In this video, I show you how to crochet a skims-inspired maxi dress. This dress is perfect for the spring and summer seasons. It is flowy and light! This dress is easy to make and uses basic stitches like chains, slip stitches, single crochet, double crochet, and increases. I believe a confident beginner can successfully make this dress!
Materials: Bamboo Yarn (I used Truboo by Lionbrand), 5mm/3.5mm/1.75mm crochet hooks, yarn needle, measuring tape, & 2 stitch markers.

yess it definitely takes some getting used to, but a lot of my recent projects have used bamboo yarn so i’m getting better at it! i still have trouble with my hook splitting the yarn sometimes though but the end result is always so worth it🥲

It is on the pricer side, but one skein surprisingly goes a long way for smaller projects in the summer!

so I found a yarn I like better but it’s 50 cotton and 50 bamboo would it still be cooling ? I don’t have much experience with cotton yarn

Hello! Yes, it should work as well. From my experience the cotton and bamboo blends are a tad thicker, thus making the dress a little heavier. Cotton is great for summer projects because it is still pretty breathable like bamboo yarn is, I just wouldn’t recommend Acrylic because it would be hot!

the pink hook is the 3.5mm hook and the blue is 5mm, i explain in the video where i make the switch!

You accidentally wrote bottom of the dress at 7:25 when in the voice recording you said top of the dress

hello! maybe i could have worded it better, but i meant you’re inserting your hook into the top of the bottom portion of the dress so you can work on the top with a tighter tension if that makes sense! you start off making the bottom “skirt” part and then do the top after that!

You can, but I wouldn’t recommend it because it will be hot for the summer and spring. I’m also not sure if it’ll be able to achieve the same drape. Maybe a lightweight acrylic could work though!
