Hello, the easy way to add more rounds is to increase 12 stitches with Hdc(No more frontpost stitches cluster)..Maybe work the hdc into the 3rd loop for different texture. For round 8 will be like this:(Hdc in next 6 stitches, 2 HDC in next St). Round 9:(Hdc in next 6 stitches, 2 HDC in next St) & so on. In some round, the increase sts need to be work in different spaces(do not work it in the top of previous increase to avoid the sides from polygon shaped.

Yes you can. I bought it at hobby lobby here in the US. If you like the bag stiffer, other alternatives are plastic place mat, plastic folder/board & just cut into round.

Hi, I have not tried using cord but I have seen many using it for bags. I think it will work for this too.

For bigger opening. Try make the shorter base and longer zipper. I have 56sts and 28 sts for the zipper or make the base a little wider like adding more 1 or 2 rows in each panel(the 56 sts).
