Crispy pork lard is the key ingredient to many Chinese dishes in Malaysia and Singapore such as KL Hokkien Mee and Bak Chor Mee. The calories of the pork fat are worth the flavour. Here are the tips to get crispy golden pork lard and clear pork lard/oil.
www.nyonyacook...
Rendering pork fat can provide you with two wonderful ingredients, crispy pork lard and butter-like texture pork lard. In most Chinese dishes, pork lard is the choice of oil as it provides delicious flavours. To make a dish taste better, crispy pork lard is sprinkled on top. It does not only serve the purpose for garnishing but the surprising bite of crispiness makes the dish even more flavourful.
Before you get too worried about the calories and your health, do note that pork lard is not something to be consumed on a daily basis. That being said, it is actually the secret ingredient to many traditional dishes. That's why meals from your grandma always tasted better. It's because pork lard! The process to make crispy pork lard is rather simple but you'll need to also ensure it provides a fragrant, clean and clear pork lard. Let's go through with the basics and tips.

Oyster sauce is bought in bottles at the supermarket.. no one actually makes it.
@nyonyacooking
@nyonyacooking 5 лет назад
Hi there, Thanks for the support! As mentioned by @Baby J, oyster sauce is usually bought in supermarkets. Making it at home requires lots of oysters and time. The process of boiling oysters until it reaches a thick consistency is not something many would attempt at home. However, you can try mushroom sauce as substitute or look out for Asian speciality stores.

Hi Fadilah, our recipes cover all dishes eaten in Malaysia and Singapore. We have always been sensitive towards our beloved Muslim readers/viewers. Hence, providing substitutes whenever possible and assistance whenever people reach out regarding non-halal ingredients in a dish. While this is a non-halal recipe, we wanted to showcase an ingredient which is crucial in KL Hokkien Noodles which is made popular by the Hokkien community. Our goal is to encourage home cooking and we pledge to stick to the authentic recipe while providing the necessary information for specific dietary requirements (e.g. halal, vegetarian, gluten-free, child-friendly, etc).
