I’m hoping they work well as this a will be my go to for a quick gift .
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk 2 года назад
Hi! Sorry for the late reply, I use mine for taking things out of the oven! I do have a tighter tension than normal so I don't find there to be gaps between the stitches and the holder is quite thick. If you have a looser tension and find there are gaps between the stitches, you can try going down a hook size or 2.

I'm trying to do this, how can i know if my slip stitches and HDC are lining up, row after row.? Love your video
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk 3 года назад
Great question! You can tell if they're lining up if you can see the 3rd loop from the HDC every second stitch. The pattern will have that same texture all over. If each row you're working a SL ST then HDC, repeating across and ending with SL ST then you're good! Hope that answers your question!

Hi! The only cotton yarn I can find in my area is 8/4 yarn. Can I use this yarn for this project, and just make more stitches? Thanks!
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk 4 года назад
You can definitely use that yarn! Since it is thinner you will need to adjust the pattern in some way. I think the easiest way would be to use 3-4 strands held together, then the hook size can stay the same and you can follow the pattern as is. You can also use 2 strands but you will need to add more stitches and more rows and the look may turn out a bit different. If you want to add more stitches be sure to chain an even number. Hope that helps!

@TheTurtleTrunk

The problem with acrylic is that it can melt, so I wouldn’t use it if you’re planning on using this pot holder with hot items. Acrylic is fine if you don’t use the pot holder with anything hot enough to melt it

@jordantillson4103 3 года назад
Do you have to use two strands or can you use just one?
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk 3 года назад
You'll want to use 2, that makes it thicker so you won't burn your hand while using it. With only one it'll be much holier and smaller. If you did only want to use one, it would work better as a dish cloth.
@Barclaylindal
@Barclaylindal 2 года назад
If you do it with one strand, make two of them and crochet a single crochet border around them to put them together. Otherwise it isn't thick enough for a potholder. I have made them that way before.

love the pattern works up beautiful - but - the instructions call for 22 rows is this a typo I crocheted 12 rows ( 9 X 9 ) and this size seems perfect, I just wanted to be sure I wasn't making an error
@TheTurtleTrunk
@TheTurtleTrunk 3 года назад
Hi! I worked 22 rows for mine, it's not a typo. But you can work as many rows as needed to get a square! It could also be that you're counting 2 rows as 1. There are two rows between the ribbed texture and it can look like there's only one row, when there's actually 2.
