Such a thorough honest video. Definitely do your homework with any nursing program. My nursing program was on probation for their crappy pass/fail rate which transferred to us as students. There was literally no margin for error because they were trying to weed out those who they felt wouldn’t pass their boards. Thankfully I passed every class because you were kicked out of the program if you didn’t pass a class.

(Not CRNA related, but I can kinda relate…) You’re so right about family sacrifice. My daughter is getting her masters in genetic counseling and had been living with her fiancé for over a year but her program is three tiered and moved her three times so after living together for over a year she had to move over 8 hours away from him. Now she just moved again….12 hours away! He’s getting his bachelors in mechanical engineering and will graduate in December. They’re getting married December 18th and he will move up to where she is. She will graduate June 2022. My poor daughter is so stressed out too. She calls me crying at least once a week. It’ll all be worth it!!

That’s what made me addicted. My husband works full time, I’m actually 32 and knowing how to manage my time. Pretty much I spend 8-12 hours on the books. Hi omg I’m so glad I found your channel! I decided I want to go to CRNA school and I will be a senior in my nursing program this fall. I start a pca job in an icu in the Texas medical center this week, and my nursing gpa so far is a 3.8 and cumulative is a 3.5. I really want to start applying as soon as I can to CRNA schools because I know that’s what I want to do. I’m hoping that I can get a job in the icu that I am working at after I graduate. How did you decide which schools to look at and how did you go about choosing them based on the experience required? I know a lot of schools require 1year by the time of application but others require it by the start date. Also did you take organic chemistry for your schools? I am taking gen Chem 2 this summer because I know some schools require that but I don’t know if I should plan on taking orgo after I graduate or if I should just look at schools that don’t require it

Thanks for the info! I had a really good conversation with a cousin of mine who’s a CRNA and he suggested that I should apply to programs that don’t require the GRE, that way you have one less test to worry about. However, programs that don’t require GRE tend to place more emphasis on other areas of your application. He also suggested to pick at least 5 programs to apply to to increase your chances of being accepted to at least one of them.
@TheWildFam

That would be nice for sure but yeah could be a little harder to get in. All the programs I was interested in required it but If there is a good program near you that doesn’t go for it!

@@TheWildFam so while you clearly know more than I do as I am nowhere near being in that field yet and you are, meaning please don't take this as disrespectful and if you do...🤷🏼‍♀️. That being said, you say they want to know you are dedicated, hard-working as a result of a work ethic instilled long ago & annnnd mayyyybeee...will operate first and foremost with integrity. That said, isn't that what basically almost everybody says? I was watching those videos by Dr Ryan gray saying you don't want to be the typical average student with the same admission letter they read all day long. I'm just curious because I want to make sure I don't send in a cookie-cutter letter that they read from everybody else.

I worked inflicting things about this but I'm a retired prescription drug addict, I HATE saying in recovery because to me it sounds like you're not quite there, with 16 years clean and I've thought about explaining from there to now and how the cognitive change long-term rehab I went to totally changed my life. I don't just mean because I'm clean, I mean in the sense that I use cognitive psychology in daily life and raising my son trying to teach him how his choices can affect others & nothing anybody says, doesn't say, does or doesn't do determines how you feel as it's a choice because thoughts create feelings meaning they are a choice, etc.

I would love to ask you --- what are your thoughts on going to CRNA school as a mom? I am entering my last year of prerequisites for my BSN and I have been focused on CRNA for the past year, soaking in information and envisioning myself going down that path. I am already a nontraditional nursing student, as I am 33 and a mother of three. My oldest is currently 14, my middle child is 7 and my youngest is 5. I still have at minimum 5 years before I would be entering a CRNA program having said that in order to obtain the ICU experience I would need. My family is very supportive, my husband is incredible, and we are celebrating ten years of marriage this year. Having said all that, do you feel that it is possible for moms to be successful in CRNA school with children that are in their preteens/teens or just in general? Also thank you for your channel! I really enjoy your videos and you taking the time to share your knowledge.

Hi! I am in a very similar boat - little older and my kids a little older but still same deal! I fully intend on entering CRNA school and I think having support from your family and spouse is really key. Obviously I can’t answer as to how difficult it is to juggle but personally I figure I’ve made it this far juggling, I’m going to go for the gusto! Good luck to you!

@@kjv3192 that is exactly what I have been thinking! I just fear looking back on "missing out" on my children's lives and feeling like I chose CRNA over them --- it seems that the decision can be turned into that so I would love the perspective tackling that angle. I do believe and agree that sacrifices are hard, but so often worth it. I just fear missing the time with my children and regretting it or if the lifestyle after graduating really just makes it worth it. Thank you for replying to me as well and best of luck to you!

@@jaymel5522 I have the same fears. I just finished my ADN and remember having those same fears starting nursing school in general but it all worked out and i was able to balance everything well. My kids are 17, 13, & 9 now and I won’t be starting (if i get in and at the earliest) until my 2nd child is just out of HS so maybe think of how much more grown they will be by the time you enter the program. 🤷🏼‍♀️ lots to think about and luckily there is time to iron that all out

@@jaymel5522 Absolutely! I went back to CRNA school with a 1 and 2 year old at home. I had a 90 minute drive to school and back. Do your homework and network with other mothers in the program now. Network with their husbands too. You will need a very supportive family and husband. This is doable but you ALL have to be ALL in for this. It flies by so fast. It will be hard at times. Stay on track, work you A$$ off and get it done. Don’t EVER miss a day of school or clinical. Show up earlier than expected. You will be glad you went back. I had 2 young children, graduated top of my class, received clinical excellence, leadership, and summa cum laude. It can be done. It is hard, but so worth it!

I am in my 2nd year of CRNA school right now, and have 4 kids, I have 10, 8, 6, and 2. Our financial situation wasn’t great so I have been working throughout school as well which has been really hard. But my wife has been doing her pre-reqs for nursing school while I have been in CRNA school and she is gonna start this journey once I am done. We are 32, so similar age. This is definitely something you can do with some hard work, and it will make it so much easier with your supportive husband and hopefully are financially stable, because school loans are not enough. As far as your kids, ya, some things you are going to miss out on for sure, but it is only going to be a few years and you will not only provide a much better life for them financially, but you will also be such a great example of hard work and success to your kids. It will let them know that they can always pursue their dreams even if it’s later in life. These are conversations I have had with my wife on multiple occasions. You can do it

Hi. Thank you for this video. I'm 38. I'm trying to get into the program because it's been my dream carrier. But I will need to work. I did it before with Nursing School, and I did very and graduated Summa Cum Laude. My only worry is not being able to work. I will need to.

I'm considering this but also worried about when to have kids. I'm 32...and at least 1 year out from applying. Do we have a baby now? Or do I wait to be in my late 30s? That's my ONLY hang up.

It’s doable either way!! You need to evaluate what is best for you. The nice thing is baby will be young enough to not be super affected by you being gone a lot !

Honestly it could be a problem. You might be able to find a program that will accept you but they may make you jump through more hoops. I would start calling programs and asking them directly!

Lmao...This is her side hustle! Unless you are a hot ass chick... good luck landing an OR job or ICU Job right out of RN school-debt... not reality. Hence the word job, because It’s a job not a career. Honestly the crazy standards of 4.0, and not working, and a 200k for CRNA school. Lol good luck, see the comments they all say “good luck” lol. not to be a Debby downer but 99% of these people are grifters!
