Hail Crom!! I’ve had it for about 15 years. Just haven’t used it for a video here yet, but I might keep it out for a few more. Super comfortable and fun guitar.

Fantastic episode, as always! I absolutely adore Caroline Guitar Company… I have the Somersault and the Wave Cannon MkII, and use them both all the time. I’ve had my eyes set on the Megabyte, and may now need to add the Crom to my list. Loved seeing some new guitars. How many do you own? Which is your favorite? Thanks for yet more great content.
Same, I picked up their Icarus when they were doing a joint thing with JHS promoting it and was really blown away by it, though my favorite is still the Haymaker. Right now I have 14 guitars, and the G&L ASAT (white tele-style guitar) is probably my favorite. There's a few I should probably sell, but by the time I get them cleaned up, photographed, and listed, usually the last thing I want to do is deal with the general buying public.
video was great like always and I'd say your about spot on with your description of the crom sounds like a jumbo tonebender there three transistor take on the big muff not to be confused with other ones that are just mark 3 or fours named the same solasound got pretty confusing with there naming of fuzz pedals but thanks for also reminding me to open up my pedals and tinker with the bias so I can turn a few fuzzes that sound too much alike into different beasts hell maybe duct taping aluminum foil over the bulb and sensors on my univibe might even work it's supposed to be like a reflective cave or something that makes the light and dark more extreme but who knows might just jack the whole thing up but I definitely want to get ehx good vibes from your video mainly cause it's the only one around with expression control if you have a Keeley dynatrem could you do a video on it so far it seems like the next pedal I want but none of the demos show if one of the waveforms will make it sound like a eqd hummingbird with the depth up if I can find a pedal that does both harmonic tremolo and that percussive tremolo I'm totally in.it would save me having to buy two different pedals
I kind of look at transistor fuzzes like craft beers. I can appreciate the work that goes into crafting them, I think some of the science behind them is interesting, but at the end of the day it has to sound/taste good. I think this one delivers the thick stuff without being noisy and nasal. There's definitely something to the crafting of the photocell box, I think a disco ball in the middle of a univibe lightbox would be fun.
Very cool video! I saw you had that white gibson explorer and thought you were a metal guy bc James Hetfield obviously played one but then I saw your muff video and you said you weren’t very much of one. What attracted you to the explorer if I may ask?
Certainly! I actually really do enjoy Metallica, and I think James is an absolute monster when it comes to rhythm. His dynamics and precision are just scary on-point, and I think it goes unnoticed because it's hard to imagine a lot of those songs without his delivery. But that's not why I got the Explorer. I bought myself a Les Paul back when I was playing in a moderately-successful cover band. At the time, I was playing an Agile LP clone, and it was fine, but I thought the Gibson would be an upgrade. Well, I got a Les Paul Studio and hated it. Just absolutely terrible fit and finish, and it resonated like a damp sponge. I sold it, and took the proceeds to a local music store and to my surprise, I didn't like any of their Les Pauls either, for a mix of other reasons. Was on my way out and the store owner was like "Just for fun, try the Explorer". I did and was amazed at how comfortable it was, and how it put the neck right where I wanted it. The giant fin on the back helps balance the body out so it doesn't neck-dive, and it was just really fun to play, and people LOVED seeing it at shows. It's just a super-versatile guitar, and I'd keep it out at my desk for more videos except it's kind of cramped back there and I know I'd smack the fin into the wall or something.
@@StompboxBreakdown Man you’re making me want one! I already have a cream flying v and other guitars I’ll have to consider the explorer. I actually really like the puresalem cherry bomb explorer type. I would like to find a heavy explorer I really only like heavy guitars and I don’t think explorers get that heavy like flying vs.
it's a great thing that the appreciation of music, and perception of reality in general, is relative. i, for one, could clearly hear the Lamentation of Conan's recently fallen foes in the overtones present. of course, your mileage may vary.
When I was playing in a modern hard rock cover band, we had a bass player who always wore a knit cap, even in the summer. He left and we auditioned a new bass player who showed up with, and played, wearing a knit cap. It was then that I decided all bass players wear knit caps, so this so my little nod to that very inside joke. It also makes it easier to sort video footage afterwards.
