With the second episode of Crisis On Infinite Earths now out for release it’s time to dive into the latest entry and break down everything that you need to know about the DC Crossover.
This episode focuses on the Aftermath of yesterdays huge death and also throws some amazing cameos our way that come with a couple of curveballs.
Obviously there will be heavy spoilers here so if you haven’t had a chance to watch the episode yet and don’t want to know what happens then I highly recommend that you turn off now.
With that out the way, I just wanna give a huge thank you for clicking this, now let’s get into our breakdown of Crisis On Infinite Earths Episode 2.
Crisis On Infinite Earths Episode 2 Breakdown
The opener of The Batwoman episode centres around the titular character, Sara Lance and Supergirl mourning the loss of Arrow. This isn’t a time for standstill though and we all know deep down every actor is eyeing up what the CW shows will be called. The Flasherverse….? Yeah maybe not.
We then jump to Earth 74 where the Harbinger walks onto the Waverider which is hilariously voiced by Leonard Snart. Here she comes face to face with Rory who has been living on the abandoned ship since the retirement of the other heroes of that reality.
Kevin Conroy
Kate provides some comfort for Kara, letting her know that the future of the multiverse is more important and together she and Supergirl travel to Earth 99 to bring The Batman Paragon in who is revealed to be played by none other than Kevin Conroy. This was pretty much the one cameo out of the entire series that I was looking forward to the most and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Anything Kevin Conroy does just feels like The Dark Knight as he was always meant to be and even as a twisted, darker and perhaps evil Batman, he relishes the role that he was born to play.
I genuinely got goosebumps hearing his voice echo throughout the halls of Wayne Manor and the actor just oozes presence, pretty much stealing the scene every time he’s on-screen.
All Welling Good
Now I was excited about this cameo and it was still a fun little callback but yeah, I think Wellings return got overshadowed quite a bit by Conroy who we discover caused a reign of Terror on his Earth after he finally snapped and decided to start killing his rogue’s gallery.
I guess the Joker finally got him to snap and he may have been the one involved in Kate’s death as Batman states he’s become a monster. We see a bloodied Joker card, Wilted plant, cracked Glasses from Superman who it seems crippled him and a snowglobe minus the figure from Mr. Freeze. Batman has been a Badman but Kate has an opportunity for him to write his wrongs and save the universe.
Superman Returns
Lois, Clark and Iris go to Earth 96 and run into Clark Kent of The Superman Returns timeline. On this Earth, Clark has been promoted to Editor In Chief of The Daily Planet and it’s revealed that he is the one who has faced a great deal of loss in wake of an attack by the Joker who gassed the Newspaper offices during an attack.

Episode was absolutely EPIC I'm actually not mad with what they did with smallville, I mean if you've read the graphic novel series, you know what's up lol XD seeing Christopher Reeves/Brandon Routh' superman again after all this time was insane and when they played that music ooooooooooooooo fuq did I lose my mind !!! I love how they have made all these old classic movies and tv shows actually canon in the arrowverse, like it just makes me wanna cry with joy XD

To be fair, Smallville was more about Clark than Superman so the Tom Welling crossover was a nice nod. Killing Oliver and then bringing him back to life seems very anticlimactic. And I am so here for more fanservice.

They are (eventually), it's just that Batwoman is on E4 rather than Sky 1. Batwoman's only just started showing so that episode in the crossover probably won't be on until 6 weeks or so.

They had to try to revive Oliver, otherwise, fans would call it a glaring plothole since they've found ways to resurrect so many other characters. But part of the twist is that it doesn't work. My guess is Oliver's soul is stuck in purgatory, i.e. Lian Yu. In hour 4, Arrow, they go to the island and Oliver becomes Spectre fulfilling the S8 voiceover "In order to save the multiverse, I must become someone else... I must become some *thing else." As Spectre, Oliver becomes the 7th paragon (Paragon of Life?), replacing the Monitor as the multiverse's protector. By the end of the Crisis, he has to leave, basically the equivalent of a "Force ghost" and tells Mia, "I will always be with you" but it somewhat leaves it open if he ever decides to make a cameo as a wise adviser/mentor in future arrowverse episodes.

I really would have liked for CW to make him be a bit more of a character instead of a set piece, it's also strange because for me, I feel Clark would be a bit more concerned about all the Universes ending especially if he has Kids??? I hope they aren't done with him yet. Now I feel a bit more understanding to Michael Rosenbaum not being a part of this, there was no thought put into it.

angelicsailor Smallville was always about Clark, not Superman. He never wanted to be a hero and was very reluctant to take on that mantle. Giving up his powers fit solidly in with the character. If they had required Tom Welling to be in the suit I’m confident he would have passed. I’ve read interviews where he quite clearly said he never played Superman. He played Clark Kent. That was the only reason he originally took the role on Smallville.

Just like ANY genre of film that was originally adapted from any form of literature. You can only fit so many pieces that are relevant. There are pros and cons when the meaning of “relevant” is at the mercy of a specific team of producers. Not only are they trying to tell a story, but they’re basically producing a huge mega trailer for future franchises. Killing off characters and introducing new ones, trying to win the views of current and future fans. I’m lukewarm about it, it’s okay with me and pretty much meets my expectations. And they weren’t the highest expectations.

I really didn't like how they instantly resurrected Oliver. And also, I hate what they did with Kevin Conroy as Batman in his first, and probably only live action portrayal of the role, they made him into an evil hopeless guy... Very horrible. And also, Tom Welling not having his powers anymore... All of it, very very bad. CW is just pure cringe at this point. The Batwoman actress can't act at all, Kevin Conroy showed them what acting really is. She just stands there trying to look scary or whatnot... I did like seeing Brandon Routh as Kingdom come Superman. He is much better as Superman than the Atom. But maybe the Atom is just written as a dumb character.
