I love how you're making ponchos & granny squares modern again. Love them! 💟💛💙💛💟 You have sooooo many WIPs going at once! Hmmmm.... hard to pick a fave memory about crocheting as it's my happy place! 😆🌼🌷🌸🌞A proud moment was when I went to an elective crochet class at school when I was about 11. I brought in my next crochet project of a doll's dress with the pattern & got started. The teacher came around & couldn't believe how complex the pattern was & realized I knew more about crochet than her! I was soooooo chuffed & ended up being her assistant helping the other kids to crochet. 😆😆It was one of the life events that affirmed that I wanted to be a teacher. YAY! 🌞🐨

Favorite crochet memory is my Grandmother teaching me to make crochet hanger covers. I still have the hangers I made all those years ago. I wish she was still here to see how far my crochet skills have come. We planted a magnolia tree in our backyard and were bummed when we heard it takes ten years to bloom. We are still living here to see it bloom.

My favorite crochet memory is from when I first started learning. My great-grandmother taught me when I was 6 years old. She passed away when I was 17 so every memory of her is a precious one. So thankful she took the time and had the patience to sit down with me and help me to learn.

Can't wait for the Granny Mayhem tutorial(s). Granny squares are my favorite❣ My favorite crochet memory is crocheting with the first group of 5th graders that I taught to crochet. We were having a field day at school and several of them asked to crochet with me instead. We had a ball and they were so talented. Some of them still crochet and they learned 5 or 6 years ago. It warms my heart. ❤🐑❤

Hey Christa! Lovbr the ponchos. My favorite crochet memory is not of me crocheting, but my mother. I used to love watching her. She made intricate lace patterns and the loveliest afghans. My favorite was when she made me a granny square bedspread of all pastels. I was so proud of it! Still making circles, and only have only 5 left to go!

I absolutely love your ponchos, can't wait for the tutorial.. my best memory so far in crocheting is when I made 100 hats for babies in the hospitals at my crochet group.. we make for preemies, newborn, veterans, nursing homes, humane society, etc ... we do other projects also besides crochet.. we make surgical hats from material for the local hospital, and quilts, etc..I am lucky to be able to help these lovely ladies, they are all fantastic..

My favorite memory of crochet is mom teaching me the chain stitch. I had some Christmas variegated yarn and she had me working on my chain stitch until I was good with my tension and control. She then rewarded me by putting my chain stitch chain on the Christmas tree that year. I was about 9 maybe 10 years old. Been hooking ever since. Then she had me working on other stitches that same way.

My favorite crochet memory has to be the first time I made a hat. My mom was teaching me how to read patterns with a Barbie doll dress pattern. I was using worsted weight instead of thread so it was huge and scrap yarn. The bell of my dress looked so much like a hat I just cinched the top closed and I still have it. I was so proud but it's funny to look at now. Lol. Lime green, yellow, and hot pink!

Hi Krista, my favorite crochet memory was just sitting with my Grandmother watching her crochet and in the process learning it at the same time. I wish that my children had wanted to learn to do any of the craftings that I do. They did learn the basics of crochet, knitting, and sewing but that was it. They did try to do those things with me along with lots of other hobbies that I have as well. They did try at least but they were never interested in them. sigh... They love the finished products that I make but they don't like creating them for themselves.

Thank you for the update on everything and your trip to the mall. I enjoy seeing another country. My favorite crochet memory is making my first baby blanket for my daughter who is now 47. Back then you did know if you were having a boy or a girl. I used variegated pastel white, pink and blue. It was crocheted in strips. I was so inconsistent every strip was a different size, but I joined them with a border of popcorn stitches around each strip then a all around scallop border. We had such limited patterns and information. Instructions seemed to be word of mouth and I didn't know anyone who crocheted. I just had a little how to book with a few stitches. You bought yarn at Kmart. Gauge? Who knew about that! Until next time.

My fondest memories were of my grandmother, who taught me to crochet when i was around 8 years old - she and my grandpa would come over every Saturday night, she would wash her hair and my mother would roll and set it for her for Sunday - after that was done, she would spend time teaching me and helping me with a project - i still have the first hat, a tam, that she helped me make - wore it to school that year all the time

I love yours poncho,the blue poncho gave me an idea for a great blanket. For the dress name I call it Solid Chevron granny dress. I just started learning to crochet. My great-grandmother tough how hold the yarn and the hook. The tought me the crochet chain and she try to teach me to crochet. But at that time it was really hard to understand. I remember watching her crochet and how fast she was and how she didn't have to look at her crochet project,but she somehow know if she made a mistake. She crochet while watching her favorite tv shows. You guys might have as many potholes some city in state. I haven't seen that many speed bump in my life. Hi Krista my favorite crochet memory is when I learned how to single crochet up to the next level. What I mean by that is when I learned how to go to the end of the row chain one and crochet in the same crochet. That was hard for me I didn't understand it when I read it I read it for months and months and months and never really understood what it meant. Now I understand it took me a long time to get it but I got it and now I'm happy. Everything that I do comes out straight no more crooked projects going to one side. So that was my hardest thing to learn how to do thank you

My favorite recent crochet memory would probably be when I finished my first-ever afghan as a back-to-campus present for my daughter (just entering college that fall), and my husband liked it so much that he requested one just like it for himself! A very old crochet memory was the thread-crochet hat I made as a 4H project in high school, which won a blue ribbon at the county fair that year. (Haven't done thread crochet since then, though -- ergonomic steel hooks weren't available until quite recently, and such fine detail work gives me eyestrain nowadays.) As to the dress, perhaps the "Waisted Granny Chevron Dress"? (Which also makes a naughty pun, implying that Granny's been nipping a bit too much of the "adult beverages" -- so the no-pun version would be "Granny-Waisted Chevron Dress".)

When I was 10yrs old I’d asked my parents if they could buy me an outfit for my doll. Of course they said no, it was too expensive. With disappointment I looked at my doll with the same outfit when I got it, I didn’t know how to sew but I did learn how to crochet so with many attempts I ended up crocheting a short dress with a hat.Till this day I always remember that moment with a smile when I crochet.

Fave well I have 2. I live in a really small town and often talk to the mail lady when I go to send stuff to my grandgirls. She new I was finishing up crocheted blankets for them. Normally I can just walk up but this day it was crazy busy for some reason. So I was waiting in a long line and really loudly when I walked in she goes oh hi that’s my favorite HOOKER. I LAUGHED so hard because there’s a lot of posh people in my town that would prefer to pay hundreds of $$ than crochet anything so well you know what they thought. Hilarious 🤣 Second I was wearing my boho cardi I made that I changed a bit and added skulls to the square in the back seeings that the boho was my very first wearable I was excited anyways to the point Robin lol. I was shopping at Costco and I got stopped twice by people raving about it. The First Lady was like how’d you get the skulls I’m like oh there crocheted she was gushing as I was like wow someone likes my stuff. Then a lady stopped me that works there and she’s like I adore your sweater I crochet and just got first at the fair and then she’s like your really good. Anyways made me feel crazy good. Everything else I’ve pretty much given away so they have to be nice and say they like it Hahahaha

My favourite crochet memory ... I was very excited when I finished my first hat. But maybe my greatest experience was when I finally finished a Night Fury´s hat for my son, it was my own pattern, with many details, not easy at all. I'm so proud of my own for that GREAT project!! :)))

I think my favourite memory was when I finished the Lego blanket I made for my grandson. The individual bricks were relatively easy and I found it would only take me 10 minutes to make each one......BUT had to make nearly 200 of them to make it big enough to fit a single bed. The worst part was the crocheting of them together, that seemed to take FOREVER!!! Got so frustrated during it and thought it would never end but when I had sewn in my last tail and it was finally finished.....the relief and satisfaction were immediate. My grandson picked the 4 separate brick colours and the border colour and the end result was amazing. I have posted the video of it on your FB group page when I first joined. The look on my grandsons face when I handed him the finished blanket was what made it all worth it, he loves it and it's permanently on his bed, no-one is allowed to touch it but him (except his mum when it needs washing, but she says it's very difficult to get him to agree to that!!! lol Teenagers!!!)

Not working on anything here, have injured the tendon in my thumb and wrist and it is taking FOREVER to heal. I kind of manage a row of a bag and end up in pain so I've given up for now. So jealous of everyones work atm. My favourite memory of crochet was realising I could actually crochet something worthwhile this time last year. woohoo! Favourite piece I have crocheted would be my Christmas reindeer and Redheart Aran Heart throw. (what I injured my hand on ).

Hi Kathleen, its awful isn't it. I've had it for weeks now with no improvement, I'm currently trying restricting movement of the thumb, and I was only doing it for half days but found out it should be for 24/7 for 4 to 6 weeks. If it doesn't improve then I will ask Dr for an injection. I hope you are also finding comfort in your road to recovery.
@masuganut2082
@masuganut2082 6 лет назад
Karen Perkins I’m not seeing much improvement honestly. I have so many things to make for Christmas and it’s very frustrating. I broke my wrist over twenty years ago so idk if that’s a factor. Even holding my phone hurts. And last night I slept on my arm funny and it hurts even worse. I’ll keep positive for you that you will heal without having to get an injection. Thank you for the well wishes ❤️🍀🙂

HoWDY CHRISTA, im loving these Mayhemsical Granny previews!! The cotton squares.. sweet! but I am HEAD OVER HEELS FOR THE BLUE JEAN COLOR WITH TAUPE SHAWL ~ JUST LOVE IT. Add you can see the stitches, it's already A Classic Beauty!! I'm sure you know n are already trying to fix it.. but just in case (maybe its all the lively sunshine your coming into in your neck of the woods?) your so darn washed out in your skin.. colors in lighter tones washed out. I tried to reduce brightness on my end.. no bueno baby lolol its like a spotlight is blasting you and whatever is lighter in color etc. Starting to cool down a bit , at least early in the morn'n so hope to get these heavier wips back underway.. like my comfy cadri.. ugh! like to enjoy this season lol. HAVE A SUPER DAY SIS~ X'S FAV MEM...1ST PROJECT I COMPLETED since brain injury. The look on my grandsons face when I gave him his Cal King Spider Web.. lol WAS PRICELESS! HAHAAA THE STRUGGLE TO RELEARN EACH STITCH EVERYDAY FOR 3 MONTHS.. I'LL NEVER forget or dismiss, nor regret!
