I love chevron anything! I just inherited a queen size single crochet blo chevron scrapghan that my great grandmother made in the 70s. She passed just before I was born so it's pretty special to me for that reason, plus the fact that it was in my parents house my whole life. So many memories! You can very well tell it's 70s because there's a lot of browns, yellows, greens, and oranges. It was made with super saver and is in great condition.
Very clear description & good close-ups of the stitches. I love it when video crocheters are crystal clear & detailed without going too long. Excellent presentation & a lovely pattern. 😊
I DID IT. After Not Crocheting for nearly 15 years. I decided to start again. This was my first project. Turned Out Beautifully!! Clear, Precise Tutorial! Awesome Teacher. Thank you! I'm on the Hook Again! Thank you!!
So sweet! The first afghan I started was a ripple afghan in 1970. It was a beautiful mix of about 9 shades of fall colors. That was when I learned to ALWAYS make note of the hook size for each project! During my cross country move, I lost the hook I was using! I picked up a hook I thought was close enough! You know how that went! Been thinking about making another one after all these years. Thank you Bonnie for your inspiration and for the walk down memory lane! You are an awesome teacher.
I watched your video several times not because of your explanation but because of how my brain works lol after the initial 2 rows it works up so beautifully. Thank you for this inspiring video. Nice work
That sounds amazing! I grew up a HUGE Miami Dolphin fan as a kid living in South Florida! Even took care of Don Shula’s dog at the vet hospital where I worked!❤️ I remember Superbowls VII & VIII very well too! 😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️
What a great idea! I have one beloved earring formerly half of a pair that I didn’t want to throw away (actually, many single earrings). I knew they would have a purpose again. I, too, love Chevrons and had to see this video.
I will be making this 1 for sure. what pretty colors and I love the instructions. Had started another pattern when I found this pattern so I took it all apart so I could use the colors for your pattern. I am doing this in orange, yellow and browns. I make lap blankets for senior centers and this will be a good 1 for me to try. thanks for the easy instructions.
I love it! I have not done a chevron yet and can't wait to do this one. I think I will use your advice and do a stash buster for this one. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for this clear instructive video - I tried another chevron pattern and failed miserably … I’m so happy. I only just picked up crochet properly recently thanks to RU-vid and memories of my grandmother teaching my sister and when we were young.
Hi, just finished my second Chevron baby blanket and I'm pleased with the end result. I find it easy following your patterns and you take time explaining all the steps. I've knitted for years for all my family but can only crochet now due to arthritis , cant seem to hold knitting pins now. Anyway look forward to your next video. I'm going to try a Ripple baby blanket now . Bye now from Sunderland England.
Hi. Bonnie I. Love. This pattern. I. Have. Made. A. Few. Blankets. Using. It. You. Make. It. .easy to. Follow. And. The. Colors. You. Are. Using. Are. So. Pretty. Thank. You. For. Showing. This. Pattern
Hi that's very beautiful throw l just learnt how to do ripple crochet it's easy you made it easy and straight forward pattern to do from Bernadette from Hertfordshire
*I'VE BEEN TRYING TO RECALL THIS PATTERN!* I am YELLING with JOY because this is one of the first stitches my grandma Lucy Coker Jefferson taught me. She also did it in a double crochet zig zag, and it was sooo simple, but I just cannot recall exactly how it went. I've literally been on a sort of spiritual quest for a tutorial to jog my memory, so thanks, hear???
Thank you for making such an easy to follow pattern! I've watched about five other videos and this is the first one I've been able to make it to three rows!!!
Hi Ms Bonnie ma'am, I have been following you on this beautiful blanket. I have an issue I don't know how to fix. My blanket keeps getting wider and wider and wider... It's growing more square clusters and I don't know what I did wrong. Can you please help me. Thank you so much for sharing. I just love you so much Bonnie ma'am, I hope you don't mind. You are like a sister I never had or thought I needed! You are a great teacher 😉🥰.
I would really need a photo to understand what is going on, but sounds like you are adding extra stitches at the end of the rows. I recommend rewatching the first few rows of this project again to see what you are doing differently.
That is absolutely beautiful, I've just brought 3 colours of chunky to make a blanket, so I will be starting this pattern as soon as it arrives. Thank you so much for your wonderful video tutorials ❤️
Hi Goofy Kayla.. I'm Goofy Sue .. trying to type this while having a sneezing fit. Such a fit that had to go down to ladies room in my house. Anyway haha don't know what I was going to say. Love seeing you as always. Maybe my brain will do better at remembering. Yes it's a great day to crochet. 🌻🌼🌺❤️🐦🙏
Perfect project for me! I ve been crocheting for less than a year now and this is really nice and will keep me learning and progressing with my crochet skills. Thank you! Also I love your nail polish in this video! Very pretty!
So glad you are enjoying this on Lessons! Even after 50+ years of crocheting I LOVE working up throws like this one. They are fast, easy, relaxing and colorful.

Thanks for explaining this blanket so well. Love it! This will be my first crochet blanket. Kindly from Colleen in Tasmania, Where it's cold enough for many blankets!
@@BonnieBayCrochet Waiting on my wool to arrive and then i'm going to watch over and over again how to get your blanket style made. Staying warm in a snuggly blanket that i actually made myself..... CAN NOT WAIT !!! Bless u dear lady xo
Hi so am do u possibly have a video of a bottom n top edge border? Just wondering like a frame going all around for a edge? This is so BEAUTIFUL thank you
No, I don't have a video like this. Usually chevron style blankets don't need a border, but you can just continue the single crochets all the way around if you would like.
I do list this information in the video. Here are the yarn recommendations: 5 skeins each of Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky (100% acrylic, 100 g/3.5 oz, 136 m/149 yd). (I used 5 skeins of the colors #339 Sailor Blue, #334 Kingfisher Blue, #335 Duck Egg Blue, 15 skeins total.)
Your sweater is very pretty.Did you make it? It looks like a top down with a circular yoke. I do the count 5trick to. It happens that I can only do 5 chains before moving the yarn again. Thank you for this video. I love the ripplechevron stitch p and have used it many times. Lately I find my edges get uneven on the left, but ok on the right. I’ve tried different patterns but haven’t figured it out yet. Help!!
Yes, I make these sweaters and you can see this one here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lB7lJDT0pwA.html. You can always send me clear photos of the issue you are having to bonniebay@me.com and I can take a look.
I’m very excited to crochet the beginner chevron blanket. I would like to know how to print out the directions. Or can I buy a book with your beginner patterns?
That really all depends upon your computer/printer system Stella. The written pattern is available here: www.lovecrafts.com/en-us/p/easy-chevron-granny-square-throw-crochet-pattern-by-bonnie-barker
@@stellapuorro6941 yes I have a couple Avalon Amazon: www.amazon.com/s?k=bonnie+barker+beginning&crid=1MB6J129ZFZKX&sprefix=bonnie+barker+beginning%2Caps%2C75&ref=nb_sb_noss
My row 2 (after the SC row) ends after a valley; i still have the correct cluster count, but when coming back to do the next row, i have space for four clusters before the valley. My other side ends after a peak and has the space for the five clusters. My row 4 will not end correctly if i continue. I did the 178 starting chain as the video suggests. I have followed the instructions exactly.
I tried it over and over and kept getting the same result, and I know my counting was on track. I ended up finding a different pattern I liked with a similar style. 🤷🏻♀️ maybe I'll try this again one day
Hello Bonnie, 😊 Thank you for this tutorial. I have a question please. So I added 35 to my chain f 178 = 213 for 6 chevrons. I wanted my throw a little bit longer. I wanted to adjust for my Worsted Weight. I thought mine would not be as wide as your chunky weight yarn. Or my Chevrons would shrink my original chain a little. I have 212 stitches. But I realize, My R 1 SC row is a even number. While yours is odd. 177 Will this matter. Does odd I’m Ready even number matter with this chain I don’t want to have to frog it. Thank you so so very much. 🙏🏽💕💐😊
If you are off by a chain or two, you should be ok. Just may need to skip an extra stitch here or there on the foundation row. No one will ever notice. I promise!
Bonnie I added an extra 35 chains. I was not sure how to do Row 2 since I added the extra chains. I did row 2 repeat I think 4 times and then the last sentence of Row 2. It did not come out right. Sure hope you can help. Thanks so much. Mary H
