Fun fact: some theorize that the origins of jackalopes can actually be traced to explorers seeing wild rabbits infected by cordyceps! The rabbits infected get these nasty black fungal growths on their face and body, so it’s likely that early explorers saw that and interpreted it as horns. Interesting stuff! Also, all the creations look amazing! Amazing work!

As someone from WV I can say you did a great job on a stylized version of Mothman. Some of the designs you had come up with for him are very reminiscent of the version that Bethesda did for Mothman in the video game Fallout 76. Really, really a great job on all 3 of the cryptids.

I know this video is 6 months old, but that's just how much I love this lil mothman!!! I think, since he's a cryptid, pretty much any interpretation is valid (and I've definitely seen plenty of similarly moth-y mothmen in the art community)! But he is absolutely adorable :)

If you ever do cryptids again, you should try to do one from up where I live called the Squonk. It's literally a creature so ugly that if you see it, it dies by disintegrating into a puddle of tears. Even though it's meant to be really ugly, I feel like you could make something adorable out of it.

They're all so cuute! I love how mothman and the jackalope came out. The jackalope is one of my favorite cryptids. My other favorites that I would to see you make are the Goatman, the Hodog and the Chuacabra. And of course Nessie and Chessie.

I'm so glad you did the antelope horns on the jackelope! My father described the well when I was young. They are definitely a cross of a jackrabbit and an antelope. People keep making the jackelope body like a cute little cottontail. Cottontails are soft rounded animals, and jackrabbits are a larger, more angular desert rabbit. Antlers on a jackelope are just wrong. There is no deer in a jackelope. They are an antelope cross, which is completely different from deer. As for something wrong with California, you are completely right,lol. I really like watching you design. Thanks.

Fun fact: the myth of the jackalope came from rabbits with HPV. It makes them appear to have antlers/horns. But if you value your sanity I wouldn’t look it up 😂 fantastic job recreating these! Always impressed by your talent

Honestly ion cant tell you why, but i was absolutely terrified of the Fresno Might Crawler, even though all my friends kept telling me that “its just goofy alien pants” and stuff like that 😂 the cute lil cheeky version you made definitely helps curb the fear, but i feel like if i saw one in real life i would faint to escape the fear 😂! I also for a long time didnt know jackalopes WERENT real cuz i saw so many taxidermy jackalopes 😂 I was one of the folks asking for mothman and your version is so adorable!!! Honestly its so hard to pick a fav, all of the plushies were so adorable!

Your moth man looks like he belongs to Hollow Knight in some way. Very cute. Most people make him more moth than anything else when crocheted, from what I’ve seen. Also, have you seen Sarah Andersen’s Cryptid Club series? She has a cute take on them as well.

My favorite cryptid is the Flatwoods Monster. The them in Zelda Majora's Mask are based on it. I actually have a poster of it that I happily freaked out about when I saw it.

These are so cool and you are so talented. I can't crochet for the life of me, unfortunately - my sister tried to teach me but it just scrambled my braincells and left hercfeeling quite murderous towards me 😆 I am better with my knowledge of cryptids - Mothman being my favourite. I don't know how deep your fascination with cryptids extends, but there's a brilliantly funny, chaotic yet informative podcast series called The Cryptid Factor that I highly recommend if cryptids are your thing. It's hosted by Kiwi actor and comedian Rhys Darby, who's hugely into cryptozoology (the other two hosts are Rhys' friends fellow Kiwi Leon 'Buttons' Kirkbeck and Aussie Dan Schreiber).

I remember watching an old show called Oddities (that's basically about an unusual antique shop) that a theory behind the jackalope is a genetic mutation/condition that makes extra bits of bone poke out from the skull. But I can't remember what it's called.

I love the cryptids videos. The jackalope was perfect! I liked your take on the Fresno night crawler, but it really was too cute. In the video, it is the stuff of nightmares. How cute these sre, and don't worry about Moth man as I follow Rachel Masky who makes costumes and she dressed up as moth man only last week, and it had wings and light up eyes....which were cool. My favourite of your was the rabbit /deer one though. Love your imagination ❤ Have you every made a Scottish Haggis, deepening on who you talk to they are all different, so would love to see which version you picked to do, fluffy 4 legged creature that can only run around mountains in circles because they have two short legs on one side, to the other 2 being longer, or the wooly, no eyes, orange hair on head and wearing a Scottish shamy(like a tartan beary).

Yeeeess the Fresno Nightcrawler!!! I love this goofy little guy!! I also feel a weird connection to it too because I actually grew up in Yosemite so it's like, thats MY cryptid. I also lived in Fresno for a bit too. I still kinda live in the general area of the park, and we're like, a tourist town so we have a ton of yosemite merch. Weirdly all of the cryptid style merch here is all of Bigfoot which is... not Californian. Why not embrace the silly pants people? I love them!
