So I majorly struggled with the count and had to restart about 12 times. So I wrote it all out and it really helped me. I used stitch markers on the middle of the peak and the middle of where I skipped 2 to make sure I kept count. If this helps you: Cast on: 216 baseline + 5 (this was 27x8 +5) Row1: Skip the first stitch Sc 2, skip 1 Sc 12 Sc 3 into one stitch 12 sc Skip 2 sc and single crochet into 3rd Sc 11 more Sc 3 into one stitch 12 sc Skip 2 and sc into 3rd Keep going as above until you're left with 3 stitches then skip one and sc 2 Row2: Chain 1 and turn work over DON'T SKIP ANY STITCHES, go right into the first one - sc 2 Skip 1 and sc into the next Sc 11 more Sc 3 into one stitch Sc 12 Skip 2 and sc into 3rd Sc 11 more Sc 3 into one stitch again Sc 12 Repeat until end of row with 3 stitches left then skip 1 and sc 2
This went straight to my head.....if you hadn't commented on this I would have probably dropped the plan of making a blanket 😅 it's confusing.....thank you so much for making it simple❤️
if you need music when you crochet, i suggest "row, row, row your boat" just a suggestion, i have crocheted for over 50 yrs and i was taught this trick at least 30 yrs ago. instead of putting 3 single crochets in the peak, place a chain between 2 single crochets. that means single crochet, chain one and single crochet in the peak chain. this gives a much sharper point.
Still pretty new so I’m trying to understand exactly to get this right. So it would be sc12, chain 1, then go back to sc12 instead of sc12, 3sc into 1, sc12? Or did I misunderstand
@Jasmine Hernandez hi Jasmine, what Richard suggests is sc12, then in the next stitch sc1, chain 1and sc1 all in the same stitch, then sc12, etc. Hope this helps 😊
I did my first attempt on this blanket as she said (except I did double crochet) and on my second one I’m trying the stitch chain stitch. I’m glad someone else tried it before me.
My grandmother passed away before I was born and made a chevron blanket and I wanted to recreate one for my mother to use so she would like it. I’m glad I could find this it’s exactly what I needed thank you

Glad I found you. One other I watched worked from back loop and after a couple rows it looked stretched (my crocheting not the pattern) this one thru both front and back gave me a constant stitch. Thanks from a newbie 💜 from NY,USA

I finally worked it out I had 13 stitches in one row instead of 12 and by the time I reached the end I had 2 stitches instead of 3 ur patter is easy to follow once u knw what u are doing THANK U!!!!! For sharing this lovely pattern... Now I’m off so I can grow this into a baby blanket 😊 can’t air to see the end result...
Afro Katsis still don’t get it. I was doing 189 chains which is seven 27 chains. Then I added the 5 she said to add. And I ended up short on the end of row one. It’s wack. The creator needs to be Specific about the number of stitches that needs to be added when I am at the end of my x# of 27 chains.
Alisha Jane I did the same exact thing. Changed it to 189, added 5 and came up short. Only had room for 11 instead of 12 and didn’t have the extra three on the end. 🤷🏻♀️ I’ll try it again. Did you ever figure it out?

Me too Susan! I'm in my 60's and my Grandmother always knitted and crocheted why didn't I listen? 😄 I made my granddaughter a blanket for her bed. My Gmom would have been proud. Thank you for this pattern and colour choice. I tried chevron when I was still new to crochet and gave up. But I decided to try it again after a few years. Your tutorial has inspired me to give it another try. The colours are so eye catching and well matched. I think the final product I make will be a thing of beauty to enjoy for many years.
I started this blanket last night!!! I am loving how it’s turning out so far. I’m only using two colors for practice. It’s purple and white. Then I will make it in three different yarns. One skein is solid blue, one variegated and one solid white. I can’t wait to get started on the second blanket!! The variegated skein has blue, green and white in it!!! 🧶

I did 243. I've pulled my 2nd row twice. Smh. It wont add up. I'm about to do it once more. I'm sure it was because my daughter was blaring music in the background and I miscounted. 🤞🤯

i have been trying to find an interesting but still easy stitch for my temperature blanket that i am starting and this seems like the perfect one. i started it super late in the year because we’re already halfway through but i have decided it would be fun because of this i am switching colors every row and i hope it turns out looking good. thank you for the tutorial

I set out to learn the chevron pattern and tried a few videos until I found yours. You made it SO easy to understand I picked it up immediately and now I’m hooked (no pun intended).

Finally, a Chevron crochet pattern I can easily follow, and find success. I had previously attempted this stitch at least eight times,, and the couple/few rows I completed, never looked right. I was either missing stitches or had one or two too many, and their was a lack of sharpness in the peak and valley points. Thanks for your easy to follow Chevron pattern for beginners.

Really? It doesn't work for me. I must be stupid. After I do 12 sc there are four stitches at the end and then each row it increases by one. I don't have to do a darn thing it just increases.

Thank you so much. I have watched so many other chrocheter's teaching video's and yours is by far the best, at least in my opinion. I did my first very small blanket (puff stitch) taught to me by my grandmother when I was nine, and believe it or not, I have not had a crochet needle in my hand since then, I am 53 now. I felt the urge to do a blanket as over the years I have seen some beautiful yarn. The eyelash is by far my favorite. I am now attempting to crochet a blanket for myself with some very soft chunky (?) yarn. I so love this chevron pattern, and cannot wait for it to be done. Hi! Love this video! I'm almost finished with the baby blanket and I'm getting ready to do a border in a few days. Im just worried that with the peaks and dips, it won't look right. I don't crochet very often and this was a new pattern for me. I tried looking at different videos but obviously, other youtubers have different ways of creating the same blanket. Do you have a video for the border by chance?

I made many of these blankets in the 1970’s - full size, different size baby and a very small one to carry. My daughter had a favorite little doll she always carried along with the little blanket. My favorite yarn was Softex by Bucilla. Dayton’s Department store in Minnesota sold this yarn. A great baby gift was to buy a crib sheet and get yarn to match.

Adding one more comment: there are a lot of ripple blanket tutorials out there but I like the fact this has very tall peaks and deep valleys in other words : great contrast..It’s a personal choice but I really like the style of this blanket.
Cecilia Schleicher I’m the same way, if I’m doing something big, I’ll use double crochets. I imagine singles make for warmer blankets though. Less spaces.
I’d use the double crochet for anything big like a full size blanket. I know there’s more space, but I like my blankets to have that space for some breath ability
