The far north of the Kruger National Park and Crook's Corner. The north has an undeserved reputation for being less productive for game viewing, travel with us and we'll show you that it's not true. The northern Kruger Park has not only awesome game viewing, it also has some of the most beautiful scenery in the park and some character filled rest camps, and it's got significantly fewer visitors than the busier south.
On our recent trip, we entered the southern portion of park at Phabeni Gate, near the town of Hazeyview and turned north for the 314km journey to our overnight stop at Shingwedzi Rest Camp ( • Shingwedzi Rest Camp K... ), one of the older camps in the park and one of our favourites. Then it was northwards again the next morning to the far northern corner of the park at Crooks Corner, where South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique meet in the middle of the Limpopo River. It's a spot with loads of history where stories of scoundrels, rebels and bandits abound.
Encounters with irritated elephants, a pair of cheetahs and abundant other game species made this one of my all time favourite trips to the Kruger Park, we were sad to exit 2 days later at the northern Phalaborwa Gate. But we will be back, that's for certain.

I’m Chris, video creator, and lover of road tripping & the great outdoors. Now exploring the off the beaten track, hidden places of Africa, and sharing the adventure in video, photos and words. Kangela is aimed at those who want to experience gravel road travel and off road adventures, but who don’t care as much about the vehicle that gets them there, as they do about the journey itself and the destination.
I try to provide useful tips and background information about the unusual places that we visit, as well as endeavouring to draw attention to conservation, my intention is always to inform, educate and entertain.

That's fantastic Sharon, you are in for a treat, it's my favourite part of the Kruger, and far less busy than the south. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

I'm very, very impressed by your highly skilled, artistic videography. The music background is great. You're apparently an expert drone operator unless those shots are publicly available. I started with Orania because I heard Dr. Roodt who mentioned it in an interview on AmRen. This is quite different from the Loving Life videos which I quit watching because it is so upsetting to hear about the hideous crimes against whites. I'll be watching more as I get the time.

Thank you so much JMW. I wouldn't call myself an expert drone operator, been doing it for a while so I'm reasonably competent. I appreciate your taking the time to comment, and look forward to hearing your thoughts on my other videos.

Hi Natasha, that's very much based on personal preference and what you want from your Kruger trip, I'm not sure that I'm qualified to answer. What I can say is that the southern rest camps are generally busier, and the south has a reputation for better game viewing when it comes to the big predators. That's mainly on account of the thick mopani forests found further north. For us though, the north gets our vote, it's not as busy and has some spectacular scenery, and the game viewing has always been pretty good for us. I really like Letaba Rest Camp, it's centrally located, has excellent facilities and friendly staff.
