I used #4 worsted weight, I Love This yarn. With an I 5.5mm hook. I chained 66. 3rd ch from hook 64 hdc. Ch2 at every row which doesn't count as a stitch. A lot of patterns for these head bands use bulky or sport weight. Fits my 21.5 inch head. Just thought I'd share.😊
I used a fine yarn with the 3.00 hook. So I assume the foundation chain is more than 65, and all I need to do is just make it to fit the head circumference right? But size it down 1 inch? :D
Love, love, love! I've only been crocheting for 3 months, and this video is perfect. Made one headband, and immediately went on to make more. I have a huge noggin, so your method of going by actual head measurement worked great. All of my big-headed relatives are getting one of these for Christmas! Thank you!
I looooooove this video! I made my first twisted ear warmer and I love it so much. Great project for beginners. (I just started crocheting 3 weeks ago). thank you!
Really easy to follow, thank you for this tutorial! I have a little head so I used 9 rows instead of 11. I might even try a little smaller or use a less bulky yarn next time for more of a hairband vs. ear warmers (doesn’t get as cold in LA haha)
Thank you for this great video! I’ve only been crocheting for about 3 months and I was able to follow this video and successfully made a headband on my first try! Now I can’t stop making them 😂
Hey, can u please tell me in inches what is the width of the headband? You told about the length that it should be less than 1” of head circumference which is 21” in the video, thanks
Omg excellent job beautiful gorgeous awesome color !!! Thank you for taking your valuable time to teach how to do this beautiful headband in crochet 🧶 beautiful!!!!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Bravooo
Hi Brittany, I made this lovely headband for my son's girlfriend for Christmas with many compliments. I was requested to make two more so I headed back to your site, but my phone and my computer will not pull up the sizing chart. It just says [table id=3/] in that spot on the blog post. Could you help?
Hi Chelsea! Thank you for letting me know ! I've fixed the sizing chart table. You can see the updated post live here: justbcrafty.com/2019/12/crochet-twisted-ear-warmer-headband.html
Where is the description. I just need the supply list. This description thing is just confusing. A few more words and you could just say yarn weight and hook size.
Hmm... I think I would pull it out and start over. Remember to make a foundation chain that's about an inch less than the full circumference of you head. I hope this helps!
I'm currently using HDC for my first-ever scarf & loving it. So I will DEFINITELY try this! I'd love to make some for Christmas, I'll just need to find a non-twisted version for the men. Thank you! Saved the video for when I'm ready!
Hi Dawn! If having troubles, try slowing down the playback speed (below are instructions on how to do so.) If you watch it a few times and try to do it along with me, I promise you will get it! **If on tablet or mobile device: tap on video, tap on the "gear" icon and adjust "playback speed" accordingly **If on desktop/laptop computer: hover mouse over video and click on the "gear" icon and select "playback speed" and adjust accordingly.
That's ok! the great thing about this project is that gauge isn't super important. Just crochet enough rows until you measure about 5.5 inches - whether its more or less than 13 rows, thats ok! Also, make sure your starting foundation is about an inch less than the head circumference measurement. This pattern is less about stitch and row counts, but the measurements of your crocheted rectangle. Hope this helps!
I just love your videos! Funny story. I was at price chopper last week, there was a girl there that sounded and looked like you 😂 I almost asked her if her name was Brittany.
Hmm... depending on the direction your circle is forming it may be that your foundation chain is a bit tight and your crochet stitches are a bit loose. Or it could be possible that you’ve added a couple stitches over the course of your rows, or it may be a combo of the two. Try loosening up your foundation chain a bit, you may find it helpful to size up your hook for the foundation chain and size down when you start crocheting the rows. Also you may want to count your stitches each row to make sure your maintaining the same number. Hope this helps!❤️
HI Ashley! It sounds like you might be twisting the side of the head band you are rotating too much. When you go to join the head band, you really aren't so much twisting one side but rotating it downwards, if that makes sense. I suggest re-watching the video a couple of times. You'll get it!
Hi Yoely! You'll want to make a foundation chain thats about an inch less than the head measurement. If you are unable to measure the little one's head, here is a really great head sizing chart from the Crafty Yarn Council: www.craftyarncouncil.com/standards/head-circumference-chart
You could just do a rectangle the length of the tip of your fingers to your wrist all in hdc and then sew the side leaving a hole for the thumb and sew the top part for the fingers. Then hdc in the round for the thumb
Hi Shaelyne! You’ll want to make a foundation chain that’s an inch less than the head measurement. If you prefer a snugger fit, you can make it even 2 inches smaller than the head measurement. You can always play with it and wrap it around your head as you go and see if you like the fit and if not, pull it out and try again! Also, check the description box which links to written pattern for more information on common head sizes, gauge info and customization instructions. ❤️
