Once again, just a reminder we recorded this early last week! So some stuff aged like milk lol. We're back on schedule so we should have no more late episodes going forward! (for now...) - Jacob
The Critical Role twitch chat used to be great back in campaign 1, but they’re too big for the chat to really be viable anymore. Besides people being nasty in chat, it just moves too fast to interact with others. Posting in the chat feels like shouting into an infinite faceless crowd.
People seem to forget that Orym and Fearne were created originally to be Liam's and Ashley's characters in campaign 3, respectively. I was actually pretty stoked to see all three of them again. Technically they are still new characters in perspective to the first 2 campaigns where they were fleshed out over hundreds of episodes. The cast is obviously stoked to be playing these characters, and you can tell they are all having a blast playing off of each other.
As a DM who has run now several Tal'Dorei and Wildmount campaigns, I can say they are an absolute blast as long as you are willing to go deep into the setting. Can't wait to see your take on Exandria!
Laudna is easily my favorite Marisha character as of right now. She might end up my favorite for this campaign, but we'll see how it all develops cause everyone else is so good.
I'm pretty sure they advertise the chat as part of their deal with Twitch to allow them to simulcast on RU-vid, which is something very unique to Critical Role.
for some reason this is the first podcast video i watch from you guys... the amount of time you spend talking about everything BUT the title is extraordinary xD
On the subject of Icewind Dale and everyone playing the same race, I'm playing in an Icewind Dale game and the whole party is a clan of Goliath Vikings. It's the fucking BEST
I mean EXU was only 8 episodes so we didn't really explore those characters much. Liam I believe has always said he wanted to play an halfling and EXU was a way of testing it out before fulling comminting to it.
I think the cast has said that they used EXU as a way to test their C3 character concepts. So it's not like they recycled characters for C3, it's that they gave everyone a preview whilst Abria had a go at DMing.
Did Abrea make the EXU xharacters and give them to her players? For some reason i highly doubt this, but I could be wrong. If I'm right then I don't see how playing their characters in a different campaign could take away from Abrea
I think it doesn't really matter if they are playing as new characters, as long they develop in ways the audience can love. They didn't develop a huge deal in EXU, so in some ways I still see them as new, same as Travis's character.
