Since getting the criterion channel I have became a huge Mike Leigh fan. Naked is one of my favorites. The witty dialog is superb. I need to grab Inland Empire.

ooh thanks! Pity it's over, jeepers that's expensive at full price!! Mystery Train is great - saw it at cinema Love Barry Lyndon also and Badlands. Saw Naked at cinema, also great. Don't know the rest, but looks interesting!

I haven't been let down by any of his films that I have watched in the collection. John Lurie from the lounge lizards is in a few, and he and Tom Waits are both in down by law. Definitely discovered some of my new favorite directors via criterion

I thought that Inland Empire looked the way David Lynch wanted it to look, I could be wrong. But I don't imagine David Lynch would release anything that he did not like the look of that far into his career. I think it look the way it did because that's the way he wanted it to look, it is ominous and uncomfortable to watch it's like watching some really weird scary stuff being filmed by someone with a video camera I mean it has the POV look of amateur video. Bizarre Beyond Reckoning for certain. I watched it twice and gave it away because I frankly thought it was more frightening than I wanted to watch again.

A very interesting and good point. It is certainly a frightening movie, I basically think all of Lynch’s films are horror films, in the same way I think all of Kubrick’s films are comedies.
