Your channel is singlehandedly the best air rifle review channel out there. Honestly, the professionalism in everything you do, scripting, cinematography, unbiased reviews...it tops them all. Your effort makes them days when I get back from work shafted, so much easier to get on and shoot after. To get some me time! Invaluable mental tool these vids. Here's to many, many more! Cheers.
I have shot air rifles for the last 54 years. Had a few in my time but my favorite is my BSA S10 in .22. A friend let me try his BSA R10 in 177, what a gun!!, so accurate you could cleanly shot the nuts of a gnat at 30 yards. Trying to think of an excuse to get one!.
I used to own a BSA. Now, I have an Air Arms TX200 Mk II. walnut, in .22; a Weihrauch HW95L in .22. and I just got an Air Arms S510 XS, regulated, Right Hand, Walnut, ..22. I am in the USA. Just doing my part to support England. Sorry about the Weihrauch and the unmentioned Hatsan 125 Sniper Vortex, also in .22. I have to say, I am really partial to the English-made Air Arms rifles.
British made: I always thought that was make inside the UK. no matter where, or by who, or even who owns the company. um Am I wrong in that understanding?
Bsa, air arms, daystate and others may fly the flag but often have Italian (minelli) stocks and Lothar walther barrels. I believe BSA make their own barrels. I bought Daystate because I thought I was supporting British manufacture. How wrong could I be!
You deserve sponsors my friend. You have earned your following because of your honest unbiased reviews. You do not seem like a man that would let that change.
Absolutely brilliant video and I have to agree that the .177 is the most underrated FAC gun in the bag. 18ftlb is ideal for up to 50m (and beyond on a still day ) with very humane dispatch and accuracy, ideal for enclosed barns and round live stock where collateral damage has to be avoided but longer range/terminal efficiency for the pests is needed. I wonder if the possible slugs being talked about in the caliber will finally materialise as this would most definitely put an end to people tittering quietly about the "lowly" .177. Oh and a note about Spain and the 18ftlb rule, yes thats with out Certificate but all Air Weapons are "in theory" banned from any type of hunting or pest control though as with most things there it is a tad flexibly enforced.
youtube is screwing the people who post video's by forcing us to view two to 5 full length commercials before video. This is not the fault of the person posting video, this is pure youtube !
There is an extension to your browser called Gener8 Ads, among the things it does it lets you choose to watch ads or not on here. Of course many channels need ad revenue so supporting them is a good thing. Nice to have the choice though.
It really sucks that it's so difficult to get an fac even for air rifles , besides no places to go. Ranges round here won't let you bring in more powerful air rifles anyway I wish I was born in America in the country side. Everything I am interested in is banned and restricted in the UK. Including other stuff like supplement,s , camping, fires , pretty much everything lol. Yet weirdly enough I legally own a fully activated Schmidt Rubin 1889 10 round magazine battle rifle because the ammo happens to be out of production ?? It's absurd
Have you fallen out with Drapers? I had planned to visit their shop based on your recommendation. I know they won't be open till the 16th June. But don't want to drive for 1 1/2 hours only to find they are no good. As an Ex-Army sniper I haven't fired a gun now for over 20 years but would like to get into target shooting again. These reviews are really helpful as the last air rifle I owned was a Mk2 BSA Meteor springer. Be interested to know about Drapers. They were very short with me on the phone last week.
In the interests of remaining professional, naturally I don’t want to be drawn into any form of public comments around past links. As mentioned in the latest program, stay tuned for more info around a new outlet we will be helping get off the ground over the coming weeks, hopefully this will help a lot of existing and new shooters alike. Thank you for your comment, stay safe. Andy
@@AAROnair Thanks for the reply Andy, I appreciate you not wanting to alienate anyone. As things stand at the moment it has become somewhat difficult to buy a new rifle as most of the dealers are either out of stock or unable to arrange delivery or collection. Many simply are not answering emails or phone calls. I had to email Drapers 3 times and then spend an hour on the phone just to get a very short, curt reply that they were closed until the 16th. It also seems that a lot of the manufacturers are also in lockdown so supply seems to have dried up. I would be interested in your BSA lineup review as I am hovering between a BSA R10 th .22 and the Weihrauch HW110 .22 Both seem to be well liked by most reviewers. I'm not looking for vermin control but I am looking for accuracy in sub 12ftlb Rifle. Cambridgeshire police have vertually stopped issuing FAC licences during this pandemic. So it seems that sub 12ftlb is the only way forward. Thanks again.
Woodturner Bloke . Both of those are excellent choices and the new company are looking to stock both of those and are already building their stocks. Thanks again for your interest and comments. Stay safe
I have the BSA R10 SE in .177 cal. I have the right handed Walnut version. Iam getting 50 shots per fill. It shoots 10.34 gr. JSB around 900 fps. I absolutely love this rifle. It can still get 820 fps with the JSB 13.43 gr. Monsters. Thanks brother for your excellent review. I think the UK should change the laws to at least 30 ft pounds. This would be ideal for most. 177, or. 22 rifles. Or unlimited for Air Rifles. Put in perspective. A. 22 long rifle powder burner using CCI STINGER bullets gets 190 ft pounds of energy. Most Air Rifles 30 cal. and under, aren't even half that. Times have changed. Better laws will only increase sales. God bless you!!! From the USA!!!👍👍👍😎😎🎯🎯
Personally I agree *but* I can't see this happening in the UK sadly. In some ways we're lucky to have the 12ft/lb in some countries it's terrible, think in Ireland it's 1 joule! It's especially ridiculous in the UK though as the way the certificate system works it's technically easier to get a 2+1 semi-automatic shotgun than a 20ft/lb .177!
@@Ryan.90 I agree. What's sad is that the same people that have a problem with the 20ft pound 177cal, have no problem whatsoever shipping in certain individuals far more dangerous to society.
Congrats on 50k subscribers, you might reach 100k before the end of 2020 with all these unfortunate events happening and the accelerated interest in.. specialized pneumatic technologies
@@bigb5681 I would love to own a pistol at that power! I really enjoy pistols anyway and wish Andy would cover them more. they could stick a little red dot (or a scope) on it, and BOOM... Much more convenient. I do have a scope on my HW75 but most of the time I prefer irons on pistols, or red dots.
I've never understood the appeal of section 1 air rifles really. They usually cost more to buy new but haemorrhage value second hand. They are too powerful to use for the sorts of tasks a sub 12 ft pound air rifle is used for ie: shooting in barns or in to the air, but at the same time are woefully underpowered compared to the humble 22lr. And they are heavy, have a low shot count and are less consistent due to the power curve. I get it if you're a collector or an enthusiast but otherwise? Not a great option.
Talking BSA - a few months ago my dad handed me his original BSA Meteor and in its original box too. It even has the small bottle of oil that came with it. It still shoots accurately using the BSA scope it came with after all these years and has an oddly satisfying kick though it is really loud compared to my RM8 carbine.
@Ejuice Vaper When I said original I should have stated that it the first ever released model of that rifle (I think 1959-ish). So considering it's all still as it came and shoots well is saying something. And yes, I agree, shooting with open sites and then moving to scope is a good way of developing accuracy as well as patience.
I think 18ft lbs is reasonable provided the owner / buyer understands the safe & appropriate use of an air rifle. Perhaps a safety certificate issued by a recognised organisation or gun club, like they do in some other countries?
In my country (Poland) to own a FAC rifle you only need to pass a mental test and tell the police that you have one five days from buying it, if you passed the test - which is easy of you're a normal sane person - they cannot say that you can't own one. This being said, the police never checks power of airguns inless they were used in a crime and even if you get caught with an unregistered one, you just pay a moderate fine - so many people who own FAC guns don't even bother with registering them. And I didn't hear about one used in a crime or some kind of horrible incident.
Just entered the 177 fac family with my own purchase of a FX Dreamline bullpup. I could not agree more with you comments of this superb calibre at 18ft/lbs. Love it. Superb and so capable. Great video content. Si
Great review!! That Wolverine .303 is a beast, way to heavy for hunting. I have a PCP with scope at 6 1/4 lbs in .177 regulated to 120 bar = 840 fps for 10.8 fpe at 40 yards with a 10.5 pellet have taken coyotes, fox and raccoon, shot placement is everything. CCI subsonic 22lr 1070 fps is 90+ fpe @ 50 yards , CCI 960 quiets 22lr 730 fps is 40+ fpe @ 50 yards and quieter than the PCP.. just can’t get excited about the big bore air rifles 🤷🏻♂️. Always looking for new vids from you and the wife. Thanks I’m in the Western U.S. without any regulations on air guns so far OMG they are coming out with 700 + fpe toys.
I struggle to see the logic of going to the trouble of getting an FAC for an airgun. Surely if you go to FAC you would just go straight to a .22LR rifle ?
Some people just prefer shooting air guns, they are also a hell of a lot quieter and ammo is much cheaper and a lot safer to shoot in certain situations.
@@philcole2131 on your own land or anywhere you have the rights to shoot others can shoot your firearms with you present. Basically the same as visiting a gun club.
Hi Andy, I have to agree with you about the 19ft/lbs, and the R10. I have a .22 R10 SE And it is superb. I did have to change the Regulator for a Huma though. The Scorpion Se is also a fantastic bit of kit. Looking forward to the BSA 'range' test. Brilliant review, keep up the good work.
Another really good video, I have BSA Meteor Evo and am looking at getting something with some more power but I'd love to see a review on a full line-up of BSA's
Just found this channel, it's so nice to see a UK based airgun source that is so down to earth. This is my second video, and I am already subscribed. Looking forward to catching up and viewing new content.
Andy, I know this is late, but your videos are so amazing I honestly would not care if you got any sponsors or money for your work. I know you'd still give great and honest reviews
I agree 18ftlb would be much better than the present 12ftlb. However I don't believe this would be achievable legally in the UK. As a collector I have had to over look some really nice Rifles because of power outputs exceeding 12ftlbs and the need for FAC. With regards to the BSA R10, this a fantastic Rifle and extremely accurate, one of my favorites too Andy! Great video, really enjoy all of them, excellent research and information, made clear and understandable. Thank you. 👍
On the subject of BSA I absolutely hate them. They are light years behind the competition and not worth the money or the trouble. Sorry for being blunt but they truly annoy me as they should be so much better.
exellent review as usual Andy, right on target :D . and to mrs AAR, splendid shooting with the .177 ! Andy watch your back, soon the missus will out shoot You ;)
Thank you kindly. I’m sure she’s glad to get me from under her feet sometimes. we do try to promote the Airgun community and a sense of enjoyment and safety. stay safe. Andy & Mrs AAR x x
Lol not much to hunt here anyways xD. Only thing in my area are hores, cows, my neighbours cat. And my pets. Needless to say i wouldnt hunt/shoot any of them.
Hello, I am an American viewer and I am often intrigued with how big of a fan of silencers you are, I rarely hear of aftermarket silencers in my area. I personally shoot only Benjamin air rifles with Redfield optics. I appreciate the high quality videos you produce and thoroughly enjoy watching your videos
Great video - thank you! I am being very tempted by an R10th at the moment. Regarding the monster Wolverine - I assume you're shooting fairly large pests (by airgun standards) at a decent distance with it. At what point would you say a lightweight rimfire becomes more practical than the huge heavy pcp?
Well done Mr & Mrs AAR, love it, I am thinking of getting a BSA R TH or a Daystate huntsman regal , not sure witch ? That's 12 ft not fac, 👍👍👍👌🌈stay safe.
Informative as always, esp on the FAC .177. Now, a couple of weeks ago you teased us with a forthcoming review of a Kral,.... so KRAL! KRAL! KRAL! : -)
Wow , great content today Andy . I went through 2 coffees watching 😀 . Had me clued to my i pad . Very exciting times coming on this fantastic channel 👍 . You have some great fac rifles , but a trifle heavy for me , as Iam disabled. Here's the wonderful thing about our sport , that it can cater to many people. I don't have a bsa rifle , but might have try one now . Great show today ! From the both you . Take care ..... Cheers Simon from York
Try a BSA Ultra Se, my wife loves target shooting, but has arthritis, the Ultra is short, lightweight, very accurate and is a 10 shot pre charge, highly recommended 🏆
Congratulations on 50K subscribers. Enjoyed the channel from the beginning. I've a Huntsman Regal in .20 to I like the calibre and we to are a good 'team'. Had an early .177 MK 2 R10 but unfortunately it was not very good so it had to go. However, it was and still is a very handsome gun and your review of the thumbhole version was very tempting. My regards to Mrs AAR. Love the channel and appreciate the hard work you both put into it.
Great to hear with such clarity Andy during the intro of your past associations with certain businesses and your previous links with them and the new greater focus toward absolute independence. Hopefully all those sending items for you to review in future will be completely aware of this fact. No holds barred reviews are refreshing to say the least. It was lovely to see your wife taking a slightly more prominent role and shooting in the video also. Perhaps it would be particularly nice Andy to properly introduce her to everyone in the next video, instead of people having to refer to her as Mrs AAR! Your video editing was even more slick than usual and seeing the split screens was very modern. I hope at some point that you make the shift to 4k as that's always the way to go. Exciting times for you both no doubt. Keep up the great work.😃
Thanks to your channel and a couple of others I acquired my first pcp rifle this month. An avenger in 22cal. with a wood stock. The extra weight makes it easier for me to steady. The vermin in Florida needed another thing to worry about. Thanks for a great channel.
Hi Andy can you clarify something for me. Where does the law stand on using a FAC rifle in your own garden, mine is quite large around 60m x 35m. I am thinking of constructing a range similar to yours on your property many thanks in advance
May depend on the wording on your FAC. I have small bore and full bore rifles on my FAC. I can only to use them on approved ranges. Says so on my certificate. I assume an air rifle FAC will say where you can use it. My air rifles are sub 12.
@@markl4670 I can only assume then that Andys 40 m range has been approved then for use with FAC air weapons, my garden backs onto our farm which is passed so I should be ok cheers Woodsman
THANK YOU!! This is the first time any channel has discuss the issue of the sub 12 ft lb law in the UK! I really appreciate your view on that as well as your explanation of what's going on with the law. I really appreciate your view on asking people to petition their lawmakers if they so choose to and your explanation of what fac stands for and how you all get this FAC designation. I do feel bad for you all that you have to go through this rigmarole just to get a full-blown rifle that the rest of the world is allowed to have. Congratulations with your channel, you do a fine job 🤗😊
Just to correct you re the Huntsman Regal Xl....you say the magazine are anti 'double loading'. I've done it many times to the point where I've had to discipline myself....I load just before I take the shot. Daystate missed a trick by not making a slightly larger diameter mag that would have a blank chamber for the last position. The probe wouldn't go in and you'd know you're 'out'. Instead you take the shot and frighten quarry off. I have nothing but praise for the maker of CARM mags who has added a round AND the blank chamber. True, they index onto the pellet but the indexing spring is so light, no damage is sustained. My FAC running at 30'Lb with JSB 18.13. Nice tight groups and with a steady aim, pigeon to 60 yards.
Hi I love your channel, I just thought I’d say that the Wolverine 303 you have., if it was me & I wanted a air rifle in .30caliber I would trade in the Wolverine 303 & buy the new FX impact mk3 & you can buy the barrels/liners & probes/magazines for .22 .25 & .30 & it’s a much lighter & compact rifle. I have the FX wildcat mk2 atm but in the new year I’m going to be buying the FX impact mk3 in high power in .22 & .25
Great video - thank you. I am looking for some advice please and would really appreciate any suggestions from Andy or anyone else. Having shot centrefire and RF rifles for many years, I am now looking to acquire a 22 FAC air rifle. The last air rifle I used was a wonderful Feinwerkbau 124 Sport which was bought 44 years ago! I still own this but I don’t want to bother with maintaining a spring gun anymore and I want something for pest control up to 50-60 metres. I also want something that I can use to introduce my teenage children into target shooting beyond 25m. Fortunately, I have lots of scuba tanks so a PCP is the obvious choice. I need to consider overall length, weight, power, accuracy, trigger quality, reliability and something with pre-fitted sling swivels. I have been looking online at these three models and wonder which one you would recommend when taking into consideration these criteria: 1) BSA R10 SE. 2) Weihrauch HW 100T. 3) Daystate Huntsman Regal. Unless I could borrow each of these for a couple of days I cannot decide which one would be best. Thank you.
We are too irresponsible and not capable adults in Northern Ireland..... 14 yos can own a 12ft/lb air rifle in GB..... us in NI would be better squeezing a BB between our cheeks and farting would do more damage than what our goverment thinks we are capable of being responsible for.... 0.7 Ft/lbs is what we can have without a FAC, Pathetic I know but sums up Northern Ireland be glad yous can purchase a 12 ft/lb gun without a FAC guys
What brand are you avoiding Andy? SMK or Gunpower? I’ve heard you talk about it a few times They both have the worst customer service and are never interested in helping their customers. As much as I hate them, my first air gun was a QB78 with thumbhole stock and it was the was horrific so I tuned and converted it to HPA it myself. I was getting over 1000 shots with H&N rabbit magnums at about 450fps running on 1300psi.
Hi, Andy, it 's a bit hard for me to watch english content for me but I realy like your video... Thank you ! You spoke about Spanich limitation : about the laws in Belgium, just for your know, just need 18+ to buy anything (no power limit), but in most place you can't shoot because peoples are stupids and may call police and most of them don't know anything about airguns (and also to about real guns) ... And Hunting whith air is not legal btw ...
I shoot the real thing. Real high power rifles & handguns, but I love to shot my tack driver hand crank 17 cal pellet gun. Its absolutely fun. No long rides to the gun range, no expensive ammo, no smelly different gun powders going off, no loud bang noise. Dam I wonder why I still love my 44 mag, my 357, my 9mm, my shotgun. But I guess I need the power. But like I said my pellet gun is fun period.
12ftlb ? Ridiculous level lobbied for by Britain airgun maker's because they couldn't keep up with the Germans! I totally agree with you that 18-20ftlbs is far more sensible for a lot of reasons but i suppose we should be great full that we haven't got an outright ban as in Australia! Good review of the two useful fac air rifles, can't see the point of the big one other than if i can i will😂
It's not only Scotland. Northern Ireland is massively restricted - In Northern Ireland airguns and CO2 guns having a discharge kinetic energy in excess of one (1) Joule (0.737 ft lbs) require to be held on a firearm certificate
Soooo, 500 pounds PCP is not better than a break barrel air rifle.....oooohhh i forgot, another 300 pounds for the air pump. I still can´t understand PCP rifles...kill a rat at 60 yards ???
how is the overly complex daystate 10 shot magazine better than the 14 shot HW-100 mag with no moving parts to go wrong? I don't like the idea of having a gunsmith looking over my airgun, just to get it working properly, it should come like that from factory. 12:47 That threads on the barrel look really crude. I've cut thousands of threads, when it looks like that, it's time to throw away the thread cutter and use a new one (it's already to late at that point, that should have never been delivered to a costumer, daystate seems to have very poor quality control)
Say, have you heard of AEAUSA airguns. They're a airgun co. Out of China, they are selling airguns in America, BUT only reviews that have been done have been done by the company. If you could, can you do a review of one. Thank you
Hi Andy ,as much i love watching your take on things regarding fac,and pcp i feel you always tend to steer away from Springer Rifles ,in fact i cant remember you actually doing a Lengthy slot on the likes of the tx200hc or sport come to that,IFyou do mention the word springers thats it ,now enough said ,Lets get back to pcp or fac rifles to be honest i just dont get ,i feel channels like this are so biase towards the pcp,but thankyou anyway Andy🥂👍👍
An fac 177 even at 14 fbs would be a really good power level.. Will it ever be reviewed or changed... I doubt it very much. Shame really, especially in 177.
FAC airguns need to be pcp, springers at 40ft are just not pleasant to shoot with. I prefer to use a centre fire rifle when i need the extra power for a clean kill. Sub FAC guns are fine for short distances, but for a clean kill they just don't have the required punch. It's a shame that the limit is so low at 12ftlbs, i would have thought that 20 would have been a sensible limit but here in the UK, the anti gun brigade just don't understand.
Hi Andy been avidly watching your superb videos but you forgot to mention Northern Ireland where you need a FAC for any air rifle sub 12 FPE or greater. Most are FAC versions and fall into the Banded System. Have a look
Hi Andy I've lived in Spain for the last 35 years I'm a great air gun collecter from 1920s to modern air rifles bye the way the gun law in Spain is for air rifles and pistols 17foot pounds the good side bad side you are not alould to shoot any vermin with air guns love your program on the you tube try not to say anything with a H in kind regards Paul woody woodthorpe
That's crazy you have to have a permit to buy a air gun or not a permit because I know they're not anything like a regular BB gun but you have to have a good reason? My guess what the high-powered ones that's one thing but over what you said pounds of pressure that's insane but here in the US you can go to Toys R Us and get an M16 so LOL that's why your country's a lot less crime and murder
I shoot my FX Impact @ power #8 and someone has said that's about 14 lbs feet. it does make a crack noise though that's breaking the speed of sound but it doesn't do that all the time it very's on what pellet weight of course usually it's JSB heavy's
Hi Andy , ray from Ireland , have a r10 BSA, my block has separated from barrel , cannot find how to fix it . Can you recommend a gun dealer to fix it.
Andy, i agree with you that we should petition for a Spanish like increase of allowed power. Why don't you launch this petition on your successful program ? Eventually you can count on me 😊
Personally, I think those expensive toys may be nice to see sometimes, but I don't want them. I only feel the need to get or want to get the pellet guns I can readily purchase and afford. I only purchase what I can justify obtaining. That is one of the reasons why I will never purchase a PCP. They are far too expensive as are the compressors and accessories.
The .177 fac isn't a waste of time. It just shouldn't really require a fac. As you say though it currently does so thats that. I'm defo not risking a firearms charge so its sub 12lb for me for now.
Nice review of your "bazooka". But shooting any air gun, even your bazooka is not expensive if you make your own mold and cast your own pellets. Recycling old pellets by reusing it to make new ones is easy too. Total cost for ammo is next to nothing for shooting air guns.
My eyes are not that good these days, but if you look up and to your left (behind your back) it looks like you have two opposite facing Chairman Mao's peeking over your garden wall, To the left of the gap in the wall,....... get out the best FAC!
I was considering joining a club and possibly getting a decent FAC rifle, I've zero interest in killing animals so vermin control is out. I think the vermin is usually on the butt end of a gun.
If they increased the power level to 18ft/lb you would see a reduction of people applying for FAC for .22 rimfire rifles as airrifles would be more suitable for pest control .
