@@O9bz3 oh i was referring to the fact that he has access to wish, which means he cast any 8th level spell from any class list, alternatively he can start turning into dragons of rather high strength. as he starts going higher he starts getting access to some beefy fiends (red abishai, balor, pit fiends. at level 20 he could turn into two varient of ancient dragons. point being that planetars (and angels in general) are all rather fragile. they have higher than average AC but A LOT lower than tehy should HP. (as in they have less HP than similar creatures of the same CR. the tradeoff is they do more damage per strike. they're quintessential glass cannons.

@@SPACEHARICE he wouldnt need to. Thats what theyre talking about in that clip, regarding his time limit. He turned into a planetar via true polymorph. If hed concentrated on it for an hour the effect would become 'permanent until dispelled' Now, thats not neccisarily the same as wishing to become a permanent planetar. So, to circle back to the core of your question, its not something i can answer. What you *can* do with wish is entirely based on the dm, so itd be up to how matt runs wish. I'd let someone use wish as a form of instant, permanent polymorph. But theyd thennsuffer the downside of thebwish after the transformation. They would also, most likely, lose essentially all of their former class features based on what theu turned into. But thays just me

I usually have it on in the background while I do other stuff, so it's not like I'm just only doing that. I just really like CR and get impatient for thursday I guess lol. probably gonna rerun through all of what's out for C2 soon too.

It's a spell called True Polymorph

True Polymorph: you can turn yourself or any other creature or object into a different creature with an equal or lower challenge rating, or (if you're doing it to a player or npc) a challenge rating equal to or lower than its level. A planetar has a challenge rating of 16, so Scanlan, at the time level 17, can become one easily.

You can only turn into a creature with a CR equal to or less than your character level. Solars are CR 21. You will never be able to turn into one as level 20 is the cap. You'd need any combination of homebrew nonsense to make that possible.
