Crochet Tiny Taco Keychain

Happy Taco Tuesday! I've got a tiny taco that is easy to crochet! Plus you don't have to weave in your ends! It measures about 4 inches wide and makes a great keychain. If you have scrap yarn lying around, it will work well for this project. This is truly a 10 minute project (AKA the 10 minute taco!)

I have been looking for a while now with out any luck how to crochet a large animal or plant pillow. and can not find a tutorial like this one you have made for the little taco. I like this one you tell how to do it step for step. Do you crochet pillow covers? Thanks in advance. cembry

I know it's been a few months since you've made this comment but I have been in the same boat, wanting to do something specific but not able to find a tutorial on it, and I wanted to pass on some advice/try to help in your quest. In each case I've had this issue, I've ended up having to trial and error it and come up with something myself. Which may be what you'll have to do if you want to do an animal or plant pillow cover and can't find a tutorial for what you're looking for. Fortunately there are many ways to do this. If you are looking for a 2D image of an animal or plant, may I suggest looking into corner to corner crochet? It's a concept of crocheting small squares in diagonal using double crochet stitches, and you can change colors out at any point in time fairly easily and create images in block/square form. There are many tutorials on how to do this type of pattern, if i remember correctly I learned from a video done by the channel The Crochet Crowd, you could check that out if you want, or any others if you wish to do so. Or for more 3D like images, you could crochet a plain square/rectangle/shape the size of the pillow you want as the background and then crochet individual flat pieces like ovals or small rectangles or another shape, add eyes and so on to make an animal body and then sew these pieces onto the plain shape you had crocheted to start off with. Or for a plant, there are many tutorials on how to crochet 2D flowers, they'll probably be small flowers, but you could make several and have a small flower garden on the pillow. If not a flower and instead is a different plant, there are videos on how to do succulents and leaves and probably other plants as well, you can make some and sew them onto the shape being used as the background. However this method requires a ton of sewing so if you dont want to sew a lot then i wouldnt recommend this method. But if you don't mind sewing then you can be as creative as you want mixing aloe plants with maple leaves and whatever else. For the full 3D look, like you want the animal or plant to be the pillow itself and not just an image, then looking at tutorials on how to crochet stuffed animals/items might help a little. The item in the videos will not be the size you will be wanting for a pillow, but the concepts will still be the same or similar. If you find one you like, you could try to increasing the stitch count to make it the size you want, just try to stay consistent to the pattern's increases to keep it looking ok. Like the taco in this video, there were increases in each round to make the shell. To make it bigger, just continue adding more of those increase rounds. It's typically adding 1 more stitch than the previous round between each increase (so like round 1 would be the base stitches, round 2 would be each stitch is an increase, round 3 would be one stitch between increases, round 4 would be two stitches between each increase, so on, well at least that's what I do, you might find a better method or one you like doing more). Then for plants you can have the flower petals as the border of the pillow or have the bottom part of it as a flower pot with the plant sticking up out of the top of it or whatever it is you are looking for. There are also many granny square type videos that have large 3D flowers/etc on them that you can also do/take inspiration from. You can always take concepts from different videos/tutorials and combine them together to make something different or new. You're the creator after all, you can be as creative as you like! Everything I said here is all just suggestions, you don't have to do any of this if you don't want to. And if you do, it might take some trial and error work to figure any of it out. If you do that, I suggest writing it out as you go for easier editing purposes and if you decide to make more than 1 of the same thing, then you have the pattern in front of you already and don't need to trial and error it again. And try to avoided cutting any yarn unless you absolutely need to in case something doesn't work out, you still have all the yarn intact to use to try again or for something else. And if you have any questions or are confused by anything I've said, then I'm more than happy to try and clarify anything. (Sorry I wrote so much! I just have years of experience doing things like this and have a lot to say about it 😅) Happy creating!

Why are we chaining one?? And does it count as a stitch??
@orkothegr8t265
@orkothegr8t265 Месяц назад
The chain one you are talking about, is it the one done after creating the magic circle/ring? If that's the one, then there are a couple reasons. It locks the magic circle in place so it doesn't come undone on you when you try to crochet into it, or not work properly later when you pull the tail to close it, and before that chain you have part of the circle on your hook, which is loose yarn, and it makes it difficult to work into the circle because of tension reasons as well. So the chain helps prevent those issues from being issues. And it further helps by raising your hook up to height needed for the stitches you are planning on doing (depending on the stitch, you might need multiple chains, and in some cases that chain one doesn't count as a chain for that, it's solely for locking the circle in place. In this case it's for locking the circle and raising the hook). And lastly the important thing to note is that chain one is not counted as a stitch in anything I have ever come across. Usually if chains count as a stitch, it's like a chain three in replace of a double crochet stitch or something along those lines. Chain ones are not usually counted as a stitch by themselves. If there is a different chain one you're referring to, then it's possibly just to raise the hook to the correct height for the stitches, but still wouldn't count as a stitch by itself. Hopefully this answers your questions!
