I’ve made several of these fish for grandchildren and they love them. But I got tired of weaving in all those ends so I started slipstitching to the other end to start the second part of the tail. It came out great and I was left with only one tail to weave in!

Is a polyester yarn required for this type of project? I was wondering if an acrylic yarn would be as absorbent. Cotton would absorb the water but maybe wouldn't be as soft?
