I’m in the moving truck now, I am only 14 but I feel very emotional towards this song, my dad and I just listened to it and we were balling our eyes out. I was born and raised there. Reminds me of my grandpa 🙁
Wow, so sad. I really sympathize with folks who work so hard to barely get by, as I've been there most of my life. I hope you guys land on your feet, just remember, there should be better days ahead.
I know the feeling in the pain that you're having I lost my wife in 2016 where to get it's 13 days short 30 years it's hard go to the Lord and He will help you asking the stand with you now is the time we all need to be real strong pictures of rocks and a half and very soon I got but she's mine yours and take care
I was there singing with Kathy Mattea and witnessed CSN warming up in an underground passageway off the green room. It was just them and me. I will never forget it.
One of the most poignant down to home and earth songs ever mastered . It affects each and every one of us and anyone of us could be the recipients of this ballad at any given moment, depending one what some banker or corporation says! I have seen it come to pass too many times to too many hard working good people!
I love this song but I think they dropped my favorite verse...where the couple first came to the place and made love right where the kitchen now is and then made their plans....
They said the album, "American Dream", came out because of the need to fulfill a promise... That is, if Dave Crosby will sober & clean up for the better... Most of them didn't really feel like the album was perfect to merit a tour that Neil Young walked out after completing the album... For me, the album was just perfect... The songs do speak to the hearts of men... "This Old House", "Feel Your Love", American Dream", "Don't Say Goodbye", "Soldiers Of Peace", all of it... I think if they only did tours to promote the album, the album would have achieved greater heights... The elements of the album were a mix of their classic sound with the new... The album was indeed the best precedent for the better-sounded album, "Live It Up!" The band was perfect back then, and so too even now... Each of them just could not see that through... Sadly...
Cap......your missing the point entirely. You need to turn your logical brain off and listen with your heart. It’s beautiful soulful music that is folk-country-acoustic and at the heart of musical tradition in our country. If you’re thinking about the structure of taxation and mortgaging, you need to be quieter inside so you can listen differently. When you’re done with that, you need to quiet your heart and start thinking with your logical brain. Farm Aid was started in ‘85, when the country was moving away from smaller family farms towards larger agri-business and overseas markets. The reality of people losing their family farms was a such a problem, that Neil, John Mellencamp, and Willie Nelson started Farm Aid to bring national attention to the situation. Use your logical brain and do your homework before you disregard the plight of others you clearly know nothing about. Do a better job reading, thinking, and feeling dude.
