If you need help doing row 3 and beyond, here’s a tutorial I used to learn the stitch: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1_5pHBcVhuU.htmlsi=_yobw8npqBfxAXOz Also, I am doing an extended double crochet/ UK double crochet in this video instead of the US double crochet like intended- either one works though. This is a really old video so my newer videos don’t have this problem! :) Sorry for the confusion 💓
You are doing an extended dc not a normal dc. An extended dc is yarn over pull thru 1 loop then complete as a dc with the last 3 loops on the hook. A dc is a yarn over pull thru 2 loops, yarn over pull through last 2 loops. There are a lot of beginner crocheter that may not know this. Beautiful skirt.
This is beautiful. Never thought of using mandala yarn for this. Have u thought of working this in a continuous circle so that u don’t have to have the unsightly seam? Like literally just at the end of the chain just attach it with a slip not to the beginning then u can work the skirt going around a circle and still add the pull string to the top. Since it’s just an easy stitch being repeated you can literally just work this in a circle and skip all the other stuff. So much simpler and no seams!
Did you do this in a circle successfully? ? I bought yarn to make this for my granddaughter , Mandala Ombre, but she does not like the color. Ih ave so much yarn in this house. Have you ever used a different yarn successfully for this skirt> I don''t want to make it and have the yarn make it a failure LOL
i tried this and without tht unsightly seam, my project was all messed up. its a very long chain so it kept turning and it was impossible to straighten it as i crochet. i had to frog 2-3 hrs of work. next time dont suggest something if ur not going to help explain all the way through.
@@yanybanany there is a simple way to do a circle and the chain is never twisted. On RU-vid look for "do not twist chain" or "keep crochet chain from twisting". It works great
Great pattern! You are so easy to follow, and have one of those voices that's easy to listen and learn from, if that makes sense. I'm glad I found your channel :)
to start row 3, you need to chain one after doing the 3 dc in the last stitch. Turn you work and do a single crochet in that same stitch and then continue the pattern: skip 2, 5dc in the third stitch, skip 2 and a single crochet in the third stitch
I am a new subscriber I really love the skirt especially the stitches that you used. I would like to make this for my teenage granddaughter thank you for sharing
After the 3 double crochet on the end of my second row, do i chain 1 or immediately go into the shell? Im so confused on this part and i dont want it to look bad! @briannasipp
@@briannasipp okay girl, I panicked when I first saw there were no directions written. Cause having a boo-tay makes things a challenge lol. But I measured and it came out flawless!! Thank you for that!!!
i just started this making this skirt, how many rows did u do to get the maxi skirt? ik that it differs based on height but i’d like to know approximately how many rows i need
So beautiful!! Could you add the length of the yarn you used? I mean, different balls have different lengths. I would say giving information about the weigh and the length would be more helpful than mentioning the amount of balls. I can’t wait to start…. But I need to finish my scarf… And there is still time left till summer….
Beautiful skirt and beautiful work! That doesn’t look like a traditional DC. I thought you were using UK term at first…But looked close and noticed you only yarned over once when you went into your stitch but then yarned over three times when you were pulling through your loops on your hook. Usually a double crochet is pulled through with twice not 3 times. Anyway, interesting. I’m just wondering if maybe there is a different name for this type of double crochet stitch?
You place it in the first and last stitches of the row if that makes sense! So for the beginning of row 3, you'll chain up 1 and turn your work. Place 1 sc in that same stitch you just ch up 1 from, skip 2 stitches, then place 5 dc in the next stitch and continue with the pattern in the video!
You are quite talented and thanks for sharing. But I cannot help but noticed you make “3” movement when making your DC as if it’s a triple crochet stitch. Interesting 🤔
Thank you so much! And you’re so right I’ve been doing it like that for years, I taught myself how to crochet in elementary school so I guess I made up some stitches haha but doing the double crochet correctly will still come out pretty much the same!
such a cool skirt! i want to make this with thicker yarn and a 9mm hook do I need to change anything or will it turn out the same? thanks so much for the pattern!!
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that you either did 112 stitches which isn’t a multiple of 6, then added 2 to make 114. Or you did 114 stitches (which is a multiple of 6) and didn’t add the extra 2 stitches at the end. I hope that helps
So, I just found you...you’re cute as a button! See to have a super sweet disposition... I’m sub’d to prob every crochet channel that’s doing tutorial on YT lol. If you don’t mind some critique to help you improve your channel so it’ll grow...if so, keep reading, if not, skip on past. I’m guessing that you are using a phone to record this...I would if I were you and wanted to perfect my vids to grow your channel, I would invest in a good camera/mic setup. That’ll include a stand, good background, and super bright lighting. Now I know that’s some money, so like I said - eventually. Buy things as you can. I’ll also suggest a white and a black background. That way depending on the yarn your using it’ll show up well. You can get a flat sheet and a ‘science fair’ style poster to lay sheet over as a cheap, yet great background. Zoom in really close so it’s easy to see where what you’re doing with your stitches. Not sure if you have any crochet stitch books. There’s like a ton on Amazon. I’d get one and start reviewing the stitches. Let your audience know that you are using American terms, as ‘English’ (as in England) use different terms. The stitch you are using here at the beginning of your vid, is called a ‘herringbone double crochet’. A normal dc is - yo, insert hook into stitch, yo pull out of stitch, yo pull through 2 loops, yo pull through last 2 loops. You were instead doing the herringbone st, which is - yo, insert hook into st, yo pull out of st and pull through first loop on hook, yo pull through 2 loops, yo pull through last 2 loops. Jsyk. You want to zoom in really close so that ppl can easily follow what you are doing. It’s esp needed for newbies learning, *(which the comeback of this craft is due to yt’ers doing these tutorials). Everyone learns differently, so you may be able to teach so that some will learn better with you than another channel. Some great channels to checkout are Hooked by Robin; Bag O Day crochet; the Crochet Crowd; MJs off the hook designs; Daisy Farm Craft...just to name a few great ones. Watch how they record/teach. Great to learn from these long time veterans. I wish you all the luck! I know it’s hard getting started. Do it bc you love it! It’s a great way to preserve what you’ve made and how it looks. It’ll take a good while to grow, but be patient and you’ll get there! Good luck! Now I’m off to watch your other vids!
Wow … it wasn’t until I had finished almost an entire cake, wondering how on earth this will make up half the skirt, when I thought “Oh! This looks nice - let’s see how it …” SEVEN INCHES TOO BIG!!! I need to gain weight but come on!! So I unraveled it all and am starting over.
@@angellll7272 - I did unravel and start over. I think I must have lost more weight than I thought because I KNOW I triple checked to make sure the foundation chain wasn’t too loose again. It’s finished. And waiting for me to gain a significant amount of weight 🥺 I say, if it being too big will make it your last choice to wear, it’s worth starting over or giving what you have to someone and starting over that way - less painful, hopefully.
um question with this kind of skirt isnt the holes on skirt a bit too see through, can it be made to be a bit less through, or am i worring too much? or do you just wear nude underwear inside
I got yarn that’s too small. I’m on the third row and it’s looking kind of gappy. As I go along should I used a smaller hook? the yarn called for 4.5mm. Or should the holes get smaller as I go? This is my first attempt at making anything
You should really show at least 4 rows of your repeated. Not just 2. This is not a very good video. I shouldn't have to go thru the comments looking for how to do something. Thats the point of the video. It's a lovely dress and the pattern is easy. However you leave many people wondering!!
