My favourite Chaplin is Monsieur Verdoux...wonderfully dark comedy. And Rope is my fave Hitchcock! One of the R-R-Rs as it will now be known! 😅 What a shout for The In-Laws! "SERPENTINE, SHELLEY!". You know what that feeling is on the end of your tongue, Nate? GOOD TASTE! Anyway, top recommendations. I'd add Lost In America from Albert Brooks, Shampoo with Warren Beatty, Polyester from John Waters, Eraserhead from David Lynch, Safety Last from Harold Lloyd, His Girl Friday with Cary Grant, Royal Tenenbaums from Wes Anderson, F For Fake from Orson Welles, The Innocents from Jack Clayton, Howard Hawk's Only Angels Have Wings, A Matter Of Life And Death from Powell And Pressberger, Destry Rides Again with Jimmy Stewart aaaaaaand Dressed To Kill and Mona Lisa simply because Nate loved my Michael Caine impression at the weekend! ☺

I have tried three times to get all of the praise with Come and See. For some reason it hasn’t hit for me. Maybe a fourth try won’t hurt.

The Innocents is a great horror film, I own the BFI version which is quite rare to get a hold of. Some other great recommendations too, I really want to check out Ikuru and Beau Travail soon!

I ended up grabbing Woman in the Dunes and Memories of Murder. Very excited to add them to my collection!

"They Live" That is one of those movies that was enjoyable in its own right, but I think it is due a high budget remake! I realize this is off topic, but you cannot NOT see that fantastic shirt you are wearing. I am a movie idiot so all of those films are new to me. I am only as deep as a thimble when it comes to the depth of my movie watching, but I still enjoy your brief commentaries of the films you show us. Keep up the good work.

Happy Criterion Flash Sale day! I limited myself to two today - My Winnipeg and Daisies. Both recent watches I really enjoyed and wanted to add to my collection. Funnily enough, the other film I really wanted was Beau Travail. But that'll have to wait. I could not agree with you more about Portrait of a Lady on Fire. It's an absolute masterpiece. The In-Laws is one of my dad's favorite movies. I got him the Criterion for his birthday last year and we watched it together. Can't beat Peter Falk and Alan Arkin.

Glad I saw Come and See, but have no interest in seeing it again.
