That extended double crochet is Genius! Your stitches and edges are so neat and orderly. This is what crochet would look like if it was taught at boot camp.🧑✈️
I 1st started (self taught) when carrying my 1st child. 48 years ago. I never learned to read patterns. Thank you!! For making this simple and fun. I appreciate the fact that you repeat what your doing.. I'm now mid. 60's and memory is not what it was. I'm glad your here!! Blessing to you. 😊🤍🫂
Oh my goodness! That was me 52 yrs with my first born. I also pains fully taught myself to read patterns. That helped a lot because I could then make his christening gown which then went down to my first daughter who is now 48 and the baby, now 45. Such beautiful memories for me. 🙏🏽
You are a good tutor easy to follow I appreciate how you actually open your work up and show where the next stitch or cluster goes. Repeating as you go. I. I’m hooked.
You know what I love most about your videos?? You plainly explain and show everything you are doing. Thank you very much for that. You have helped me more than I can say.
I have always been able to crochet Granny Squares, but I just could not crochet anything from a line of chains - until maybe 2 years ago, when I found my first Hooked by Robin tutorial. When I decided to try crocheting a scarf whilst watching one of Robin's tutorials, I couldnt believe how easy it was! Thank you, Robin! Im now just a few inches away from completing my very first crocheted shawl, and have recently started the back of my very first cardigan! ❤
I watch lots of crochet and u r absolutely the best teacher by a mile. I’m in Australia and I call u double crochet a treble. Wish all terminology was consistent across the world
Hi Dianne! Thank you and I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here: www.hookedbyrobin.com/crochet-stitch-conversions 😃🧶
Whatever crochet video I'm watching, I most often see one of yours, and I immediately switch. I stop the previous video and I play yours!! You, the best teacher!!
I love how you do your tutorials. You are so clear on every step. You make it easy to follow. Thank you especially for this tutorial. I've wanted to make a C2C granny for a long time . 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
I have made countless c2c blankets. But this way is mind blowing. I wish I would have saw this video before I started making them. I fought making my c2c edges look right the way I made all my blankets. I made all the squares for a baby blanket in one day I'm blown away how simple the way is. I'm sitting here tonight adding border color and connecting it all together.
@@HookedbyRobin the only issue I had with this was the last corner. It was really loose for me. I turned the last ch3 to a ch2 and it squared up so I could put a border on each square.
This has become my favorite way to make anything square or rectangle. The stitches are so pretty. Especially when using self striping yarn. I'm working on making a bunch of 9" granny squares using Lion Brand Landscapes yarn of different colors and will assemble them when I have enough. And the border! So easy! I made a blanket for my granddaughter and just last night added the border. It looks awesome so far. I have also ordered some ice yarn because of this video. Thanks Robin.
THANK YOU for sharing this technique! I have tried other c2c techniques and did not care for the excessive spaces and awkward turns. I have always yearned for something cozier and eye pleasing. This is it!!
This is the best C2C pattern I've tried, my edges are absolutely straight and even compared to all other c2c methods. Thanks to your tutorial, I've already made several c2c granny sq blankets simply by randomly joining left over bits of yarn together and they have turned out great .
Robin!! This is genius; you are the crochet queen!! I’ve just learned the c2c pattern and have been making soo many projects; THIS is a game changer for sure!!!! And then…. the cool joining is just as great! 🤩 thank you soo very much for sharing!!!
Thank you Robin for your awesome tutorials❣️ I have learned a lot from you & please know that you are appreciated for the hard work you put into making these tutorials. Also we appreciate that you do not charge for your tutorials like some others do, many of us cannot afford to pay. Blessings to you & all who read this in our crochet family. 🙏🏼✝️🕊️🦋
Awwh of course, they will be staying the way they are. I’ve just been on a short break over summer whilst I move house. Thank you for such kind words.🥰🤗
Thank you for this pattern. I have been doing c2c for a while and happened on this one. I have a new fav c2c stitch. Was really intimidated at first glance but set my mind on learning it and it is really easy. LOVE the color combos, have to order this yarn.
This is bloody quick!! Ya could literally make a blanket from it n shawl too! .. been able to knit since age 3 n crochet since age 11 n this is me 1st ever C2C at 67😂😂😂.. I’m a great believer of never too old to learn anything!..this is great for beginners.. far better than the normal C2C too! Nice one girl for puttin’ this up!👍🏼
I made this with you and I just have to take the time to say thank you! You are an amazing teacher, clear instructions, working along, explaining everything. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to share your knowledge with us. 💜😁
Thank you, Robin. The last three years I've been crocheting and donating blankets to Project Linus. I made a few C2C and ripple blankets. This one is a game changer for me. Halfway through my first, using 4 skeins of bulky yarn and a sz 8mm hook it goes super fast. I knew when I finished the 2nd skein it was time to decrease. If it doesn't turn out as big as I need, I will l add the cute border. I love how square this is, too. Thanks again!
Thank you Robin for this tutorial. I could never understand the extended DC. I love the way you explain the C2C method in this video. I love that color yarn you are using.
I just started doing c2c a couple of weeks ago.I’m really enjoying it so far.I was happy to see how easy you have made it with the granny stitch.Thank you 🙂
You are simply amazing!! I picked up this habit of crochet about 6 months ago. I found you on my first night on U Tube and with all the others out there, I keep coming back you!! Thanks for your time, patience, skills and your love for crochet. God bless!
Oh wow, aside from this being so pretty, I had that “Ohhhhh, /Ah Ha) moment when it kicked in and I knew what to do! I love it when a pattern tutorial does that! 😊 I’m looking forward to seeing how you join them together! Thank you for sharing! 💜
Your clear and perfect instructions remind me of one lady that was very amazing with her instructions, who had a RU-vid channel but just stopped making videos.. I was very sad that she never came back. Her channel was called “wooly wonders”. I think it’s been about 4 years since she made a new video. (It’s very hard to find someone who can give clear, perfectly paced and so understandable instructions.) I very much appreciate all your videos! ❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I've learned so much from your videos I can watch how you do the first row and even before you get to the end of it I can go 'ah that's how the pattern works!' Thank you so much! I'd love to try this one after I finish the last blanket I've been working on... it looks like it'd be great for scraps lol I hate making a million granny squares tho so I'm looking forward to the joining one even tho I like how the border looks 😅
Yes, clear and gentle way of teaching helps so much. Concise and easy to follow. I learned so much in so short a time. I want more of your teaching. And your yarns are beautiful. Too bad I'm in the US. Shipping is prohibitive.
I love your tutorials! Not sure which I'm going to try first, they are all wonderful. I'm considering doing a "patchwork" blanket with all different techniques. Thank you for these inspiring videos. Bless!
This is so pretty. I really appreciate your thoughtful lesson. Easy to understand and follow along (with no distracting music or needless jibber-jabber). Although I crocheted decades ago, I was a rookie - no real guidance back then. So I consider myself a beginner, and because of solid tutorials like yours, I feel like I can tackle any project. Thank you so much!
i am in love with your tutorials, easy to follow, your voice is soothing, your directions are clear, i doubt i'll ever find someone else who can teach me better! thanks
I tried this granny square before but didn't like the irregular sides on the decreases. Your method solved it and it looks perfect! The extended double crochet is just pure genius, thank you!
@@modavis8304 I saw a couple that were close to this but they weren't on sale. I ended up getting Craft Smart Ombre Color VM138 that worked up beautifully (and was on sale at Michaels).
I am so glad I found this video.. I appreciate your teaching style and I love that you have no background music .... love your accent makes me smile.. God bless you
That’s very interesting stitches and smart as well ! Loved your works . I will have to try to make a shawl . The yarn is very beautiful! Thank you Robin of your amazing tutorial !!! Stay healthy !
Robin, thank you for doing a full granny square. I have been scared to do granny squares but after this, I am going to try and I think it will go just fine.
I love doing Granny stitches so this tutorial is a joy to me and C2C is an added bonus!! The increase and decrease rows are explained and demonstrated so clearly! Thank you, Robin, for your excellent tutorials. Also love the border so I’ll be doing it!! Stay safe. Love & Hugs! 💕🤗💕
I’m already working on my blanket Robin! Love doing the C2C! I’m doing a white border too!! Many thanks for your wonderful tutorial! ♥️ Love & Hugs! 💕🤗💕
Hello Robin, I from Australia and always avoided C2C as I thought it too hard. But I saw your Video for a C2C square plus the border and sailed through it. Thank you very much for for your very clear instructions for both. All I need to do now is to find your joining methods after I do quite a few more squares. Again thank you, and I’ll shout you a Cup pf Coffee.
I was scared, my square looked like it was flaring. It actually turned out beautifully! I crochet super tightly, so if anyone else does too, this works best when you make your work a bit looser. Thank you!!
I love to watch your tutorials you make everything look so easy. You are great at explaining just what you were doing. I have started making my granny squares to make a blanket.
Thank you so much for making this wonderful video, Robin! I just discovered you because you came up in my RU-vid suggestions. I have been looking for some kind of granny square to make that would be pretty easy that I can work on while I'm on vacation. I think the little squares will pack well in between the stuff in my luggage. I love your voice and love the way you explain everything so clearly. Thank you! I have subscribed to your channel so I can see more of your beautiful videos. You are an inspiration to me!
another way to get a square corner on the last row. chain three, start the first double crochet in the cluster leave the loop on the hook, do the same for the second and third double crochets so you have 4 loops on the hook. pull through all four loops and draw the 3 double crochets together. end as usual with an extended double crochet. this gave me a square corner. i hope this helps.
@@HookedbyRobin It was a two way street. I also learned something new from you as well. After crocheting for over 50 years, it is great when I can sink my teeth into a new pattern.
I just restarted crocheting after a few years and I have always had trouble with the granny squares. After watching your video, I have learned a new way to do a granny square and I found this to be much easier. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow. Looking forward to learning more from you.
After I watched your tutorial, I flogged my c2c that was almost halfway, cause it looked a bit funny!! I started all over with your method and Whalla!! there you go! It is also my first c2c!! What will we all do without all your great tutorials !! Thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️🥰🧶🧣🌺🇿🇦
Robin your tutorial is excellent. I have been admiring this block, but I could not understand what others were doing. So excited I found your RU-vid. You speak slowly and pronounce your words beautifully. Much appreciated
Thanks so very much for this tutorial! ❤ You make it so clear .😊 I am wondering what yarn you used for this project, it is beautiful. Thank you for sharing you time and your talent! 😊
@@HookedbyRobin Oh wow, and there was me thinking it was cygnet boho spirit lol. This is beautiful too, I love love LOVE variegated wool. I'm always looking for something that can have a stained glass look, so the rainbow wool with the black border really called to me. In all honesty something about granny squares end up looking wrong to me, (and I just figured I was making them wrong somehow) I guess that's what you meant when you said that without the extended double crochet the sides tend to pull. I usually gravitate to more patterned squares (that end up being more time consuming) rather than doing the base stitch but after seeing this I am definitely going to try again. It's amazing that it's such a simple fix. Thank you 🖤💜
Thanks so much Robin for showing this.. I have made huge blankets in this stitch with all my scraps so colourful.. This is gorgeous idea doing small squares and surrounding them with a solid colour.. I love it. Thanks for all the tips your amazing sending hugs ❤❤❤
How cool is this! The C2C stitch is my most favourite way of crocheting my blankets. So I'm extatic to now know a different way of creating the granny stitch. Many Thanks Robin 😊
Thank you for your patient, gentle way of explaining and giving very clear instructions. My crochet is rusty but you have now inspired me to try this. Thank you
That’s pretty cool!! I have been doing a more “traditional “ c2c and at first was wondering why the stern wouldn’t work that way, but this is a whole different way of c2c. I’ll have to try this out! BTW 💜💜💜💜that color of yarn ! You always have such beautiful yarns for your tutorials. 😊
Dear Robin, Thank you so much for this video. I have a dear friend who has got away from crochet for a while and when I showed her this, she was hooked again. She is loving this and making so many squares. I also love it, Thank you 🥰
Miss Robin!! I'm putting on a black border now of my blanket. I went crazy and used an entire skein (440m) of yarn for the width, then worked another back to the opposite corner. It's 46x46 granny stitches! This is my fourth project completed, and you make it so easy!! Thank you so much❤❤
Thank you so much for putting up this tutorial. You actually teach and is friendly for beginners, when you’re a beginner you need every step detailed so you don’t get confused, I really appreciate the way you teach. I can’t wait to check your other videos out
You’re welcome! I’ve been enjoying a lot of your videos. I do have a question! I have finished a lot of granny squares but hindsight didn’t kick in and I did them all in varying sizes lol😅 I was just practicing but they turned out great thanks to you. I was wondering which method I should use to join them to make a blanket. I have my measurements down but I’m in a faff over which method to use. Thanks again

Nunca había logrado entender la técnica C2C y a pesar que no logro entender todo lo que hablas 😅 tejes de manera tan fácil y clara que no se necesita más. Muchas gracias por compartir, saludos desde Chile. ❤️🤗🇨🇱
I watch way too many videos and never make the project. This video I found a few weeks ago and I’m checking back to confirm how you did the border. I feel accomplished!
What a GREAT tutorial. The calm and clear way you explained c2c granny square is excellent. Just starting my sofa cover with this beautiful idea. From São Paulo, Brazil. 😊😊😊
Hi Robin, I enjoy doing granny squares for using all scrap wool, and I've never seen a c2c done this way in a granny Square. Thank you so much. Will definitely be making up things this way in the future 😀
Thanks for your help and your advices with the tutorial I handerstand all what you said. I start crochet few weeks ago. And l'm French. So thank you a lot... 😘 From France
Love to try this granny square. The square looks more square than the other granny squares that im working on. Looks good with the colourful yarn. And I love how the square gives a diagonal look. Will try it. Thank you for your video. 😘
Dear Robin, I'm so greatful to have found your channel ! Unable to read patterns I'm now ready for making a blanket from all my scraps and leftovers. Thank you so much! Greetings from Germany ❤❤❤
Oh my darling, I love this C2C granny square video, your tutorials are excellent and clear. I love the way you used black to frame the granny squares, it makes the colors pop. It looks like I will be working on some new projects, Thank you so much Robin 💜🧶
Hi Miss Robin just wanted to tell you that I love this tutorial, I am fully blind, and I’ve been trying to work up the seed to see, I went to other tutorials and I could not get it, but I got yours. And I just want to say thank you. I am also blind and I am going to start a C2C blindfolded granny challenge. Where I’m going to challenge my subscribers to crochet the C2C granny blindfolded.o
The blindfold challenge sounds like a heck of a challenge! I am so glad my video was clear so you could follow it. I have subscribed to your channel - your positive attitude is so inspiring! X
