Question for you! In the video it states 46 for the starting chain but the written pattern reads 48. Which one should I go by? Thanks!

The written pattern uses a foundation chain of ch48 instead of 46 (as in the video), which results in 7 stitches instead of 5 stitches for the top (crown) section. This pattern is so lovely that I want to make sure everyone can do it without getting frustrated. I had a little bit of trouble understanding it in the beginning (my fault), but Sirin's designs are just a cut above many others I have seen. Thank you, Sirin. Love it that you are so gentle with your kitties!

That days adult woman if you go look at the pattern again. Maybe the 46 is for a smaller head.

Thank you for this pattern, it looks pretty simple. Years ago when I was taught how to crochet, the lady who showed me only crocheted in back loop only. That's the way she taught me, so this will be a breeze for me since it's all back loop only. I hear your fur-babies in the background. Your cats are so pretty, you can tell they are well loved. I'm currently working on this beanie and it's coming out so nicely! However I made a change to the brim. I did slip stitches for the brim instead of the single crochet brim. It gives it a more knit like appearance. I absolutely love this pattern 😍

I just finished this hat and I LOVE it!! It worked up quicker than expected and turned out great. The join is nearly invisible! And I love your kitty helpers, by the way! :)

I absolutely love the texture and closeness of the finished pattern of crochet stitches. Freestyle crocheting has come a long way. The applications of your combination is endless, I see sleeves, legwarmers, etc, etc., with the changing of the borders. It will take hard work just like your pattern, but the end result is a textured warm beautiful garment. Thank you for sharing this with us. You are a great instructor. DNA, that's what this pattern reminds me of. The old slides that first showed what our bodies were made of. Now we are looking at spirals complements of newer technology.🥰🥰

Just have to follow pattern. 2 rows begin with slip stitch.... 2 rows begin with HDC. Easy.

Love this! I’m fairly new to crochet, only having made a few hats so far. I haven’t seen one made like this before, but I love this method and think I will prefer this over always working in the round. This stitch creates such a beautiful looking pattern, yet quite simple. Love the close up camera view too, helps so much. Thank you ♥️👍🏼

Hi there. I have tried to make this beanie because I love the pattern, but have been unsuccessful. Can you help please? I’m doing something wrong after the 5th row. As I understand the instructions, when you are on the right side, ( the one with the marker ) you crochet slip stitches where in the row below there were hdc and where there were hdc, you do slst. When you are on the wrong side, you copy the row below and do not do the opposite stitch. You then continue, always doing the opposite stitch when on the right side, and always doing the same stitch on the wrong side. When I do this, the pattern is not replicated. What am I doing wrong?
