I am glad you did a blanket like this, thank you for keeping this one around. Currently I'm in love with Caron Cakes, I love the way this yarn feels and works up. Thank you-Linda

I am making one now thank you for the tutorial I wanted to get 20 finished befor Christmas to donate to a skilled care facility you have made that possible with this pattern thank you thank you❤️
I can’t wait to start this blanket 😃 It’s been years since I made anything ‘granny square’. I forgot how much I enjoyed them. Thanks for reminding me 😊
This was soooo helpful. I am starting a new project in this lockdown. We have monsoons in India so I am going to crochet with cotton thread and make a bedcover. Bless you
Bob Ross! haha Did you watch the recently made documentary on him. Really interesting. He reminded me of lot of myself. It was never about the money or pushing products. It was about his painting.
@@TheCrochetCrowd No, I didn't knew about that. But I will go look for it. He was just such a nice character and you seem to be just like that :) I'm looking forward to more of your videos. If you need an inspiration for one: I always have trouble in combining colors or choosing color palettes in the first place. Do you have any advice?
I had to chuckle. There's a Billy Preston song _Will it go 'round in circles?_ that popped in my mind. Actually, two rectangles make a really nice sleeveless top. Just leave openings for the neck and arms. Thanks for the video!
Mikey, I don't like to slip stitch so what I do at the last corner is chain 1 and half double into the top of the first double, aka starting chain. I then do a long chain and 3 double crochet for the first part of the corner I work the rest of the round and then end with the last 3 double crochet ch 1 and hd in the top of the first dc. This way I have a very neat corner and no slipstiching.
Hi guys, I’m a night owl and profound deaf. I would be very grateful if in the near future you would consider putting subtitles to your tutorials. Thank you 😊
@@Kwinn328 i poked around and while the english videos work, the spanish videos will not translate. i haven't tried any other languages yet. seems there are nice crocheting patterns in both spanish and russian. be nice to know what they are saying.
@@TheCrochetCrowd It really was! I had tried another rectangle pattern but it kept ballooning out and becoming round. I did this one, and stayed flat and straight. I love it! Will definitely be using this again. Thanks so much!!!
The introduction music with sponsored videos for Yarnspirations is non-negotiable as all of us use the same music. We cannot just change it and the tutorial creation costs money to make.
Hi I made this for my grandson It is about 52x42 it really worked fast. Because he wanted red and blue I didn’t use the yarn from video. When changing colors I usually went in a corner but, could probably use any chain one space. I was going to add picture but couldn’t figure how to attach it I’ll try by the written pattern.
Mikey, I've been studying Granny rectangle afghans and noticed that some videos show starting in the back bumps, but that is not stated in the accompanying written patterns. Once I saw it with RS at the beginning in the written pattern and using back bump in the video. Is it something that is just known by experienced crocheters?for the Granny? I cant wait to try this. You were awesome with the instructions. Thank you.
Jeanna Mancini Using the “back bump” is just a preference. Mikey usually always uses the back bump for most of the tutorials I’ve seen. It makes for a neater edge on certain patterns. Hope that helps.
so can you make this out of any yarn and hook size even by chaining the number of chains you have given in the written pattern will it still be the same dimentions ??
Is there a reason you don’t change directions for each row? It seems like changing directions would help keep the rectangle blocked better. I’m curious.
I usually start crocheting by taking yarn from the middle of the cake. .now when the cake finishes .in order to follow the colors do I continue by taking yarn from the second cake from the middle cake or what .Thank you
Mikey. Thank you so much for such a wonderful video. I made this rectangle. It came out just beautiful. This sneaks up on you b/c it is quick, beautiful, and makes a great gift. How can I send u a picture?
Hi I’m making this for my grandson but not using the Caron yarn.I’m using 3 colors he wants red, white and blue can I start new colors in a corner? I thought I would do it like a regular granny square but it would be rectangle. Will this work ? I thought changing colors at end of round might look funny especially since they are definitely different colors.
Love the pattern, but would like to make in worsted weight Caron Cakes/Caron Big Cakes. How many chains and what size hook would I need to make the same 48"X60" inch dimensions?
I would follow the Rectangle Afghan done for regular size yarn. thecrochetcrowd.com/crochet-granny-rectangle-afghan-tutorial/ Just follow the tutorial for the suggested one I have just linked to. That should help you.
I would look to the ball band for the recommended hook size and use that suggestion. I don't have that yarn here in Canada to see it first hand. That's what I would do.
I would like to make this as a lapghan which measures approx. 36" wide by 48" long. Anyone know what the starting chain should be? I'm working on donation projects.
When starting a new row why didn't you turn and continue the other way? I feel like this would be better and faster because you wouldn't have to slip stitch over every time. Or is there a definitive reason it's not done this way?
Hi, currently making this, when you're at the beginning of each round (when you do the slip stiches) what happens when you make your way to the corner over time...do you still repeat the same thing and when you make your way back around complete the corner?
The diagram was just used for the tutorial. It's not part of the written pattern. I'm sorry. I sometimes pull resources to help me teach even if it's not in the pattern.
Vickie Stiefer I started over and made the starting portion shorter. I may start again and just do a modern granny... I hate that the graph isn't helpful either since it's a reduced version of the actual pattern
I am making this now in the same yarn and colorway. I agree that it is way too long and still quite narrow after five rows. It is three times as long as it is wide. It will reach my feet before it covers my hips. I will probably pull it out and redo the starting chain shorter. Anyone know the multiple?
Mikey also put out video for a rectangular granny afghan in Sept. 2017. I used that pattern and made 2 of the afghans for Christmas . They turned out beautiful, but I used Red Heart Super Saver and Caron One Pound, it was the yarn I had on hand. Also I used a size "K" hook. My afghans came out 50" long and 48" wide. Therefore longer than wide but after all it is supposed to be a rectangle. A rectangle IS longer than it is wide. I also added a border of single crochet in each of the 5 colors I used. I do hope that you finished your afghan. They are so easy to do and turn out beautifully.
