Learn how to crochet the X Marks the Spot Granny Square in this tutorial video. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. In this video I show how to make a granny square that has both traditional elements with a modern twist. With this square, I'm using two colors and carrying the yarn upwards for each round. This helps prevent the loose ends in the back. I'm using a G 4 mm crochet hook and worsted weight yarn.

I really like this. I will not do Granny Squares because of the ends you have to sew . I loved the colorful effects but my work always looked HOMEMADE not handmade . Thank you so much for sharing .

I love this pattern and the challenge of changing colors! I noticed in the written pattern that it doesn't include the color changes. I will have to play the video again to figure that out. But I'm looking to make this into a bedspread for my guest room. I've already picked out my colors!!

It's beautiful, but you never showed the back of the piece when you were done. I am concerned that it has all that traveling yarn that is visible to the eye.

That's because I already show the back of the piece in the beginning of the video - beginning at 0:07. If you are careful, you can hide the strands as shown in the technique beginning at 3:25.
