I think your blanket is beautiful and I wish I could do blankets like that but it's hard for me to do because I have a bad left hand and it's not the greatest tan in the world so your blanket is very beautiful
Hi Jennifer I just found you and got so. Excited when I seen you were doing. Granny square blanket.. I. Subscribed.. Happy crocheting. From Ireland. I. Look forward to watching all your. Tutorials.. 🍀🍀🍀
Thank you, I am so glad you like it! The blocks are just shy of 12" x 12" each. I will hop over to add these dimensions to the free written pattern! xoxo
I don't know how I missed your message until now. I made a total of 35 squares and then did a granny stitch boarder with each of the colors used in the blanket. ;)
I know its been awhile, but here is the free written pattern jenoelleboutique.com/blogs/crochet-patterns/crochet-granny-square-blanket-that-is-too-big :)
Hi Sharlene, sorry I am so late to respond. I just crocheted a granny stitch border using one color for each round. There are a lot of great tutorials here on RU-vid for a Granny Stitch border. xoxo
Hi susan, I have the free written pattern on my website jenoelleboutique.com/blogs/crochet-patterns/crochet-granny-square-blanket-that-is-too-big I am hoping to get all of my patterns downloadable and purchasable this new year! xoxo As soon as I do, all links will be added to my tutorials and on my blog.
Hi! I will work on getting all the different color combinations for each block up on my website, so sorry I overlooked that detail. I hope the tutorial has been easy to follow. ☺
So bright and colorful. Just gotta make this one. Your instructions are easy to understand and follow. Do you have a final weight on it so I know how much yarn to buy?
@Jennifer Noelle I love this tutorial and am currently making one but is there any way you could explain a little more about connecting as you go. Do I finish all my squares first which will have 8 rounds for each square or complete one and then connect with another color. Sorry It was hard for me to understand. I appreciate it and love your work. Thx so much
Hi! I usually make all of my blocks to the 2nd to last round first. With this project it would be round 7. Once all of my blocks are complete I will finish one completely, then each one after will join. I hope that makes sense. I know the ending didn't turn out the way I was hoping, but here is a video explaining the join as you go a little better. You will use this exact method. The joining starts at 15:15 of this tutorial, please let me know if you need anything else! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FSYHXDqBlDA.html
@@jenoellecreates thank you so much. I understand now and I’m absolutely excited because there’s no ridge on one side, it flat and fluid. I usually would just do a regular granny square blanket and change colors as I went because I never could find a joining pattern (for individual granny squares like this one) that didn’t have a ridge on the reverse side. Thank you so much for the video link because it’s amazing. Getting ready to start putting the squares together for my hubby’s Christmas present 💝. Thanks again I greatly appreciate it. Hope you have a wonderful and safe Christmas and New Year.
I just found your channel and I love your videos. You describe things so well. I will be making this blanket soon! I can’t wait to see what’s next from you! Will you be doing any snow and tell videos of what you make? Podcast style?
Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words! I crochet and sew everyday and I have thought about doing a monthly video sharing my makes and any patterns, new accounts, products and resources that I have found during that month. There just never seems to be enough time in the day... :) I am working on a new collection of crochet handbags now and hoping to get a tutorial filmed and uploaded for them soon.
Here's the free written pattern! It's my first blog post ever, so please let me know if it needs any edits! jenoelleboutique.com/blogs/crochet-patterns/crochet-granny-square-blanket-that-is-too-big
Nice one, but if one examines 21:40 carefully, you obviously showed a slightly different pattern from the very start. Which in the end made the shown in the tutorial one a little bit thinner and with larger holes in the middle part. Very nice though, thanks.
Omgoodness! I have no idea how I overlooked that! I crocheted this blanket about 4 years ago and decided to film a tutorial for it a little over a year ago. You are exactly correct! the last row in the blanket is worked in half double crochets and the tutorial is done in double crochets. I will add a note in the description of this video for the error. Thank you for pointing it out, Im shocked I didn't even notice it. Also, thank you for the compliment. xoxo
Hi Ana, I used just over 2 skeins of each of the red heart super saver yarn. If you make a blanket slightly smaller than mine, you'll only need 1 of each. the full details are on my website. ( The link is above in the description.) xoxo
Hi… just discovered your channel. What a beautiful blanket, love the vibrant colors… quick question how do you crochet your border? I really love the blanket ❤️
Hi!!! Thank you fo being here, Im soooo new with RU-vid, sorry for my slight delay...I crocheted a granny stitch boarder in each color I used for the blanket. I hope one day to make a tutorial for adding a boarder. Until then, you can search here in RU-vid how to add a granny stitch boarder to blanket and there should be a ton of videos that pop up! ;)
Hi! sorry for the extremely delayed response. I have a better video tutorial showing the join as you go method in this video here, starting at about 23 minutes in. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--h2w_NErGv8.html This video shows half double crochets, but you can do the same joining technique with double crochets. ;) If you need any more help please let me know!!
Hi Brenda! No, you don't have to start with a magic circle. You can start any way you'd like. Many people prefer a CH3 or CH4 and slip stitching into the first chain to create a ring. I hope you enjoy crocheting this! Also, you can join the blocks any way you'd like. I prefer using the join as you go method, but you can also sew them, or use your preferred method. Happy Crocheting! -Jen
I used just one of each of the jumbo super saver red heart yarns with plenty left over. I just finished the free written pattern & here's the link jenoelleboutique.com/blogs/crochet-patterns/crochet-granny-square-blanket-that-is-too-big
Just consider this. If you limit your blocks to 7 rows/7 colors, you can create 5,040 different block combinations (permutations). That's a lot of choice and many uniqy afghans to make. If you made smaller ones , say 6 blocks long and 5 blocks across, you could make 168 unique afghans! Just some fun facts.
I know and I am so sorry for that! There are so many ways to join granny squares and the join as you go method is my favorite. I never thought that this video would get so many views and initially I just thought a handful of people would even watch it. If you are ever interested in that method in the future you can search "join as you go method crochet" here on RU-vid and there are so many great videos showing how to do it so much more clear. ;) Happy crocheting!!
I am so sorry I am just now responding to you. I used one skein of each color. Because I used the jumbo skein (there's about 3 regular size skeins in the jumbo size) I only had to use one of each. lmk if you need anything else! ;)
The free pattern is finally live! This is my first written pattern, so I hope its clear and easy to follow! jenoelleboutique.com/blogs/crochet-patterns/crochet-granny-square-blanket-that-is-too-big :)
Yes!! A great blanket for stash busting! I too have an embarrassing amount of yarn...I always tell myself to use what I have but each time I'm at a store that carries yarn I find myself with a cart full. haha Happy crocheting!
@@jenoellecreates ❤️❤️. What’s with that crazy yarn obsession. Who would have known. I cannot stop. That’s why I was desperate for a yarn clean up. I have Fam looking at me sideways. Lol lol. I can’t hide it. Because I usually order. So the evidence comes right to the mailbox. So many ideas and projects and plans. So very therapeutic. Who would have known. Happy Stitching 🧶🧶❤️
