I came from the other direction. I love poetry, and between that and reaction videos that delve into the meaning & context of his lyrics, I've learned to appreciate rap more.
I am a 73 year old Australian and its because of Eminem that I got exposed to rap and I love it black or white don't matter to me talent is thank you for this post love and peace.
I came across "the monster" by em when i was 15, from there i started to listen to his other tracks and then other artists and now my playlists are 100% rap musics and i am from Indonesia, he really brought me into this genre and i am glad because of it.
Let me tell you something, as someone who lives in the Middle East, I can GUARANTEE you that we would not have known about the existence of rap without Eminem. The first rap song I ever heard was “The Real Slim Shady”. How dare they say that their precious hip hop would not be affected without Eminem? He literally put rappers on the world map, they barely even existed without him. These rappers are being RACIST, plain and simple, it’s pathetic.
@@RTucky I totally agree with you. It's just a shame to hear this much bias even from people who should know & do better. I'm Nigerian & from a very young age, I have been listening to rap & hip hop. But the first time I heard "kill you" by Eminem, I got hooked & he has been my favourite rapper ever since. I can't count the number of my peeps who started listening to rap after they heard me listening to Em. And certain people are going to come with this agenda & try to make Em ordinary? It's a big shame. What's more shameful is that some of these people complain about racism & being oppressed all the time, that they don't even realise when they are doing some racist s**t (or may be they do...)
In Sweden at Eminem concert was 60.000 people he broked the record in Sweden and it was even the prime minister of Sweden to see Eminem . In Denmark at Roskilde festival the tickets for Eminem was sold in a few minutes. The world loves Eminem ❤️👏🤗 We love him and respect him so much here in Europe. ❤️👏🤗
I'm from the netherlands, watched him live twice. When his second cd came out and i saw dutch money and pictures of amsterdam on the album i was so hyped. Eminem is incredible, everybody was hyped beyond hype when he first came out.
I am from a little ol state in the USA called Rhode Island and we all have love and mad respect for Em and those who don't just hate him because they ain't him point blank period.
When I was studying English Lit my poetry professor used to use Eminem's lyrics when talking about how to use the syllables/rhymes to form perfect flow in the stanzas
I remember when Stevie was reacting to No Regrets, and he was like "ppl are talking bad about Eminem? Really? What could they be saying?" etc. We've come a long way since then, lol
I'm in jamaica and I remember when i was in high school years ago my English teacher use to use some of em lyrics to show us how to use metaphors, syllables etc so outside of rap he has plenty of influence also i swear we don't give em his credit I'm so disappointed in royce I wouldn't have known about him if it wasn't for Em
Same I got introduced to Royce because of the track called *Bad Meets Evil on The Slim Shady LP.* So I was also disappointed in Royce in what he said about Em because Em has always talked positive about Royce and constantly puts him on his albums and brings him out on his concerts to help his friend get more noticed in world. So it’s just sad that Em keeps getting backstabbed from people who are supposed to be family. Also I bet when Eminem finally passes away we gonna see a lot of fake love for him which is so fucked up that they can’t just give the man his credit now when he is alive to see it.
Eminem has influenced singers: Ed sheeran, Usher etc. He has influenced new gen rappers: 42dugg, juice wrld, XXX etc, he influenced past gen rappers: Kdot, Cole, Tyler, Earl, NF, Hopsin etc, he even has had some of the most impactful songs in hip hop: Stan, lose yourself, he even has had someone like Jay z recite his lyrics in his own songs (Succes) bro his impact is crazy fam like its all mad
Eminem is the Bruce Lee of Rap. "They" did not like Bruce teaching other races about Martial Arts.. same with Marshall Mathers, "they" don't like him teaching people about Hip-hop.. I say " hey Marshall 👋 teach "Marshall" Arts to this Hip-hop industry *Goat=Marshall Artist* you dig👍
I gain more respect to you for saying Eminem isn’t your favorite rapper and understanding how good he really is and understanding nobody can match his pen game or lyrics. Or how easily it is for him to write at a masterclass lvl constantly
*Also what’s funny Stevie is when people on Twitter say black people don’t listen to Eminem but Eminem this Year is in 3rd place in Top 20 most streamed artist in Africa.*
What I really like about Crooks video is that it is clear he’s not just saying these things because off loyalty to Em. He’s also saying is because he LOVES hip hop and doesn’t want it’s history erased/forgotten/rewritten.
As someone not being from the US, Eminem's influence on rap internationally is the main reason I like and appreciate hip hop, and not to mention countless talented rappers that i would've no idea about being someone who were not born with rap music if not for Eminem. Kendrick, Cole, Young MA, Drake, Wayne, Royce.. the list goes on
Eminem is most definitely the first rapper I ever started listening to. I remember being like 7 years old sneaking my CD player in my catholic school uniform listening to “without me” while my class was walking to the park lol. People not giving him the respect he deserves are just mad that he’s at the top.
Laur R How are people not giving Eminem his respect when people have said that Eminem is one of the greatest m.c.s & lyricists in hip hop, is in the top 10 & the top 5 conversation in hip hop, is consider the goat by many. Many Caucasians & Eminem fans/ Eminem stans just want others to kiss his ass for him being a white boy who is great at rapping.
He has fans in whole world! ...I still hear his music when we go out in disco, cafe bars, cars, etc. He brought Hip-Hop to us in Europe.. we knew about Pac too but Eminem moved masses, not only fews, made white kids dress, act as black,in Europe! Can you believe it? We had first local rappers who wouldn't exist without him..We would loose a lot without Em.
Honestly bro, I want em to make one type of unique lyrical album that’ll have even his haters praising him. I want him to flex so much on that album and show them it’s that easy for him.
He had an interview a long time ago thanking the media so that he has something to write about. As long as there are haters he’ll continue to prove them wrong
Eminem was my first introduction to hip hop there was no shame in bumping em back in the day crook is right ever since they started this agenda to push eminem out the culture is just dumb it’s divisive as fuck and they falling for it there is no black and white we all humans all one fucking race people act like other races are aliens or some shit smh
Definitely. And what I really really love about Stevie is that he's honest, respectful, critical, appreciative and can happily give roses and complaints in equal measure, all while freely stating that he's NOT an Em fan....he doesn't listen to his music irl and he's not in his favourite playlists......yet that doesn't matter a FUCK because real still recognise real, and Stevie's a student of the game who can recognise and respect those worthy of it, OUTSIDE his own biases. That's why he's my fav. I think that ability is so freaking dope and makes me respect Stevie 10 times more. It means he's honest and real....which makes it all mean so much more. His respect for Eminem just continues to grow, and he's at the point where he'll go to bat for someone he doesn't even listen to recreationally, purely for the fact that the hating on him is OBJECTIVELY dumb. I wish more people were like Stevie.
One of the biggest things about this whole topic that blows my mind is that Em has been not only one of the LEAST controversial people *to* hip hop, he's very clearly one of hip hops greatest allies. He lives and breathes hip hop. He loves and respects and hip hop, its forefathers, guardians, and youngbloods SO MUCH. He's never betrayed hip hop. If it was hip hop against the world, Em would be on the front lines covered in blood. There is NO REASON to ever even question whether Eminem belongs. Anyone questioning whether he belongs in hip hop is either a traitor to hip hop or a racist. Period.
I mean em has gone true alot of controversy especially when I was younger people protesting him and trying to get him banned and the whole benzino thing but your other point is so true that its crazy mtbmb on every song he shouted out a old school rapper he made a whole album to help show people how bad muble rap is to change how people go about it and so much more eminem is probably raps greatest person since he does so much to show how he loves it and just for people to hate for race and pets be honest that all it is kinda annoying
Eminem gets all the love from South Africa.... From Famous artists, from regular hip hop fans (BLACK PEOPLE IN SOUTH AFRICA LOVES AND LISTEN TO EMINEM!!! HE'S IN MY TOP 5 OF ALL TIMES!!! I got into Hip Hop through HIM, I WAS BORN IN 1993!!
"But in this industry I'm the cause of a lot of envy So when I'm not put on this list the shit does not offend me That's why you see me walk around like nothing's bothering me Even though half you people got a fuckin' problem with me You hate it but you know respect you've got to give me"
Growing up in Europe there was no one bigger than Em I was a fan of his music but only now I understand what is he saying because back then everything was going over my head I was too young to understand. I respect and appreciate him even more now.
It IS appreciated globally. The only losers whining about him are jealous cry babies cuz they ain't shit -their opinions shouldn't matter. I'm scared they're not just tryna push him out the culture - they're plotting to pull off a Marylin Monroe/Kurt Cobain scheme & make it look like he relapsed and OD'd. U know it would make sense with him bein around Snoop, and Snoop would act all remorseful blaming himself which would make him seem innocent & the evil would all get blamed on the terrible disease of addiction.
Yep I'm from South Africa Nad I grew up listening to EM and Wayne... Those are the guys that got me into hip hop. To this day, I still listen to them. He's probably the most famous rapper in my country
Dre and Em brought hip hop to billions of people that never would’ve heard it, they put a stopper in the door and then everyone could hear what was going on in the hip hop world. They really changed everything. For real without them I wouldn’t even be watching this video right now, I’d still just listen to punk and hardcore but when they got together we all had to stop and listen because that was special, one of kind collaboration.
Em been so mad at Diddy for what he did to hip hop. Him and his BS “Making The Band” corporate bullshit. He’s been jabbin at Diddy for a hot minute. This is ABSOLUTELY Diddy based.
I'm surprised people aren't talking about this more. I am absolutely certain Diddy is behind all this. Not only the Revold, Breakfast club, MGK, Budden etc shit, but also the 'come to us Nick Canon, we don't think you're racist' bullshit. Diddy is racist. No one will say it, but it is what it is.
Truth, people who diss his fans calling them stans wouldn't know wtf to say...maybe if they realized they are using a word influenced by eminem they would stop the nonsense 🤔
Stevie, watching your admiration grow for Eminem and you're appreciation for his writing has been amazing thank you for standing up for him. He is also suffering because of our history of racism in this country all he wants is to be accepted in the rap game and he wants to be respected I really hope he gets that.
I won't lie, I'm from SA and Em is the reason I started loving hip hop, no lie, then I went back to the origins and discovered your PAcs and Biggies, if it wasn't for Em I probably wouldn't have
Crooked is so on point. I was a teenager when Eminem came out, and I was attending a predominantly white high school. The year Em dropped had everyone, including myself, listening to him and created a connection between me and my peers that transcended any color divide that might have existed. They started listening to all types of hip hop too as a result. That was a special time to live through musically as well as socially.
if we never had eminem i would never known rap at all i would of never knew 50 cent dre NWA if it wasnt for eminem popping in my life to know what rap is and most mumble rappers people listen to wouldnt be as famous eminem saved my life so ill always stick up for eminem
Spoke some true words here, must be some other people who feel like this. Eminem was just a big part of the 90 kids and 20s. Eminem always bringing up new artists and singers. No doubt he was a big factor in hiphop in the last 30 years.
Let me tell you something, as someone who lives in the Middle East, I can GUARANTEE you that we would not have known about the existence of rap without Eminem. The first rap song I ever heard was “The Real Slim Shady”. How dare they say that their precious hip hop would not be affected without Eminem? TurtleTeaParty I’ve known Eminem since i was 12 roughly as i use to hear him on radio and i was like this music use to be sick now i listen to him everyday
R. Tucky Eminem changed rap big time as his real slim shady song changed how music isn’t just being a gangsta and shooting everyone sadly we still have it now but Eminem shows bullets can be words and can hurt someone feelings or can rip ur feelings apart in a good way if u relate
facts, and most likely inspired all the white rappers that came after him, before Eminem the concept of a white rapper was a joke, ppl still thought of Vanilla Ice when the idea of a white rapper was brought up
Seeing a man of Crook's talent give credit where credit is due is a amazing thing , and lets not get it twisted Crook's splits 🔥 every time he opens his mouth. Shout out to him and Em and my man who made this video , Though Em wasn't the reason I got into hip-hop he definitely is the GOAT hands down .
I can’t believe how many mtha fuxas is missing the fact that Em single handily saved the music industry not just rap in the early 2000s when it was going through it’s digital transition
Its crazy all these people saying that if eminems music just never existed it wouldnt have effected hip-hop. I bet those people who say that are people whos fav rappers are kendrick, jcole, hopsin, mac miller, ect. And all those rappers have said that eminem is one of their fav rappers and had a lot of influence on them.
It's more like they don't understand. Unfortunately a lot of people aren't smart enough to understand. I hate to pull that card, but they don't. and it's easy as that. =/ people are just not knowledgeable and smart enough to be on Em's level...and some people don't want to be.
Bro in india too we came to know these syllables, rhymes, crazy bars, other black legendary artist, hip-hop shit and all the rap legends 2pac , Biggie etc just because of Eminem. His songs, his persona is so influential. I personally loves my idol and em is gem.
I didn't even know who Dr.Dre was until I heard of Eminem. In fact, most people in the middle east would not be into rap at all if not for Eminem, and especially that Eminem signed 50 because 50 spread like wildfire in our area
@@Mo-kl4fb dude . i was in kuwait , bahrain , dubai , lived in cairo . from 94- 97 . people fucked with g funk . u found g funk in airport stores it was the coolest export in pop culture . and it was absorbed everywhere .im saying speak for yourself
Yo, I remember Dre before he met EM...He was somewhat fading after he left Deathrow...people understood he was nice, but he wasn't making hits like he used too. When he signed EM the resurgence came back for DRE. He dropped his own album that sold great and the story goes on...I remember all of that stuff as an oldhead...the problem is that it's now it's okay to disrespect white people now...That's why all of a sudden people are taking shots at EM...
@@billkerr9489 If Em was black, he'd be the next Muhammad Ali." - Rakim..."Eminem is the Kobe Bryant of Hip Hop." - Big Daddy Kane. Even Ice Cube and KRS-1 both praised that man for being the pure lyricist he is...Near half the people Snoop said was better than EM, praised him as one of the best to do it. So no, my statement stands...
"Ask Eminem if he is the Greatest of All Time" ~ KRS-One.. You act like I am saying he is the garbage. Ask any of them if they Put Eminem in the Top 10 of Emcees. Show me where they say he is Top 10.
@@billkerr9489 You said people overrate him. Which people? It sure isn't the rappers that snoop said was better than him now is it? I even gave examples...You on the other hand seem to have a problem with it...(and it comes out in your speech) So yes, my statement stands.
People tend to be judgemental because they want a certain race to be the best at particular sports, music, and it turns into racism. Nothing wrong with Em being one of the greats, he's always giving kudos to the greats before & inspires new artists & will have more to come. Str8 up lyricist with no boundaries, c'mon
I never would have understood how complex the art of rap really was until I saw Eminem and he really broke the ice for me I listen to Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, Fresh Wes, Busta Rhymes, Wu Tang, G-unit, the list goes on and on without Eminem we wouldn't have 50 Cent, D12, Obie Trice and many others by proxy.. not to mention the countless artist today that he inspired, the man is not just a rapper..
With SSLP, MMLP, TES, 8Mile and Lose Yourself Em BLEW rap to a much bigger level in Middle America and globally, so he played a big part in turning the house into a mansion. Add 50/G-Unit and it's even bigger. Em played a big part in creating the non gangster lane Kanye, Drake, Cole etc used. He rapped about doing drugs, not selling, now everyone does. He had a big influence on Emo rap, cuz he wore his heart in his sleeve, talked real time issues, and was very transparent with his life, you see that in everyone now. Em played a part in mainstreaming Battle Rap because of his history and 8 Mile. Many Artist's cite Em as a huge influence and even the person that got them interested in Rap. OK, I'm gonna watch this now, just wanted to say this 1st.
It is interesting that mumble rap is technically an uneducated version of Eminem when most of his songs were about doing drugs, drinking and now they mumble (in every dumbass song) about doing drugs and drinking🤔 So technically all these damn haters saying em is wack cuz we want songs about drugs and drinking are even more retarded 😒
I was and still am heavily into Metal and Rock. If not for Eminem, I would have never ventured into Rap and discovered so many artists and music that I now listen to everyday.
What I love most is that Eminem isn't looking for validation. He doesn't ignore the bullshit, he feeds off of it because he doesn't need anyone to verify his success or his influence. With that being said, the REAL rappers of the past and the present respect him as an artist.
He reached more than that though , usher said there would be no confession album with out eminem because when he heard eminem not afraid to say things it gave him the confidence to just be honest with his own music . Eminem a goat 🐐. He might not be everyone's cup of tea but you can't deny his place as a legend
Crooked is one of the Goats would love to go to Crooked rabbit hole after Hopsin. His discography is massive and brilliant everytime He has hiphop discussions on Twitter everyday. They are inspiring, insightful, educated, and most of all respectful because he leads by example. Go follow him. Thank you for reacting to this.
i love Stevie, but he was a tad off when he said Crooked's pen can't fuck with Em. lol i think he'd def give Em a run for his money. that's a close one to me. :)
That's facts, man. Eminem was the artist that got me into hip hop and rap when I was a kid.. That's how I ended up discovering other artists and really learning a lot more about the genre and culture..
i rarely comment anymore on youtube, but i gotta say I am extremely glad i found your page. I find myself wanting to see what the next video is or what topic you're speaking on. Happy to be here.
Deep respect to both of you gentlemen for speaking these hard truths. I am a rarity being an older white woman who did listen to all music including very early hip hop and rap because in the 60s, 70s, and 80s people didn’t restrict themselves to one genre of music. I have a cat named Grandmaster Flash who along with Kurtis Blow were the first hip hop artists I heard BECAUSE hip hop was accepted in the disco world. Those guys WERE popular in white culture because of the dance aspect of hip hop. Then rap battling became more well known and of course the white world didn’t understand that...even those of us who were dirt poor. Cypress Hill was about the only group that became popular with some white people until Run DMC and LL Cool J who were popular with a lot of whites. Honestly, in the world I lived in we didn’t feel a connection to the gang rap battle aspect of hip hop/rap until N.W.A. blew it all up with Straight Outta Compton. BTW? Beastie Boys did help white rap fans keep the racist idiotic haters away when we were drooling over NWA. lol And even though the music industry tried very hard to squash hip hop and rap? There was no going back after Beastie Boys and NWA. You think I don’t snicker at the delicious irony when I watch Ice-T Mister “Cop Killer” play Det. Tutuola on Law & Order Special Victims? We had Vanilla Ice and honestly I thought he was ok, but it was like he did a pop/rap fusion that was like the bubblegum music I listened to when I was a young girl. Just music to dance to with some very catchy phrases, but it wasn’t substance. Then rap rolled mainstream. Like for real people were buying it even though the music industry snubbed it. Kid Rock was more popular than Em for awhile which is the biggest joke when I think about how that shit has gone down over the years. But Em came out dirt poor, self-deprecating, unsure, but talented beyond measure. For years I tried not to think of him as the greatest I had ever heard because I admit it felt wrong saying that about a scrawny white kid when I knew that rap was Black and how very important that was to Black culture and music created by Black musicians and entertainers. But Em always seemed so reverent with every delivery. And who am I to deny Em if Dr. Dre says it’s cool? Lyrically? I just don’t see many past or present who have dropped many bars that can compare with the overwhelming list of Eminem lines that are literally part of our language. Sorry for this tl;dr post, but I can’t sleep because of this division. I LOVE Snoop! From Gin & Juice to watching him cook & cuddle with Martha Stewart--Snoop does remember that young Black teenagers might be looking to Em for lyrical inspiration, but old, bitchy white ladies like me wanna see him in pajamas cooking breakfast with Martha so it all evens out....right? This whole thing hurts. How do we stop the “cancellation” of Eminem without damaging our love for Snoop? We have enough REAL hatred and division without creating division and hate where it doesn’t really exist. In the one million years (lol--it’s late and I exaggerate, but I’m bitchy and tired) I have been a fan of hip hop and rap I don’t think I have ever heard anyone say they loved Snoop, but hated Em or vice versatility. These are two of the more “acceptable” rappers on the planet. They are both legendary and I want to know if anyone has any ideas on how we can de-escalate this? It hurts. It feels wrong.
I am a big fan of NF and he even gives Eminem his props and there would not be a him without Eminem. He is an inspiration to a lot of artist today. I love your channel.
As a youth Eminem opened me up to continuing my interest in hip hop. He was that dude could make you laugh and gasp at the way he could word his thoughts and poke your own imagination as you listen to his music. Didn't even matter what he was saying it was just very genius the way he made simple thoughts, feelings situations w/e they were unique. THE DUDES SPECIAL. Skin color, don't matter this dude has a fire pen and narrow focus that produces, music for the ages. The End.
Facts! There's no comparison! When it comes to lyricism, Eminem stands alone at the top. I've listened to most of his catalog and I'm still catching bars that I didn't catch 20 years ago! It's amazing how much new bars I catch in all of his songs! So many double and triple entendres. So many different meanings to the same words. The way he's twists those words. The way he rhymes so many syllables on the same line. The incredible story telling without losing the integrity of his rhyming skills . The way he can tell a story and make you feel the emotion he is feeling while telling it. His powerful cadence. The way he can make you laugh at one thing and cry in the next. He's incredible. Eminem really got me listening to NWA, Snoop, Tupac, Biggie, Rakim, Redman, Lil Wayne, Royce, Nas, Big Daddy Kane, Kendrick etc.. Taking Eminem's existence out of hip hop, out of the culture would be like taking Michael Jordan's existence out of Sports.
Straight facts! 🔥 I'm from the Caribbean and it was Eminem that introduced me to Hip Hop in 1999 when "My Name Is" dropped. I've been riding with Shady ever since and I'm 32 now. Thanks to Em and my new love for Hip Hop, I started listening to other artists and Hip Hop/Rap became my favorite genre.
No matter how much they try to push this narrative, they can't change Em's legacy. It's unfortunate that we always have to go down this "race" route, but I strongly believe that if Em was black, there's no way a lot of these guys would be spewing the trash they are doing...
Kxng Crooked is a phenomenal lyricist and knows his sh¡t. One of my favorites from him is his part in the South Paw remix of Beast by Rob Bailey and The Hustle Standard. That way he put that all together, he out shined Busta and Tech, and I love them both as well. When you have that caliber of talent coming to bat for you you know people are reaching for drama. I like Em but more importantly I respect his talent even if some of his stuff isn't my cup of tea.
rap reactors really DID help me 'get' Eminem and how good he is, after a while you learn to listen and break a bit down yourself, but MAN I'm not even sure I would have started listening to rap if it weren't for the reactors breaking down Eminem which in turn made me an Eminem fan and then a rap fan.
That's real talk. Em was the first rap album I ever sat down and listened to at 14. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't know hip hop history. Em made me go back and listen to the MC's he said he was influenced by, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Treach, Mobb Deep, Big, Pac, Tribe, Pharcyde, Outkast, Jadakiss, Kurupt, Raz Kaz, NWA, Cube. I would've never knew Royce, Yela, and Kxng Crooked were dope AF. Em is a student of the game, and he stays teaching his listeners who influenced him. His pen game, his diction, his flow, his cadences, his story telling, his imagery, his complex schemes, syllables, double, triple, quadruple, entendres, homonyms, unmatched. He's my favorite rapper. I love K.Dot, Cole, mighty mos def, common, talib, etc. I go and listen to Jay and Nas and I love them and what their story is, but I always gravitate back toward Em because I relate to his struggle, sonically, content wise. Ultimately, your favorite artist comes down to your taste and what you relate to, but to say Em is not an MC or does a disservice to true Hip Hop, means you're not listening. He's a student of the game.
I liked hip hop in the 90s, but when Eminem exploded on the game, I started to really get into the genre. I still love rock music but I also love hip hop because of Eminem
It's one thing to have a big fan base and had the hardware to back it up and it's another thing to have the pain but he has both the pain and the hardware that's what makes him the goat in my eyes
@@billkerr9489 eminem really be in his own lane with words...the rhyme schemes the twisting the flipping the entendres the speed..eminem has 11 guiness world book reckrds
Kingz On Tha Beat I don’t care if he raps fast. So are you saying no-one else can Rap fast? No one else use double triple entendres? No one else can twist syllables? If you believe that than you don’t know Hip Hop.
THANK YOU BOTH for using your platform for the right cause! i remeber when i was kid, and eminem came to sweden, i got hooked first thing, got his album and fell in love with that culture just as fast, it didn't take long untill i had like 10 black rappers i listened to, but just 1 white one... x) i was just glad i got to hear this dope music, rap is big AF in sweden as well.. i know my sister and many friends that got in to that same way as well.. Em and Crook have always keept it real to the game, i luv them both! great video, keep it up!
Been a Eminem fan from day one. I can remember hearing “Hi my name is” on the radio as a teenager. Em has introduced me to many many other rappers since. Marshall made me listen to rap with interest, he made me a fan of rap. If it wasn’t for Eminem I wouldn’t know Crook and his lyrical family. COB. 🏴🇬🇧
I was in high school when "My name is.." came out and the moment I heard that song on TRL I instantly became a Stan. I would rather listen to Eminem than 80% of rappers out there and I am a Nigerian.
I guarantee that Eminem has more fans in Nigeria than any other hip hop artist. The First Em song I listened to was "Kill you"...MMLP just came out back then... I was in JSS3 or SS1... And that was it... He became my favourite rapper up till date. And I have been listening to rap even before i heard Em. It's just laughable seeing this narrative being propagated
You and me both it was different from what was out there at that age I couldn’t relate to selling drugs and killing people or whatever the mainstream was pushing before em pac was my favorite rapper.
Reactors like yourself are basically like eminem's digestive system as this point, you take his work and break it down so alot of people who aren't as bar conscious can understand and and process it
I'm from trinidad a small ass island wayyyy down in the caribbean and im black a muthafucka, eminem's music helped me tru alot of my depression and there was shit i could have relatd to and some i couldn't. I can admire his dedication to perfecting his craft, his mentality can be applied to other areas of life cuz his work ethic is freaking insane. I use that as a motivation to move forward in my own field of software engineering cuz the shit kicks my ass sometimes and i lose motivation.

I dont care what these fools be saying but Eminem is one of us & i dont give a fucc biut race or skin colour or any of dat unnecessary bullshit & hes a legend & i rank him up there with Pac, Biggie, Big Pun, Big l, Redman & Ice cube n dem niggas & i guarantee you if he dies now, all these haters gonna be saying hes a legend n all dat. Man we all know Eminem will never be taken of the culture. He is part of it period all the greats before him says he is one of the best to ever do it so why even worry about em ain’t going no where.
This is 100% accurate!!Eminem introduced me (polynesian gal) into Hip Hop... If it wasn't for him I wouldn't discover other famous rappers that were already famous waayy before him!
@miss knight I’m a 36 year old man from Scotland 🏴 n a love your boys podcast station his message is always positive n a only follow him and another podcaster but yo boy has so much knowledge talking about bars etc so to me if it weren’t for him a wouldn’t rate Eminem as big as a understand now lol am 2PAC fan but tell your boy he’s doing good n us Knight nation followers love him n to keep doing his thang lol tk care miss knight 🫱🏻🫲🏾🇺🇸🏴✌🏻❤️💯
I earned my degree in English and creative writing and I work as a full-time writer/editor. I also learned music theory and composition. Eminem has an unparalleled ability with words. His content may not be of interest to some fans or perhaps some of the beats are not a fan's particular style, but how he writes is beyond what most rappers - pretty much any rapper can do. Crook is amazing himself, so is Royce. I'd still say none of them are in the same league as far as writing. Eminem's flow styles are also sick as hell. He is diverse in his ability to switch up flows and cadence. My boyfriend is a drummer, Eminem actually can match certain drum patterns and styles while he rhymes. It's amazing.
STEVIE!!! thank you for all you do. For what it is worth, you are the best reaction channel. You are the only channel that actually listens to the song all the way through and never miss a word of a song. That is real. I appreciate it.
I started listen to hip hop because eminem.. I heard once in radio (lose yourself)....since then i started to have interest in hip hop music.....now i listen ONLY hip hop.... peace from Romania 🇷🇴 ✌
@@C.P.Brown_ did you even listen to what was being said? Em introduced fans to rap, people heard Em before they heard about Dre, Snoop, Nas, Jay etc... My neighborhood/friends started discovering different rappers because of Em. Those rappers gained new fans, me and most of my neighborhood started buying their music because of Em. Whatchu talking about? Punk!
I am from a humble place in the himalayas, 32 yr old now, i was introduced first to Rap/Hip hop by some kids who came back from the US and brought me a Casette of some group called Ruff ryders, i listened to it found it okay but tossed aside the cassette and threw in some pearl jam, then one day when i was going through a music store i saw a cassette bluish and written slim shady, i just bought it somehow, i dont know why, i was into rock n roll through and through, but when i put it on in my sony walkman, bro, i swear i was hooked, i bought every single album after that and then one day i bought one of 50 too and loved it. 30 years later i can safely say, all those times i literally tried to write his lyrics while he was rapping, it was such a struggle, i now realise that eminem's message is global and most of black american message is local, hardly any message besides jow they struggled in thier buildings and life, in their own way with local references, which the rest of us dont know about. We all struggle and suffer thats life but eminem's music kind of wants to lift you up when you're down, its motivating, its funny and fun too, its dark and comical and its very clever writing with all the yriple and quadruple entendres. I listened to hip hop because of eminem and later discovered MCs like mfdoom, ghost face killer, royce da 5'9, big pun, rakim(also one of my favs) Kendrick lamar, scarface, hopsin, and any other hip hop artist i now realise i know because i was lucky to listen to eminem. My friends know eminem even when they never listened to hip hop
As an Army brat that lived in a lot of other countries, my experience is that Em was the FIRST global rap artist. In Turkey, in Japan, in Germany, in England. They didn't know anyone else but they knew Em. It's like when BTS blew up a couple of years ago. People couldn't name another Kpop group, but they knew about BTS.
FACTS! Eminem EXPANDED the monopoly of Hip Hop. Shit I'll even say this, Eminem MADE Hip Hop fun again and made it about lyrics after he dropped his Kamikaze Album and he had the WHOLE INDUSTRY listen from, mumble rap, conscious rap, etc. He had them ALL listen, and that TIDAL WAVE has slowly been drowning mumble rap away and it inspired the MCs and Lyricists to make Rap/Hip Hop what it was again.
Rikochet States that was gonna happen anyways in my opinion. He definitely contributed to it with the album but in my opinion he’s contributed to the rise of real hip hop again in other ways than music etc Griselda, inspiring the newest gen of lyrical rappers, and probably a shit load of stuff we don’t even know about. Kamikaze wasn’t really as influential as the other stuff Eminem does outside of him actually rapping. If anything his freestyles did more and people reacting to his old shit on RU-vid and exposing even more people to him >> kamikaze
@@morenocarlos9928 reactors started reacting to Eminem's Kamikaze Album and after that they started to reacting to his old stuff. But I'm not talking about reactors I'm talking about the music industry. Every rapper listened to Kamikaze and they posted it on their social platforms and their fans either reacted positive or negative to what Em had to say in Kamikaze.
Rikochet States i see what you mean but I also think it has a lot to do with the culture shifting from the fans perspective, not necessarily the rappers perspective. We all knew that mumble rap was never gonna last, before Em even said anything about it J cole had already addressed it. I know he doesn’t have Em’s fanbase in numbers but the demographic is the same. I just think Em has even more of an impact but it’s not with his actual mysic
@@morenocarlos9928 I hear ya, and its not about Em's "mystic" it's about what he says and how he says it. Plus Eminem is known globally, his music reaches places that other rappers' music haven't reached, yet. Tech N9ne, Logic, Royce, Hopsin, Cole, Reason, and other MCs and Lyricists have talked about death to mumble rap.
Rikochet States meant to say music my bad. And yeah of course his global audience helped, he’s the only rapper that can have that audience because he’s white and he raps better than anyone else in the world. He’s not my favorite rapper, probably not even in my top 5 favorite, but he’s the best rapper and best lyricist ever undeniably
This is such a false claim bro do you really believe this? Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, NWA, Big and Pac, Wu Tang, Jay Z, Nas, Cypress Hill would have done what they could to keep Hip Hop broad and wide. It wouldn’t be one dimension but it definitely wouldn’t have included the world like Em brought to the game
@@morenocarlos9928 When I say one-dimensional I mean having a vast majority of its listeners being a certain demographic. Who listens to country? Mostly white people, some Hispanics in the south, and very few black people. Perhaps one-dimensional isn't the right word, but I couldn't think of another one.
Eman Gamer I see what you mean by that, you didn’t want to explicitly say anything based on race or color. I think hip hop would have always had a mixture of all races listening to it. But before Em it was “taboo” and he definitely amplified the normality and mainstreamness of hip hop to every race of people in the world
Hip hop before Em was essentially the same in regards to what races listened to it. It was a predominately black, with an equal serving of every other race. Now the pie, thanks to Em, has exponentially multiplied in size while white consumers become the biggest demographic when it comes to Em’s music, but black consumers are the biggest consumers when it’s Jay, Nas, Kendrick, Cole, etc.
They hate on Eminem because they know nobody can compete with him on the mic, in studio, on stage, or battle rap, or versus rap. Eminem is over their head.
Saw a clip of charlamagne listing different artists that would "body" Em in a versus battle... I am actually ashamed for them...seeing how their hate beclouds their sense of logic. I'll bet my left nut that the day Em is put in a versus battle with anyone, it'll be the biggest audience they'll get...when it comes to hip hop battles. But like we say in my country... "Agenda must Agend"
@@iykeo.7667 True. All the bullshit talk about Eminem. Nobody will ever bodied him, they're just desperate for attention. I think the corona virus has fxxked up many brains out there.
