play area.. the old guy is 1 yr older than Dad,,but slot better physical shape. Hi all, hope you're all good. Not sure if you can get something like you want for the back of the troppie, some sort of sponge floor tiles in an area of the land. I'd also thought about some sort of playground. When I used to work in kids schools they had a special type of flooring outside in case the kids fell over. Also small slides with a way to climb up other than stairs are popular with kids with a tunnel underneath to crawl through. Just a thought 😊

I don’t know how it would hold up outside and in wet season weather, but I was thinking something like a toddler jumper swing. It would keep him contained and occupied, allow a bit of a thrill without posing much risk I don’t think, and be a good opportunity to strengthen his legs and spend time in a different position. If it was on some kind of a zip line across the yard too that would give him some mobility in the yard without worrying about him going off the side of the mountain.

Great coverage of a difficult situation. Would it be worth having a specialist doctor look at the boy?

Have they got power? A small solar panel, battery & a few lights would be a big boost for not a lot of dollars. A garden bed with some good rich soil, some vege seed and a few sacks of rice until it grows. Set it up and get it going with them. See if the kid can get into gardening. Is there a physio around the area that could teach them some exercises, maybe sort out something to get around. A low off road skate board thing he can easily get on and off. Maybe its like bad tasting medicine, you wont get sick again or shut up about it. So you don't have to listen to him in your house for another 3 hours. 🤣

Make sure the fence has a very good gate with a latch up high so he can't reach it. Ask your viewers for contacts that can advise on physical therapy. I'm sure that there are RU-vid videos that will help. It looks to me like he may need some stretching to maintain some function in his hands. Putting down a proper floor in the house might help. Any paving outside the house would need to be able to standup to the rain. It would be good if you were in contact with whoever is going to do the fence to make sure that it will be a proper job.

If he still has feeling in both his legs then contact professionals online in America, Australia, Canada etc to ask if they could make a customised prosthetic using moulds on his legs that you would have to make etc etc

One of your best Todd I have a mate I worked with in the Pilbara years who married a Lao girl. Time I had a catch with him.

I straight up believed it a toilet, seen exactly the same thing in the Pacific Islands in the 90s except they had a toilet paper roll on the stick and it was a horizontal tree branch. Maybe they have two or the other is the neighbors. A sqiz over the side will give the answer. Operation on the feet would be too expensive from their point of view and would need supervision from yourself as they require continual surgeries etc. It will require you to accommodate him and grandma? in the city with support during hospital visits
