The New York City Classical Guitar Society presented Cristina's NYC debut in November, 2023. I wasn't familiar with her to that point (other than being passingly familiar with her competition wins in Europe), but I got to know her a bit as I drove her from the airport to her residence. From the moment I heard her warming up for the concert, I was absolutely stunned. Someone below mentioned "delicacy," which she has in abundance. But the POWER, the dynamic control, the PASSION! Extraordinary, to say the least. Cristina is an enormously talented, personable and professional artist. One of the absolute best of a generation of incredibly talented guitarists. I look forward to following her career in the coming years! If you have an opportunity to see her in concert, you should move heaven and earth to be present!
Very clean playing! It's very difficult to convince students to play clean basslines with minimal to no noise. Too many guitarists sound like they would scrape off the metal around their strings Haha
Great Job. Thanks a lot David for sharing a so beautiful artist, whose playing is very thin and delicate. Delicious result. I love too the sound of the guitar. Referring to previous comment, you are right about opinion. And mainly you are a kind guy. Happy new year and take care.
Thanks Jose. Cross string trills are played in a variety of ways, try aimp (1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd ) for starters. Start slow and gradually increase the speed. (From David Jaggs)
Baroque music was written that way and the luth was played that way, apoyando was not something luth players used like in classical guitar were it gives more texture to the sound and a clearer deffinition of the melody. She plays beautifuly.
@@bsharporbflat8378 First of all this work was written for harpsichord. Baroque music was written to be played without feeling? Where did you get that info? I spare you the details which would take hours to explain but that's just false...
@@userAA well, you mentioned she played without feelings not me. The harpsichord is actually a very good example of what I meant because it is very limited in expressiveness , having no pedals (expression) and no percussive qualities like the piano forté. Since many composers used the harpsichord for writting and the fact that dynamic notation was not in use yet feeling as you refer to was expressed with technical « tricks » like trills, modulations , counterpoint or subtle speed variations. That beeing said I think this piece is rendered in a very melanchollic maner and for me that is feeling(very present in the baroque era)But as they say...feeling is in the ear of the beholder.
@@bsharporbflat8378 There are many contradictions in your reply. However, strings family instruments were always capable of playing dynamics (soft & loud) in contrary to say harpsichord.
