Thanks for doing this tutorial on this blanket and for sharing it for free. You’re a good teacher. Very easy to understand and the pace was perfect. Thanks again. Can’t wait to make this for a friend in the same mauve colors you did on your other blanket.
My squares are 5” unblocked. And they seem thicker than yours. I used the same brand as you. Is that still ok for a baby blanket? How do I fix that for the next one? I LOVE your tutorial and your teaching style!
Making this blanket now but instead of green I’m using duty rose. I have never done granny squares before. You have made these instruction and following you along makes this very easy. Thank you so much .
I finished the blanket, and now i have to weave in ends and block it somehow. I thoroughly enjoyed making this blanket for a friend whose baby shower is Saturday! 🎉 i believe it took me 3 and a half weeks to complete stitching.
So I bought my yarn a couple days to do this blanket. I bought the mustard and the ivory but instead of sage, I’m using crisp air. I’m excited to get started!!
When joining the squares could you do the first 6 squares then repeat the next 6 squares and then join the two groups rather than adding square by square?
I have watched so many videos on how to make a blanket like this and found your video. I am so incredibly grateful that I did because not only have I gotten further with your help but I have almost mastered the magic ring! No other video explains it the way you do and I am so happy to finally get this project in motion! Thank you thank you thank you!!❤❤❤❤
I've been trying to start a crochet project for a while and this one feels doable, it's nice to see some beginner friendly patterns! Can't wait to finish it:)
Im so excited to get started. Question about joining though, is there another joining method that I could use? This seems really complex. If I choose another joining method, is there anything I should be mindful of? Thanks 🤩
for me I tie off each color it is a little more work but it make me feel better about it not coming undone. When you want to add another color join it where you tied off at, so far mine looks the same just have to crochet the squares together.
Love this, thanks for the tutorial! I made a modified version and did a small 12 square doll blanket. First time doing granny squares and I’m so happy with how it turned out! Thanks!
I just randomly found her channel in my recommendation now i'm obsessed with her videos she's so freaking talented.♥️🍡💗💕🍨🎂🥰💖🍧🍭💘🥳🎡💖🎉✨🎂💞🎠🎠🧁🥰♥️🫂😍🍓❤️😍🤭💗🎉❤️
Love the blanket! I want a smaller version of this pattern. I’m wondering if I can scale down the daisy petals… would it have to be a multiple of 12 since your pattern calls for 12 petals?
Hi I love this pattern! I'll be making it for future grandchildren. Im making it for my youngest daugter who just had a baby girl. I just started this blabket and its my first time😂 I had to mention that. After finishing all the pedals I realized where the first peddle is at the very beginning it's in a different spot than the others its under where its supposed to be, thats the best I can explain it. I'm concerned when I start the next color for the border that it might be a little crocked. What do you think I wish I could send a picture here but I dont think i can I looked
Love this tutorial, have been working on an adult sized blanket and putting it together for a while now, I am so confused about joining the squares when it comes to joining the second square in the next row, I did my JAYG stitches and reached the top of the square, preparing to join to the square above it but am at a loss of what to do with the extra stitch!
Humm. It's been a hot minute since I've made one of these so its not fresh on my mind. Have you tried reaching out inside of the Ash and Tay crochet FB group? A lot of people over there make my patterns and have probably made one more recent than I have. They're a very helpful bunch facebook.com/groups/ashandtay
It’s my first granny square blanket and all of my squares ended up wavy. I think it’s the difference in the tension from the flower vs. the border. How do you avoid this? Feel like I wasted a lot of time.
Ah thanks Roberta. I appreciate your kind words. I haven't been posting regularly and its affecting my views quite a bit lol. Hoping to get on a more regular schedule soon though!
Just did my first square and obviously my tension is too tight as it’s small. Also didn’t realize it was a baby blanket. Will make more squares with a lighter tension but nervous I’ll run out of yarn. A learning process for sure. Thank you!
When you go to add the green yarn., and are finishing up the cream. You say to pull it through your first petal, do you mean the three chain which is the first "petal" or the second one? (Not chain)
I start with chain 3 and then put 12 DC in first chain. I had a blanket with magic circle and it started to come undone because the ends were not secure enough. I use magic circle on hats and shawls but not on blankets anymore. This is especially bad when you have 48 squares
I love this. My friend asked me to make her one of these exact blankets. I was going to wing it from the picture she sent me and random RU-vid videos. So glad their is a tutorial for the exact blanket I'm making for her. Thank you so much.
Thank you very much for your help… I got in love of your design… it is my first time on crochet and I made a bag for my daughter and it looks amazing. Thank you again from Barcelona, Spain.
This is a lifesaver, I just found out my friend is pregnant with twin girls and they're due to be born in 3 months 😭 she didn't wanna tell me earlier because she didn't want her good news to overshadow my wedding, like girl, give a friend some warning, I need time to prepare gifts for you 🤣
I just bought this pattern to make for a gift for a friend's family member. Only problem is no one realized it's for a baby blanket size. Would you by chance be able to tell me how many squares you recommend making for a throw size? 48 x 60 maybe. I'm perfect following the pattern and video. It would just help me out a bunch if I knew the total amount squares I needed. Thanks.
Hi Rebecca Im not sure I haven't made a bigger one yet. I would make one square, measure it, then add up how many you'd need to get your desired length. Joining will add a little length too.
Ashley, in adding more squares to make it bigger, curious about the join process. Same? Just keeping going adding in the additional squares in each row?
Hi there I have a few questions about the yarn, since I can't acces the link/website. What material is it made of? How thick and how heavy is it? Thanks in advance for any replies. 😊
I did a one colour square with the same pattern, but two DC in each of the 12DC in the magic circle, followed by a Ch1. I did the whole square in a 4.5 Hook so it would be the same size as the colourful one.
When I get to the base color (green) there are visible holes from the chain 1 after the 3 hdc/dc. Is there anyway to fix this? This made my square bigger also. Unblocked it is about 5 inches by 5 inches. Besides that issue, this is a wonderful pattern. Edit: There was nothing wrong with the pattern, I was just not holding the yarn tight enough.
About to make this for my aunt its so stunning, roughly how many meters/yards of yarn did you use? I can't access the yarn shop webpage that you linked I think because of my country
The pattern says you used 5+3+2 5oz skeins of wool for the baby sized (32" X 39") blanket, so 50oz? Is that correct? Because I'm multiplying by 4 to make a single bed sized blanket, 200oz is a lot of wool! I just want to make sure before I order AU$400 worth of wool...
Hi, I love this blanket pattern. Thank you so much for the wonderfully clear instructions! I do have one question. Why do you not count the first C3 of the gold center as a stitch? I keep getting this weird chain sort of floating on the back of the flower center.
I absolutely love your channel and this blanket is gorgeous! I have made so many things I never would have and they all turn out beautifully! Thank you!!
Is there a specific reason you don’t go through both squares at once to single crochet vs doing each side separately? Will it create too much of a raised part?
Would it be possible to do the center first, all the centers, then once the 42 are done, do the petals, petals are done on all of them then move on to the granny square?
DO👏🏻NOT👏🏻DO👏🏻NOT👏🏻DO👏🏻NOT chain 3 for a double crochet at the beginning of every row/round!!!!!! Not unless you want to major gap in between your stitches. instead either use a stacked double crochet stitch or a standing double crochet stitch. You can look it up here on RU-vid how to do both. Do not chain 3!!!
For certain patterns, you have to chain up three. Unless you’re doing a video and explaining this, you should not have left this comment because you can confuse people when it comes to doing something like a pedal stitch. Which you absolutely need a chain three to get the desired height! If this was my video, I would have deleted this comment.
I have a coworker that would like me to make this in a queen size.Is there an easier way to join the squares?I'm not super confident I could do it as you instruct.Love the pattern though!🙂
Hi, beginner here. I realized that when crocheting the center of the flower, DCing 12 stitches + closing the magic circle leaves 13 spaces for petals. Am I doing something wrong?
I’m having that same issue! I ended up just counting the chain as a DC because if I skipped over to join at the top of the first DC, I had a big loop of the chain on the back. I’m imagining that technique is to make the center look uniform, but I’m fine with how it looks without doing it 😅
The very first stitch after where you left it - is this an extra stitch in the corner? If so, how do you do a joining row onto an extra stitch? And then when you get down that row, how do you join in a 4 corner? I wish you'd shown joining one more square, I'm SO stuck!! :(
As I'm crocheting these granny squares, I knew that it would be bumpy. I would suggest that instead of 1/2 dc, I would do all dc all around. My friend saw this blanket and asked me if I could make one for her. It's a beautiful pattern. Thank you for showing me this different way of joining, love it!!!
Hi I love this pattern. How many inches or centimetres is each square.? I want to make a baby blanket 100cm square. Love and thank you from South Africa.
Beginner here! When I go to do the petals, I make the stitches in the center so loose… by the time I’m done with all of the petals they just hang because the stitches are so loose! How do you prevent that?
You’re showing two skeins of mustard for the center of the flower and one skein for the petals…. Is that correct? It would seem that you would need 2 for the petals and one for the center.
Hi, I have just bought this pattern from you but it doesn't give an amount of each colour of wool that you will need. Also about how many stitch markers will you need, thanks.
A lot of stitch markers... You can use scrap yarn if you dont have a bunch on hand. Or bobby pins work well too. 5 skeins of your main color, 3 skiens of your pettle color and 2 skeins of your flower center color.
@@sharongeorge4528 Oh sorry I thought the yarn I used was linked but it wasn't. Here's the link where you can find all the yarn details :D www.hobbylobby.com/Yarn-Needle-Art/Yarn/Yarn-Bee-Soft-Sleek-Yarn/p/80787633
Feeling a little frustrated…I’m at the part after 41:40 and I feel like you missed teaching/explaining a step. Not sure how to connect the corners (the 8th square being attached) 😥😓
This is going to sound messy but bear with me… I connected the CH21 of the 8th square to the CH21 on the 4th square (top row). Then SH into the CH20 of the 4th square, added another CH on the other side of the JAGZ stitch. So it’s similar to how you add the two extra stitches when doing the long CH stitch along the bottom of the squares. I found that doing this made the edge straight.
Did you show how to block in this video? I think I missed it. If not, can you link a tutorial please? (I purchased this pattern off your Etsy but this video seems easier to follow)
HI Erika. No I didnt. I am not the best person to teach blocking. I just used a clothes steamer. I did each square individually then did the whole blanket after it was finished. @tlyarncrafts has some amazing blocking videos!
hello, I cannot access the link for the yarn in my country. Can anybody please tell me what is written on the label, is it 'Soft & sleek'? thank you so much!
I love this so much! I've been looking for a good video tutorial! I'd like to make a 9 square baby lovey blanket. Do I need to change the size of the squares or any other modifications? Thank you so much!!
