@freestyleandsoccer Ronaldo hits just bellow the centre of the ball thats what gets you the height and his follow through is high but short which causes the dip... good luck and keep practicing, it will take you a long time to perfect just like me and everyone else who has tried this for the first time, never give up and you'll soon get it.
@Nani17CR7 ok, i just dont know how to change my footing to make it happen, what i am doing now is like using side of foot but turn it forward and down to hit with instep. is that right?
@imaginitiveusername Beginners can actually use inbetween the centre of their laces and the side of their foot, but doing it this way lacks consistency of knuckle and dip and you get alot more power from the top of your laces, to hit it with the top of your laces, think of it like hitting your ankle, but slightly further forward and if you notice from both my freeze frames in my tutorial, ronaldo looks like he's shooting from in between sock and foot. It takes ALOT of practice.
@Nani17CR7 What are you sayin? Juninho dips and knuckles aswell. You clearly havent seen all of his freekicks. And VERY often a knuckle turns into a topspin dipping shot. A Knuckle is when the ball almost has no spin at all. Which makes it very sensitive for air drags, so the keeper has no idea where it will go. If it has topspin, it's not really a knuckleball, then its a dipping shot.
@imaginitiveusername ok 1.4-5 steps back 1 to the left(right footed vise versa) 2.Take a few seconds to think about the technique 3. run on toes look at the ball 4.Hit the ball just bellow the centre (the fastest way to learn is to top a target 1 inch bellow the valve and direct the valve parallel to the ground, contact with your foot has to be the top of the laces 5.When you follow through, follow through across the body and bend your body forward and your knee like ronaldo does for it to work.
@spagnolDes No offense taken, since your wrong anyway, juninho purely knuckles the ball with his laces, ronaldo hits it with the side of his laces with a totally different posture and brings his knee back for the follor throw, resultig in dip. he can both knuckle the ball OR dip it something juninho cannot do :p
@crazygamer241 its not really about the strength of your legs its more about the motion. you want to kick in a controlled fast motion (but not to fast) as weird as it sounds watch a golf swing video which will tell you to keep a constant speed while swinging so just do the same with your leg. dont get faster as your foot gets closer to the ball. obviously if your 5 you won't be able to kick that hard yet.
hey nice tutorial man but i am having trouble to dip the ball i can knuckle the ball but i can'y dip the ball.i see ronaldo's short follow though he bends his leg to stop early to drop the ball and for knuckle,but i can't bend my leg like that.when i knuckle, it doesn't drop it just knuckles until it reaches goal it doesn't dip. any tip to make the ball drop after knuckle ??plz help a little reply i will be very happy!! @spagnolDes Juninho does a more sporadic knuckleball and it tends to be more of a glider rather than a dip. Ronaldo's is more of a knuckle dip and stays true to flight.
i wanna be a pro soccer player when i grow up and was wondering is it necassary as a striker to learn this shot to perfection or do people just do this for free kicks.
Yes it is very unnatural but highly effective when done correctly. The "natural" kick for most people is pretty weak. Note that CR7 no longer does it exactly this way and that has resulted in less goals. There is actually not a lot of pressure on the knee but lots on the ankle/Achilles/calf/hamstring.
@freestyleandsoccer Thanks, i promise i will once i have the time to go to an astro turf and get some kinda holder for my camera, i'll do it, but to be perfectly honest, i can only do it with addidas footballs, Nikey's are crap for knuckling.
Yea it was easy to me beacause i watch a idk 20 videos and then i went to soccer field what is near to my house and just practiced and than suddenly i did it knuckle but i like more topspin but i can shoot both of them so guys just keep practicing and u will make it there soon :D
@dragonfistking17 Yeah but doing this with a short follow through creates knuckle AND dip, i think what you mean is to make the ball dip more you shorten your follow through.
Nice music.. nice video.. but yeahh CR7 does it in the style that he has been comfy with since young and has honit to perfection.. the media is just stylizing and hyping it up ... just like when Becks started doin it his own iconic way.. you guys should find ur own style and practise till its perfect... thats the way to be a true footballer.. be true to urself and believe
@imaginitiveusername Yeah you can do that, but when i use to do it that way it hardly ever knuckled just look at how ronaldo positions his foot in this video and grab a ball and a boot and try to imitate it, once you get the hang of it then try the technique lightly then when you get use to it put more power into the shots.

@football17freestylen It curls, doesn't knuckle, you hit it with the top of your laces so you get a sweet shot and do everything else which is explained in the video and it will knuckle, but it takes so much practice, knowone can get this straight away, it took me 3 months!
i have a question about shooting. lateley have noticed i am making just about the proper connection and having the right technique but the ball just doesn't have the velocity i see pros with. is this because i just have to wait until my leg gets stronger or is there more to it than just laceces and locking ankle.
@dragonfistking17 When the ball has no spin it knuckles and then dips, just look at the video the ball knuckles, fucks cassilas up, then dips which fucks him over even more...
