I’d like to say on the point of where to buy the gear from. Please please try your local shop. Their survival depends on you. Odds on if you buy from afar you will end up spending more when you take into account the rfd transfer costs or the fuel if you decide to drive. Most shops will be more than happy to order things in for you if they don’t have it in stock. On the topic of the rifle I can’t help feeling Andy was being kind once again and that a few more £’s spent on a Walter rotex rm8 or a gamo gx40 / phox would be money well spent. Especially when you consider the gamos very often come complete as a package with everything included.
Have to agree with the Gamo comment not sure why you'd pay more for this. I'm looking currently and a GX40 package is very near the top of my list alongside the JTS Airacuda Max. Don't think this will be going onto it.
I respect your desire to help out your local RFD as I do think it is a shame to see shops in general close down only to be replaced by big chains. But that greatly depends on the RFD/shop. I once had a local RFD that charged ridiculously high prices, provided a service that was average at the best of times, was a bit too lippy and could never get rid of you quickly enough. When he went under, no tears were shed and it was no loss to anyone. If a shop provides 'Oi, mate' kind of service, I expect to pay 'mate's rates'; if they want to charge full prices then I expect professionalism all around. We are in capitalism and it is survival of the fittest. Provide an excellent service and I'll gladly pay a few extra quid (within reason). Provide bad service & charge high prices and go bust (and rightly so). My current local RFD is great. He may not be super knowledgeable on all airguns but he's passionate, helpful and he is willing to price-match. In this case, I always order through him. Heck, I go down there sometimes just to have a chinwag then get a few tins of pellets while I am at it! One another note, definitely agree on the Gamo PCPs. Never owned one but I've handled a few at the local club - they were all amazingly accurate with the right pellets. Definitely an underrated family of PCPs.
G'morning everyone! 😁 That's not a bad looking gun, seems like it has some features similar to the JTS Airacuda. (The fill port, the guage on the bottom, etc.) And I wouldn't worry too much about those first 2 shots Andy, maybe something as simple as a bad pellet on that first one, all the others were pin-point accuracy! We appreciate your honesty for not editing that out! 👍 Everyone have a great weekend, Pete 🇨🇦
Just a FYI one of the owners of jts is Travis Whitney he basically none for custom Crossman Benjamin builds he also had 2 other companies and most of his products are Crossman/Benjamin marauder rifel redesigns so id imagine there will be lots of similarities 💯👍✌️😉
I'd love an airgun but don't have anywhere to use it, but this gun set to pea-shooter power could be used in my back garden with the option of full power in the future should the opportunity come my way.
Get a co2 pistol a replica of either an old western gun colt Peacemakers, Schofield M3s Remington1875, , or clasic ww1&ww2 like 1911 semi auto, or Broom Handled Mauser, Luger, etc, or modern guns like the Glock, perfectly fine in the back garden, for a bit of plinking
How small is your back garden? Provided you have an appropriate backstop (and your scope can focus at close range) you should be fine with any sub 12ftlb rifle.
@@simonnoble7589 fine thanks, how are you? Just got 1 1/2 hours shooting in before the rain came back. The HW95 4.5 doesn’t like Bisley Magnums or H&N Match. It does like RWS super domes and loves QYS diabolo 9.4 gr.
@@sergentcolon1 hi , iam not so bad thank you ... Sounds great . do you have a range at home ... i use pcp`s because iam a disabled shooter .. The hw95 is a fine rifle .my first pcp was a HW110 ... which is a fav .. nice chatting to you .. take care
morning all what a gorgeous gun i know Crossman can be long but there accurate once zeroed in which as Andy says " that brings me nicely to ... etc etc" them first two shots were i guess you chatting and getting all excited about shooting it because as you all see spot on from there in.
Had you just refilled, I've found my krall puncher shoots off zero for couple of first shots, then it's fine, as though it's settling in to the new pressure, I don't know or it might just be me, good review matey
You should check out the Barra 1100z. It is built on the same base platform as the Prospect (QB78), has a more "traditionally" shaped stock, AND retains the original QB trigger assembly which is adjustable. Though not regulated from the factory (reg. available on their website) or sub-12 friendly 😅 it does put out some consistent numbers with a bit of tuning.
Mrs P working from home roday and we all know what that means ! She's currently flying low level aerobatics with the vacuum , radio 2s spouting its usual inane garbage , faithfull hound sought sanctuary in his box and im staring at a choice of muesli or porridge !!! As the manufacturers all add a plastic version to their ranges I've got to say choosing between one or the other is akin to choosing between meusli or porridge in as much as it'll get the job done but can you savour it like a bacon mushroom and egg breakfast ? Or in this case a well oiled wooden stock that has a smell all of its own. Maybe im just too old to change ? Great review though Dave
Good morning all. Thanks Andy for the review as always and my first thought is 'My that's a biggun' . Have a great weekend all. You never know we might see some sun at somepoint. 🌞
Great video as usual Andy. From my observations the gun looks good for the money, and I do like the styling, but I notice that the finishing is a little rough on the cocking lever and the magazine look like they could be done better. Minor gripe given the price but I feel they should be better.
Apologies for being off-topic but just seen this on pre-order: "Lee Enfield British L1-A1 Self Loading Rifle - 4.5mm BB CO2 Air Rifle". If you can get hold of one Andy and review it, I would be really interested to see what you think. It's a replica of the iconic British service rifle that was in service between the mid-1950s and the mid-1980s, which was based on the FN FAL, nicknamed the "the right arm of the Free World" due to its widespread adoption by Western democracies during the Cold War.
Good Morning, This is the first that I have managed to watch without playing catch-up, and as ever I fully enjoyed it, keep them coming Andy, always interesting. Can I ask that when you do your next FAC version can you go over what the requirements are to obtain the certificate to own one please, I just think it would be very interesting to understand the legal requirements as a lot of things have changed, in relation to what you can and can't own, where you can and can't shoot etc. Thank you.
The gear links are helpful but I'm always curious about the background guns. There's always something pretty sitting on that shelf back there and most of the time I'd like to know more about them. If it was mentioned somewhere I could look up the correlating video.
Sometimes it is the next rifle to be reviewed, so you find out the following week. This particular one though looks like the HW100KT limited edition, which he has already reviewed.
As you say Andy it’s an odd one and not for everyone, including me. There are plenty of good air rifles for less than £420 out there but thanks anyway for the review.
I think the first two shots may have been affected by the trigger pull "wait" as you suggested Andy. It seemed to pull back forever! I think many new shooters might like the slower steady trigger pull..as they rest and sight in..? With your experienced Competition / Hunting shooters tending to be more down the "hair trigger" end of the scale? I had a low opinion of Crosman guns / engineering, and a dim opinion on their "design styles" Your ( as ever) excellent review gave it a fair airing as a "Yankie" option. Overall its looks a very robust, well made and value for money PCP air rifle. I guess its weight and size would suit a larger shooter from an ergonomic i.e. holding pov? - with its weight meaning more stability in the "hold" Nice one Andy. 👍
As a Brit in the USA,,, it's a pain when it comes to weights and measures. They can't make up their mind whether to be metric or stick with the old standard, so they use both. Buy something from the butcher and grocer and they weigh it in pounds and 10ths of a pound as in 1 1/2lbs is I.5lbs, no ounces. Bottles come in fl ozs, liters or mls and sometimes CCs. Chocolate bars are in grams, they made that switch when they started reducing the size of the bars instead of increasing the price and Yanks have no real idea what 45 grams is (1 1/2oz), sounds a lot but it's not as much as 56grams (2oz) which is how big it used to be. To top it off there's only 16fl oz in a pint, UK pint is 20 fl oz so a Yankee gal is two pints smaller than a Brit one. All hardware screws, bolts, tubing, pipes, tools, metal stock etc, come in standard or metric adding extra depth of interest to DIY projects or equipment repairs. I don't own any US made air guns so fortunately all my gear has metric nuts and bolts which makes maintenance and repairs a lot simpler requiring only metric tools, Allen wrenches, drivers and the like. There's no plan in the works to choose one over the other but it does come up from time to time in congress but fizzles out and goes away, one day maybe, our cousins over the pond will make up their minds and embrace the 20th century and join the rest of the world and become fully metric.
I'm wondering if you had just changed back to the pellets in the test. I've noticed when I change pellets it takes a few shots for the new pellets to settle in.
I feel you’ve kind of answered your own question here. Your gun takes 200 bar? and your compressor max’s out at 7 Bar……..simple maths says your 193 Bar short my friend. Stay safe. Andy
I think it was kongfellow who said" in each life some rain must fall" but why always us??? Apologies to any Longfellow fans if i have butchered that somewhat but ut was at least along those lines.
The last time I read an airgun magazine John Travolta was just learning to dance…. Do they still print them with a total readership of around 25,000 per month? stay safe and good hunting. Andy.
They're making noises about deactivated pistols and blank firing guns saying theyre being converted to use real rounds, which is BS they would explode in the hand and likely put a hammer or a slide thru the eye into the brain of the firer, just an excuse to shut down more collectors items. Were the laughing stock of the world with our gunlaws, be after pea shooters and catapults next, then spud guns and spit wads 😅
I feel like if you can't operate a RU-vid description drop down, perhaps you shouldn't be handling air rifles, pistols, complex machinery or even cutlery? That aside it's definitely a unique looking rifle. It's a hybrid of a classic shape and a military shape silhouette. That fore end to the stock reminds me of the US WW2 M1 30cal carbine.? I think it's more of a bench rest rifle though. At 8lbs unscoped and the trigger pull length, I probably wouldn't be hoofing it around fields for any length of time for some pest control. Maybe if you were sat in a barn or a hide, then yes, maybe I'd consider it? The other reason I think it's a range rifle is that it has no 6 o'clock pic rail for a bipod.
Personally I found the pretensis an instant hit with me, but that’s just my personal opinion, making a recommendation is always dangerous with the number of people out there who will accuse me of bias towards one company or another… stay safe. Andy
Crossman gamo and daisy are all together its all owned by daisy now. That most likely why the trigger gamo like. Lol its basically a discovery with some upgrades 💯👍✌️
I´m watching several airgun reviewers and very often I see the groups having a couple of runaways. The shooter always blames themselves, but sometimes they have a scope cam view that shows no shooter error. My believe is that most airguns have these phenomena. I also suspect that the shooter blames themselves because they are biased by a relation to the supplier. It is sooo difficult to find reviews that really put down any products. At least this is my personal impression.
Correct… it is your personal impression… but not the case here. Anyone who knows me, knows I don’t do cold, I’m solar powered and this was my error, sadly no one is perfect and no, “no manufacturer allegiance or biases’” as I seem to be accused of every other day…sigh….stay safe. Andy
Andy is always enthusiastic for one very good reason - he's an airgun enthusiast. And let's face it, once you set style aside and set price bracket, he's always looking at fine differences. Every sub 12 ft lb will have almost exactly the same power as another; Every barrel will meet very similar engineering tolerances; Every PCP mag will have a similar solution to the same fiddly pellet ergonomics and so on. They can all do the job, so to some extent, it's splitting hairs and comes down to personal preferences: PCP/springer Bullpup/rifle Trad/rad Loud/understated Parallax useful/annoying Trigger soft/firm. An airgun is like a motorcycle: My Tiger 900 fitted me and was a pleasure to ride - but didn't fit my wife and would have been an awful ride for her. Nearly all motorbikes are good, but I never felt an urge to ride a Harley or a Daytona. An airgun fits you - or it doesn't. A scope works for you - or it doesn't. It's all subjective. So Andy's an enthusiast... and that bothers you, but I'm just glad that he is... because then his videos are worth watching.
Jesus 420. you can pick up a 2nd s410 or a hw110 for around that money. That gun is horrid tho I'd be ashamed to shoot a rat with that 😆 however top review as per keep em coming 👍
Long (especially with a moderator) and heavy (?) and looks (??) - does not seem a good choice for hunting. Budget rifles are now aplenty and lots of choice - I think this one may have a niche market in the UK.
Have we done a complete U turn on safety's in trigger guards ? How can it possibly be ok to have to pull it towards the trigger to set it ? Why is this nonsense being tolerated by air gunners ? I can't see that anyone would prefer this set up yet it seems to be creeping into more and more budget guns. I'd much prefer something that made sense like the PR900. Sorry but I won't consider anything with this awful safety set up.
I bought a Gamo Coyote as a cheap and cheerful PCP and expected to hate its in-trigger safety catch, but in practice it's fine. I'll admit that I'd _prefer_ a cross bolt safety, but I can live without that in a budget rifle.
Ugly bad futuristic look : a lot of plastic to dress a rather pasted out technology. I have to say progrsses are rare lately and this is an example of what designers can produce when engineers are lacking inspiration.
