What type of velvet yarn did you use. I bought mine at Walmart mainstays brand. My gnome is coming out real big. I did one with 4 ply regular yarn and ot came out very good. Should I be using baby velvet yarn?

I used Retro Velvet from Premier for my gnome! I am not sure about Walmarts velvet yarn and how big it is honestly, but most of my chenille style yarn is about this size, if that helps (Premier's Parfait Chunky, Hobby lobby Yarn Bee Ador-A-Ball, etc)

This is awesome! I went to Michael’s & Joann last week for more holiday supplies & actually got velvet yarn in order to participate in this!Looking forward to doing this! It will be my first crochet gnome 🥰

@@novagnomecreations I’m excited too! I was going to start it yesterday but, my teenager had a last-minute gift emergency, begged me to make her friend a little loaf kitty like the one I made for her in blanket yarn, to add to the other little presents for the gift exchange. So I spent a couple of hours whipping that up in 4 weight. It was a hit! (In fact, the other two friends really want one now, which tickles me!) I will forward a pic of that and some other recent makes soon. I’m probably going to watch the rest of your very awesome tutorials all the way through before I start, and comment along the way. So fun! 🤩

Do the written instructions have stitch counts for smaller yarn??

You can do the same as I show in the video In any sized yarn as long as you change hook sizes too. Your gnome will just come out smaller if you use a smaller yarn 🙂

@@novagnomecreations I'll buy a pattern that shows how to make it the same size using a 4 or 5 weight if possible. I'm not able to do reliable calculations right now unfortunately. Thank you!!

Hey x I've just started this tutorial as I loved him the second I saw him, after the blo round the video skipped to after 8 rounds. Could you let me know what I need to do next plz? Is it just 8 rounds of sc x thanks in advance xxxx

What a wonderful tip about weighting the bottom. I am just a beginner at amigurumi, I am drawn the most to the mini toys. In 2019 I made some knit elves. That pattern called for 1/2 inch washers in the bottom. But those are too small for the crochet patterns I am finding. Your tips are perfect for me. Thank you. I am almost finished with the first doll I am making for my granddaughter. It is 9" and taller than what I really want to make. I have learned that I can use different sizes of yarn and get different sizes of toys. I will play with that.
