I never thought of this set having a lot of pairs of cards with a similar effect until now, but you are absolutely right. White hat and masked sorc, Magician of Faith and Mask of Darkness, and event the fact that there were 3 counter traps all negating one specific thing. It's interesting, it's almost like konami wasn't planning to print any specific task but more print each variation of card of a certain type, and give each a random artwork lol
@@pandaman1331 Good thing for those two cards that it took some time for people to warm up to Solemn since half your LP seemed like a big deal at the time.
@@UrLeingod I'm still not sure how good it is in old formats. I used it a lot and it won me many games. I guess it was op from the start and people just didn't realize it.
I love this format it has even more depth then that, for example soul exchange let’s cannon soldier tribute an opponents monster, also last will is at 3
Princess of Tsurugi is also a key burn card in this format. Robbin Goblin is a great combo with Wall of Illusion since it can often let you hit at least 2 cards out of the opponent's hand - 1 when they attack & 1 when you attack back into their empty board with the Wall. Wall does have a potential drawback of letting your opponent get their flip effect monsters back in their hand for a second use though
Wanna play this confusing game with me? I'm doing a historical progression game with my friend, like in the history of yu-gi-oh. And I'm still looking for more people to play with.
@@rcoderprogramming7727 Sure. I changed my server into a cross-banlist server but I'm still doing the history of yu-gi-oh progression. I will try share my discord link if this channel allows it.
since u are using Format Library as a source for content... for those who are interested in further infos about this and any other popular Formats... also a great place to play ;)
I am pretty sure the song at the end is from the Yugioh Tag Force games, specifically the 5D's ones. Tho I don't know exactly if it's Tag Force 4, 5 or 6
Ok, here I go. This is gonna be a quite long rant so everyone who can't read paragraphs shoul stop right now (so your average yu-gi-oh player). I've been playing retro formats for a while now and I joined basically every retro format discord server. And regardless of what format and which server it is, I came to the conclusion that the community is still the same. For every casual player who thinks about joining classic format servers like goat or even critter format, I'm gonna tell you right now, casuals and newbies are not welcome there. The toxicity is real and they start flame wars over something as trivial as which simulator you should use. So then I went ahead and actually gave myself a push to play on DB even though I don't really like it. I understood how it works but not the fine mechanics in detail. I played on format library since they offer basically every fromat and everyone plays on DB. The first thing you will notice is that they only permit ranked duels. That should tell you from the start how excessively competitive this community is. So casuals and newbies not welcome. After getting the hang of DB in solo mode I went to challenge my first opponent in critter format (the one right after Yugi-Kaiba format up to Metal Raiders). I had to learn it myself in solo modod because nobody felt like teaching me directly. First everyone tells me use DB instead o EdoPro and when I finally decide to give it a try, noboy bothers to teach me the fine mechanics. Very supportive community. After getting the hang of it I found my first opponent to play with. The guy I played with didn't feel like giving me any time to adapt to the mechanics of DB. He would skip phases and not wait for me to respond despite knowing from the beginning that it was my first time playing on DB. Besides my sloppy start I went and won 2-1. I went back to the format library discord server to thank him for playing with me anyway despite him not really being considerate towards me being a beginner. I didn't even bother mentioning the outcome because I've experienced from other servers (Reaper and Tengu Plant) how utterly personal they take it when a newbie on the server wins against them. You will get the typical excuses of all the trie hards like he had a bad hand or I was just lucky to win because the format is of ocurse so skillfull and they have so much experience. He of course didn't respond to me in the chat at all. So my conlusion is, different times, different formats, same toxcity of unnecessairily competetive trie hards who take the game way too seriously. If you are a casual or newbie who just wants to have fun, forget joining any yu-gi-oh format, regardless of wether it's modern or retro yu-gi-oh. Everyone is equally toxic and they are not there to have fun, they are only there to prove their superiority. Especially format library, that's the most toxic yu-gi-oh community I've ever seen. The biggest lie ever told by retro format lovers is that they play it because they enjoy it. They play it because that's the format they are best in. Like everyone else (including casual players) they absolutely hate to lose. Especially if you are new to the server. The greatest lie they ever told themselves is that it's not about winning or losing but they are solely playing for fun. But that only holds true as long as they are winning.
