For the show I want this to happen. After attuning to the dwarven thrower, he grows a beard and excitedly tell everyone in the group. We cut to Vax growing a mischievous look before exclaiming to Grog that “this is cause for celebration and for being there for each other, I’ll buy the drinks”. Drinking montage ensues as it finally comes to full night and... someone sneaking around. It’s Vax with a Cheshire grin, lathering cream, and his knife. We hear him chuckle as it fades out. Cut to morning (stereotypical cartoon crack of dawn music) we see the back of Grog (or at least mostly hidden) he yawns, stretches, and puts his hand to his face before the music cuts abruptly and he starts to tremble. Then it cuts to someone else, (either an NPC or a member of VM who isn’t Vax) and with a shaking frame the earth shattering roar of “VAAAAAAAX!!”
I HATE when Laura goes into wife mode. Good thing she's more professional now, she doesn't do that as much on set. Tbh, I like to think this is Vex going into judgy sister mode instead.
Ok we know Travis stuffed Liam into the couch after this event transpired. And also would just like to point out he broke the mechanical pencil mostly one handed.
Yes, this went past character, and into RL as Travis and Liam later revealed. Travis was both in character, and not in character, when he broke that mechanical pencil. Liam didn't realize at the time, how attached Travis was to that fictional beard. SPOILERS: . . . . This is the same as Taliesin's unhappiness with Sam, when Scanlan threw Percy's gun into the acid. He was never able to replace that weapon with another magical gun, making him useless against Vecna.
@@Hawkwinter01 What are you talking about? he had the animus pistol, That was magical, I think it was a +1 and did extra psychic damage and on a miss-fire the user took psychic damage, it wasn't as good as the list but he did have a magic gun . . . . also, Scanlan saved Percy's soul from a demon (and himself) when he destroyed the list, Scanlan had a very good reason to destroy the gun . . . Vax just wanted revenge for some bullshit from months back, he wasn't trying to help or save Grog, it is very much different to Scanlan and Percy
I know that Grog and Vex aren't in any sort of relationship, but it still comes off as a man and his brother-in-law butting heads, probably because Travis and Laura actually are married and what not. Good shit.

I disagree. I think low intelligence would actually make someone MORE inclined to blame the most immediate thing around them, which for Grog would be his constant feuding with Vax. Just imagine a dumb pair of brothers butting heads. They're both dumb as dirt but if one finds his room trashed one day, whats his first thought going to be?
Even making that association takes a bit of intelligence, but in that context between siblings I agree it makes sense because of how common it would be and the narrow amount of possible explanations. The thing is, the situation we've watched is nothing like that. First of all, the list of suspects is bigger if you want to accuse someone. He's sleeping at a tavern, and it's no surprise that lodgings at taverns aren't the most secure of places. Sure, out of all the strangers in there, Vax would have the most motive, I'll give it that. It's a bit of deduction that I don't think someone with 6 intelligence would so instantenously arrive at, but sure, I would be more acceptant of that... but there's more. Second, and I believe this is the most important point, he *doesn't fucking know how all of that works* . It's like Liam himself said afterwards. Grog wears a belt and the next day there's hair coming out of his face, how could he possibly explain that? I'm not denying there's a way to specify how the magic works there, but I *am* saying that Grog would have no idea what that is. His perspective is that for an unknown reason (or, at best, thanks to some mumbo jumbo from the belt, which I don't recall if he was aware of) he's been growing a beard, something no Golliath can do. Then it keeps going, hey that's great! Then some day he wakes up and half of it is gone. There's absolutely no clue here to incriminate Vax. It could be a disease, it could be another source of magic, it could be the belt malfunctioning, it could be almost literally anything. No reason why he'd instantly jump to Vax - I'd even be skeptical of a higher intelligence character doing that. Now *him* ? At the *very least* I would suggest maybe something like rolling dice to figure out which of these various explanations Grog jumps to first, at random. I suppose that would be in character. But that's not what happened, he simply picked the conclusion that was most convenient out of a sea of possibilities. Like I said, I still love them all. But I rest my case!
Except, inteligent thinking would be to search for all the possibilities. Him making assiciation simply on emotion and on what he knows is the most natural thing you could think of. Why would Grog consider magic as the first explanation? The most natural and effortless thinking process would be "part of my beard is missing" -> "someone did it" -> "i hate vax, it was vax". Thinking it was magic would require for him to dismiss a posibility and think about magic. It was done for comedy but it still seams like the most natural thing. He doesn't need to consider why his beard grows in such conclusion. More intelligent character could maybe take the otehr possibilities like magic or dissease into consideration and then dismiss them. Grog isn't big thinker. He knows what beards are, he knows they can be shaved, he finds his shaved, he goes with the most natural thing.
Perhaps we all are overthinking this. Grog could have assumed it was Vax. It's not like anyone else would have shaved his beard. Besides, this moment is absolutely worth the suspension of disbelief.
There is literally NOBODY else he would blame, I am pretty sure that if for example Scanlan shaved it, or because "magic is mysterious" and half of his beard dissappeared he would still immediately blame Vax Also 6 intelligence doesn't mean you don't ever learn a thing or can't ever figure things out, the party (well, besides Vax) always tries to get Grog to think more
Liam has his moments of being a bit of a "that guy" player, hates when it doesnt go his way. Love him 90% of the time but yeah that bugs me. Like his constant Keen Mind shit.
Oh that bugs you, huh? So all D&D players should adhere to your personal tastes, huh? Hate to break it to you, mate, but rogues are supposed to be tricksy characters. The fact that Grog only woke up with half his beard missing and not his throat slit is proof of that.
